healing time after botox for anal fissure

Posted , 143 users are following.

Hi everyone!

So I went in for the botox treatment for my anal fissure around 3 weeks ago, after trying every cream for the past year or so to no avail.

Since the treatment my pain is still there and I was wondering if anyone else has had the same treatment and was successful and how long it took for the fissure to heal?

Any advice truly appreciated!!

    Thanks

Hi, best thing i ever did for my fissure was go gluten and dairy free, and incorporate more fruit & veg into my life. barely know its there anymore. And ive had loads of treatments and surgery and nothing fixed the issue

    Hello

short answer is yes. a change of diet lifestyle is required and thats forever. you need a high fibre / fruit diet. you need to keep your bm's as soft as poss.

Im still careful to stick to my regime.

    keep walking and moving too!

i hope you are not in the worst part.

its a bloody miserable thing to go through.

    sending love

      Hi,

i just wanted to get experience of anyone else on the forum.

i had botox 2-3 weeks ago. ...followed by a week of no pain (yay!) but now fissure is starting to feel a bit sore.

i just wanted to know what sort of food people are eating as i have lost approx 17 lb ( i now weigh 130 lb, 9st 4)

Typically, my daily food intake consists of porridge/cereal with prunes & linseeds, then i eat salad and then have soup with veg & linseeds. or a light dinner. if i eat bread/ pasta it is wholemeal.....as well as some fruit eaten during the day.

everyday i also take 2 sachets of LAXIDO, and between 15-30 ml of lactulose.

i feel i am eating well or at least a very clean diet but ..my anal canal (sorry formthe details) seems to be so weak that any slightly larger bowel movement (either through eating a little bread/pasta......or reducing the intake of Laxido/lactulose) causes a re-tear of the fissure. At this rate, i have no chance of regaining weight as eating .... i only drink hot water ...(no alcohol).

just wanted to know if anyone has any advice....at my wit's end. it feels like i will be on these meds for life .

      thanks

      hello

sounds like the diet is fine. i have bran and banana for breakfast. some grapes about 10 oclock. im now eating normal dinners, i usually have a orange after tea.

i dont drink as much water as i used too, but thats essential as well. It leaves you very fragile mentally too

it will get better. i do feel for you and wish you all the best.

      excuse, grammar and punctuation!

      regards

      john

      hi,

unfortunately, the the fissure has re-torn. any larger bowel movement seems to cause a re-tear.it just feels like i cannot heal irrespective of what i eat.... the main issue is the morning Bm..... this is the one that has historically caused the bleeding....and i usually take laxido/lactulose before bed.

i don't understand if my anal canal is weak, and worry whether any treatment would make a difference.

i believe the next step might be the lateral sphincterotomy, but wondering whether this will make a difference.

does anyone have any experience of this procedure? or any recommendations?

      hi akash

I have the same problem with regular fissures and they are nasty. I have had 3 rounds of botox under anaesthetic over the last few years.

I would swear by the aloe vera I have been taking recently. they are available in large batches and are currently available on groupon. (colax) they are colon cleansers and they are natural. give them a try. hope that helps

      hi,

yes am better thanks...but only by managing what i eat , and still taking lactulose/laxido......and eating quite a high fibre diet.

i am not sure if i ever will come off the lactulose/laxido, as the back passage feels awfully weak still taking the to ensure i have soft BMs. ...i am too worried about not using them. ...and want to avoid any surgery.

though, strangely, if i do some exercise it seems to make my BMs more difficult to pass and causes a re-tear (though i thought exercise was supposed to help) this is the thing that is most upsetting as i have not done any exercise for year or so... which has not helped mentally...nor physically.

      Hi akash,

Sorry to hear you can't exercise. You commented six months ago that you were looking in to the other surgery, the lateral operation? Did you have it or did the botox work for the fissure?

My operation was at the end of September and I am still in agony from the moment of bm in the moment, until the later part of the afternoon. I just wondered if this was the same for you?

I don't know whether to call the surgeon and explain my pain as my next follow up is two weeks away. What are other people's experiences-? I just can't work out why it hurts so much, is this because the fissure is still there? Kind regards poppy

Sorry, I have tried to stay off the internet for a bit.

It's just horrific. I have been trying more baths, more fibre, more water, witch Hazel wipes and still nothing. Some days I feel okay in the afternoon and it fills me with false hope.

I am waiting for my next appointment to see if the botox has worked but I know it hasn't.

I think it's positive that you have an upcoming slot in London, when is that? Surely we can't live our lives like this?

I dont know why I am saying this but you have to stay positive, surely there must be something they can do?

I don't even understand why it's happened really. It's horrific and like groundhog day.

well i thought i was beating it until this morning. now im back to 10 days ago?. also no reason why.

i had a day case appointment come in for the 8th, i cant take it as i cant afford to be off work any more.

it just seems to go on forever, you just have to get through each day and hope for the better.

im with you in spirit. you are not alone although i know it feels like it. xx
