heart paliptations and feeling weak after simple tasks

Posted , 11 users are following.

Just literally changed my bed covers and done a spot of hoovering and I feel absolutely shattered, my chest feels weird (in the way it does when I'm about to have a panic attack) I feel like my hearts really thudding but my heart rate is at about 87bpm currently. I feel like I want to cry I'm so scared.

I did have a bad night resulting in about 4 hours sleep. Could this all just be my anxiety playing up due to lack of sleep?

How long have u been on sertraline and what mg as it might be the side effect of heightened anxiety and also causes disturbed sleep. Also what time of day do u take it as that can play a big part in it aswell x

I take mine in the evening I have been on it for nearly 2 weeks I'm on 50mg I had a family bereavement about 6 weeks ago I suffered with anxiety before she passed away but it's just got so bad since she passed away it's horrible I drink alcohol in the evenings to make myself feel normal but I wake up in the morning feeling worse it's a vicious circle I just want to be back to my normal happy self but I can't see no light at the end of the tunnel I had a ecg done last Sunday I went to a and e as I thought I was dying but they said it was fine just a racing heart as I was having a panic attack but I still don't feel reassured I still think I'm going to dye 😡 x

About 2 months vikki. I was on 50mg for about 3 weeks and it got increased to 100mg. But I didn't do well on that amount.

I take it in the morning at the moment X

Maybe try taking it at bed time, I take mine just as I get into bed and have had no trouble sleeping. So u have taken the 100mg for 5 weeks? I am on 5 weeks of 50mg and still have abit of anxiety but it's better than what it was though. I was told to wait 6-8 weeks between doses as that's how long it takes to kick in or even longer so I would think like me we should start feeling better very soon, give or take a week or 2. I am also on propranolol 40mg x 3 a day for heart palpitations and all the physical effects of anxiety and they have really helped, so maybe ask your doc for something to take alongside sertraline, or maybe go down to 75 mg if u don't feel any benefit in the next week as it's a big jump 50mg - 100mg, I hope everything works out for you, let me know how u get in x

Hi kezzi, I'm sorry to hear your not having a good time with a family bereavement. 2 weeks is still very early days but the side effects should wear off any day and by 6-8 weeks u should feel some benefit from the sertraline, but if not by then then u will prob need to up the dose. Maybe take your sert at a dif time and see if that helps with morning anxiety, I take mine just as I'm getting in bed and I've had no trouble sleeping, I do get abit of morning anxiety though but if I get up it normally gets better within the hr, and then during the day it comes in stages but doesn't last long as I try and distract myself with housework or knitting which I have just learnt to do, and it really helps. Also the drinking is prob why u r suffering bad morning anxiety as your not supposed to drink on them, the odd one now and again is fine but alcohol and sert interact with each other, I wish u well and keep me posted how your getting on or if u need a chat x

Thanks vikki. I will discuss it with the doctor this week. I've had a lot of people mention propranolol, it's the physical effects which then start my mind going off worrying. Really appreciate your help and advice in will stick with sertraline and hope it starts to kick in. I will keep you updated x

I haven't tried it but have heard of it as someone recommended it when I took my driving test, does it help.?

It really helped me get through the 3 months before going to the doctors. I still use it now on coca spins when my anxiety is bd and it really does help. U can get many varieties ie, spray, drops, sweets, and they do a nighttime one aswell if u suffer with sleep anxiety. I highly recommend it and only costs about £4 and u can get it from any supermarket or chemist. Let me know how u get on Hun and think positive, here if u need me x

U can also use it as much as u want, I was using ALOT and even kids and pets can have it so it is very safe and u can take it with sertraline. I give it to my 2 dogs on firework night and new yrs eve or when there r fireworks to calm them down from being anxious x

Thanks so much vikki, I never realised or thought of using that to help. I will get some this week and give it a go. Really thank you, you've been a great help. Dreading this part as night time things seem 10 x harder. X

Yeh same with night time anxiety, night time was when I had my first panic attack yrs ago and plus it's dark outside and everything is shut so u sort of feel isolated in a way, but is just learnt to knit lol, I am 34 and knit every night now and that seriously helps me take my mind off the anxious thoughts, maybe try the night time rescue remedy then if your anxiety is worse at night. I wish u well and keep me posted how your doing and if u need a chat I'm here, think positive Hun as u r nearly there x

Same here my first ever one was at night and I was all Alone. Also now where I live in really am out in the sticks so it is a worry. I knit too if I can (I've got a baby niece sonics a good excuse) it does help you're right. I try to read and do puzzles too but it's quite hard to concentrate. I will try the rescue remedy I think i just need a final bit of help to push me over this last high hurdle. Thank you that's really nice to know. I will try get some sleep and update on here after Tuesdays appt x

It possibly is anxiety but I would still see a doctor just to be on the safe side
