healing time after botox for anal fissure

Hi everyone!
So I went in for the botox treatment for my anal fissure around 3 weeks ago, after trying every cream for the past year or so to no avail.
Since the treatment my pain is still there and I was wondering if anyone else has had the same treatment and was successful and how long it took for the fissure to heal?
Any advice truly appreciated!!

A month ago, on 3/15/21, I was put under general anesthesia for botox, external hemorrhoids and a fissure. I had to have general for that procedure but my Dr said that she does general even if it's just botox. She said that she can't risk the patient moving during the injection. Since, I'm only 4 weeks out, it's hard to say if it worked. Time will tell I guess.

I take magnesium every night so BMs are fine. I also use witch hazel wipes and got a bidet toilet seat. I'm still using nifedipine/lidocaine compound cream. I didn't like using it at first but I got used to it. I use RectiCare cream and zinc oxide ointment too. My problem is that I would do all the creams and everything and feel better for a while and then have another flare up. It was an endless cycle. After years and years of this, I finally reached by breaking point and decided to do the surgery with botox. If this doesn't heal me, I'll probably end up doing LIS.

I had botox almost 6 weeks ago on 3/15/21. For me, the first two weeks were the hardest and most painful so far. I took colace and magnesium after surgery to keep my bowels moving. I no longer take colace but I'm still taking magnesium. I also added psyllium husk to my routine. Hope this info helps.

hello, all! ive been suffering with a fissure for awhile now. i bleed a lot when using the bathroom. my doctor was very rude and told me if i have the spincterotomy he would probably make me have a colostomy bag--im only 28. i do botox next week. is there any relief??

Fissures can be really difficult to heal. Might as well give Botox a try. I hope it works for you. I can't believe your doctor said that if he did surgery you'd need a colostomy bag after. That's a terrible thing to say. Especially to someone suffering from fissure pain. Personally, if a doctor said that to me, I would leave and never go back.

hi all,
I had botox surgery on the 16th after months of incredible pain.
the first few days after the surgery were pretty bad - worse than before it.
however, now I seem a little bit better. No blood and the pain is reduced.
I take pysillum husk and dulcosol. I go for walks and try to eat at least 40g of fiber a day. all of this seems to help.
I had never experienced such a strong and debilitating pain!

Do you feel like the botox is working for you? Also, did you have anything else done or did you just do the botox by itself?

hello!
I started with a bad case of piles and doctors prescribing suppositories - which probably created the fissures and started my hell.
when I went to the doctors pre-op they couldn't even examine me and I was just spending my days in the bath!
I used ever cream you can think off and few days before the surgery the bleeding had stopped and I felt better.
After the botox - only thing was done during surgery - I was in pain like before and got really worried I ruined my progress and had to start again. after a few days things are getting better. i seem to have some rush/acne/swollen parts which hurt, but no blood and I can go to the toilet as normal.
I take supplements, almost only eat fibres and loads of dulcosol.
hope this helps you!

I received my botox treatment in mid May, after struggling with a chronic fissure for about a year. I must say that my fissure is not that bad as I have read here, however there was a frequent bleeding and also periods of intense pain while defecating.
The injection itself was bearable, I expected it to be more painful as it was.
I did not feel any discomfort after the botox treatment and in the third day already I felt much better, and after the week the pain was gone. Now it has been 1,5 month after the treatment and today I experienced bleeding once again for the first time after the botox. So unfortunately it seems that it does not heal my fissure. However I recommend it as a short-term solution, as I finally was able to enjoy life and was feeling considerably better, at least for this summer period.
Will have my doctor's appointment in mid July, so then I will see whether the doctor will recommend the surgery as the next step.
My question to others who deal with this - what type of diet do you have? I eat almost only salads, fruits and also food rich in fiber. I use very little milk products and almost no meat products, and have excluded sweets and bread products completely.
I have already lost a lots of weight (which is not entirely bad 😄 ) However I dream about the day when I will be able to eat something else...
I also find that I have to eat rather little amounts in order not to make the stool too big...

feeling really sceptical about the effectiveness of botox for my anal fissure since reading every single addition to this thread but went for it anyway! day 1! will post with updates (hopefully all positive) in a few days/weeks. One thing i will say though, the body WANTS to heal and everything is temporary
