Having internal body vibrations/buzzing.

Posted , 170 users are following.

I've been experiencing these body vibrations/buzzing for about 2 months now. It started out mostly at night waking me up between 1am to 4am..if I try to sleep through it it gets worse and even into my head. I've had several really bad mornings where its been so bad I get out of bed in a panic wondering what is wrong...of course this has lead to very little sleep the last couple months. Lately it goes on all day too. At night I can "calm" it with a glass of wine but only to wake up vibrating again. I've been taking anxiety meds and they have no effect. Tried muscle relaxers and they have no effect. I've changed my diet and taking vitamins with no effect. I'm 50 years old and pre pausel as I've had on full period I'm 7 months. Im so tired of dealing with this. Anyone else having this same thing? If so what have they done about it?.I have a doctors app. in two days.

I am having the same issue. I told the Doctor that I feel like I am plugged into an electrical socket 24 Hrs a day. It is horrific. I feel like I am dying everyday. It started when my period stopped 4 or 5 months ago so I am assuming it is menopause. I'm 50. My doctor wants to start me on hormone therapy even though my hormones levels have not been tested. He seems confident that its menopause. I did read that when your hormone levels drop during menopause the adrenal glands kick in to produce the hormones. Well mine never turn off! Being that I am constantly feeling this internal buzzing feeling it is causing ulcers in my mouth and ruining me. If I didn't have anxiety before....I do now! Being that this post was put up so long ago....I am wondering how everyone is doing? Please share what worked for you. I could really use your help and input!

    Thank you!

Hi like most of you here I have been experiencing what I would call extreme symptoms for some years. So I have tried numerous approaches, treatments over the years. I am also work in psychotherapy, so have also explored possible unconscious issues. So I have tried medication sertraline 50 mg a few years ago, as this did not resolve things I then used for a few years herbs from a medical herbalist which worked for a few years, so I would suggest people try this and search for the medical herbalist associations. I also use acupuncture and i found shiatsu particularly helpful on a regular bases. Due to lockdown and restrictions on seeing particular therapists it has been hard. I am now using homeopathy and even though many people think this is not even science, i have found it very helpful if you find the right practitioner so look at the homeopath association. I have found different things have helped for a while and then I need to try something else. So I am open to try other things. I also feel that old trauma is being released and family stuff, which is difficult.

My story sounds like yours. I've been following this thread for almost 2 years when my internal vibrations started and I think it's trauma. I had some family issues erupt when they started which triggered some serious long time trauma. I started going through EMDR therapy (for PTSD) but stopped when we went into lockdown. Was ok for a few months and the vibrations had lessened. At least to the point where they weren't so obvious. I started to feel myself slipping backwards (emotionally) and started up my therapy again and the vibrations have been back in full force since I started slipping. I just can't help but feel there's a connection to the trauma.

I'm also menopausal so there's that. That seems to be coming up a lot on this thread as well.

Has anyone -- and I mean anyone -- who has posted in this forum over the last 3-4 years (or however long this forum been active) actually BEATEN this thing or had ANY improvement? It's been over 2 years for me. There was a period last year where I actually went for about 3 months of feeling little if no symptoms (this during 2020 and Covid, if you can believe it). Then it came roaring back:

    • pulsing sensation in left ear
    • internal vibration (left side only; how can this be?)
    • low grade headaches
    • NEW, now with muscle fasciculation (twitching); arm (L), shoulder (L), legs (both). Super fun.

Doctor, of course, chalks it up to stress/anxiety. I'm convinced that GP's know as little about this as an amateur meteorologist can make an accurate weather forecast. Every other post I read here, someone's GP will say "it's stress" or will otherwise not take it seriously.

It isn't just a symptom of menopause, as men get this too. It has nothing to do with age, because younger people can experience just as easily as older people (I'm 55). So what can we, all of us "armchair doctors", truly say it is? Hormonal? Environmental? I don't recall this being talked about 10-20 years ago (then again, I wasn't seeking it out as a topic of discussion) -- I may not have read much about it but I certainly didn't hear any family members or friends or anyone else bring it up. Could it be the the fact that we are so wired now, staring at devices and screens all day, that this is a cause? Maybe I need to go seclude myself in a cabin in the woods for a summer and see if it disappears (I'll bet it would, LOL)? I think if we look at the body of evidence, across the spectrum of age and gender, we would see some commonalities. So why can't science do that? That's what has me stupefied. Why can't the GP's of the world make a real prognosis and give us some damn answers?

about three months ago I started tapering myself off of the estrogen patch. I am in surgical menopause due to a total hysterectomy. I did not have any problems until three months ago. I want to say it has something to do with menopause and me being off of estrogen for a month or so but I’m not sure. Symptoms that I have been having are a vibrating sound in my head, vision changes, and a feeling of disconnection from the world. My regular physician did not have an answer for me. So I went to see an ENT they said my ears were fine. I also went to a neurologist and my MRI on the brain was fine I am so sick of hearing the sound it has gotten better it doesn’t come about every day like it used to I’ve also started taking my estrogen patch again it’s weird because sometimes There is no vibration sound at all and then sometimes there will be for a few days in a row.

I had this right after menopause. The buzzing is likely coming from your liver / gallbladder, which work together. and is usually sluggish by the time we hit our 50's. When we go through menopause, we experience surges of estrogen as the body attempts to find hormonal balance and overloads your liver. If you've lived a stressful life, then your adrenals, which are supposed to pick up the slack, are also likely weak and cannot do it's pinch hitting job. This is also when women often experience frozen shoulder (which is often caused by a sluggish gallbladder). In Asia they call it 50 year old women syndrome. Eat clean, take digestive enzymes and apple cider vinegar with honey and water before every meal, take Tudca (it'll clear the sludge out of your gall bladder), dandelion, artichoke, milk thistle, curcumin/tumeric, and for your adrenals extra vitamin C in divided doses throughout the day. Reduce your fat intake until you fully cleanse your liver/gallbladder. Squeeze a lemon in warm water and drink it first thing in the morning every day.

For the other person who said they had sleep apnea: my husband developed this. I put him on 1,000 mg of Vit C 3 to 4 times a day and it cleared up after about a month. This is because Vit C is essential to collagen production. If your body cannot produce/replace the collagen that your body uses every day, then your muscles/tendons/ligaments/skin won't be strong and firm and will become saggy, including all that soft tissue in your throat and neck. Your skin will look fabulous and creaky/achy knees will feel lots better, too!

      Hi,

I was also told about exhausted adrenals. I fixed that (I had a fruit addiction unknowingly...so too much sugar, though i consume zero processed foods and little carbs -besides the fruit). I didn't help, still had the vibrations. Started intermittent fasting and dry brushing , as it was suggested my lymphatic system was sluggish. Still vibrate, but deep breathing stops it now.

we could be twins! (except for being thin, I'm still 😒 thick)

You're not alone, I have a lot of the very same symptoms you do for the last 9 months. I feel like I'm at my wits end and it's all I can do to carry on my day. it's all hormonal and everything I have tried has failed. Buzzing, RLS, anxiety, lightheadedness, no period, 2 periods in one month, spotting for two months, joint pain, skin feels weird, fingers and toes tingle, EXHAUSTION.... it's a NIGHTMARE! I'm so done with this sh*t!

Hello. I wake from the internal vibrations in my body too. It is almost as if I could feel my blood flowing through my body. Gets annoying during the day, rest time, and I also wake from it. I am 54 and post menopausal and look forward to this feeling ending. However I've also been diagnosed many years ago with Fibromyalgia ME/CFS. Nerve sensitively throughout my body all the time with mild to severe flare-ups of pain (down for days to weeks), can't walk, fatigue, migraines, and restless leg syndrome; just the worst. Gabapetin nerve blockers help me. Although I do still wake up in middle of night with strong vibrating sensations and can't get back to sleep, like now. 😔

    Hi,

I've had them for 5 years, started about one year into menopause. It's always at night and only at night. At the beginning, I'd get up and walk a bit and it would go and I would go back to sleep. Now, I can stop it with very slow breathing (inhale 4 through nose-count to 10-slowly exhale by the mouth). It really helps. Being hungry (low sugar levels...I've learnt to stabilise them with intermittent fasting), being too tired and being stressed make it worse. I tried Complex Vit B, magnesium....no positive effect. I've also always slept on my stomach....it makes it worse, so trying to learn to sleep on my back - difficult but it helps a lot. Still no clue as to underlying causes. I'm very healthy and health conscious, but i do have nerve damage from a bad wisdom teeth operation decades ago. Interesting link that, I'd never thought of it. Thanks to the ones who mentioned this! Doctors seem to have no clue about it and have never heard of it either...I don't think it's dangerous...try to see what works for you. All the best.
