Hello there

Been following this group for a few weeks now and decided to jump in. I had bunion surgery, hammertoe, plantar fasciitis and tarsal tunnel release, all on the right foot on Feb 26. Have done really well except for falling twice and putting a lot of pressure on my foot trying to keep from falling. I am approaching week three and actually have more pain now than I did at first. Sutures are out, thank goodness and I am still no-weight bearing. I see the surgeon Friday and will probably go into a post surgical boot. I keep thinking I should be further along but I have to consider I had four procedures on one little foot! I am 63 years old and it is not easy getting around. Hubby rented me a knee walker and that really has been a big help. Happy healing to all!

Day 18 here, woo hoo. Its going to be another sunny day here. Have a g/f coming for a visit today and she is making me lunch. A visit is always nice. For the first time in a long time my toe doesnt feel like it is hanging off the ceiling and thats a wonderful feeling. Getting better. Two more sleeps and the stiches come out. I am getting very ANSTY about all the laying around. When we start to feel better we want to get going like we used to, but the foot says NO. Guess I have to listen and just count down the days.
Bob, Take it easy, rest, elevate, ice and soak that foot. Look after yourself cause " your worth it". Things will get better. Glad you had a good visit with your Mom yesterday.
Patricia and Joan, how are you doing today?
Hoping the rest of you are all doing well. Will see some of you on Facebook. (what was life like before Facebook?) as well as forums like this.
This is a long, hard journey and no one knows what we are feeling but someone that has been down the road with you. So thankful for all of you as it makes this journey so much easier.

A lovely sunny day here in the Midlands. Just spent most of the morning sitting in the garden, reading. My cockatiels were out in theory cage enjoying the sunshine as well.
It's now day 33for me, still got very bad swelling and toe joint has started to feel very weird ''almost like there is something very hard by the joint and I'm wondering if this could be the screw?? Anyone else have/had any strange sensation around the toe/scar area?
I've also noticed I am slowly getting more sensation around the scar, the numbness is starting to go.
Still doing the physio exercises! Getting there
Bob, keep taking those antibiotics.
Anita, sounds like you are coming along nicely.
Patricia, a slightly belated hello and welcome. Which part of Africa are you from?
Have a lovely day everyone.

day 21 for me and feeling much better today, haven't needed to take any paracetamol since 9am ( it's 4pm here now ). Mind you I have spent the whole day in bed and am still in my PJ's - it's a lovely cool and rainy day here so it seemed like the best thing to do, and so wonderful for the garden - we haven't had any rain for weeks. My husband is also feeling much better today, so I don't have to feel guilty asking him to do things for me. And he heard today that his contract in Sudan is being renewed, so good news all round!
Glad to hear you got your infection sorted Bob, and that you're spending the day resting
Anita I absolutely agree, the internet and Facebook have been my lifeline! And I've decided to look at life from the glass half full or half empty scenario and so now I think to myself - oh no, only another 3 weeks of being allowed to do absolutely nothing, and I have been a bit more content - hope it lasts!
I've booked an Indian Head massage for myself tomorrow afternoon as a treat - at least we can still get one of those while our feet are elevated
Hope everyone else is doing well, and take care of yourselves

Been to the local park today, didn't think I would be able for that yet. Parked near the gates and walked a short distance, it was uphill, I was using my crutches today. Got to the picnic and play area , felt great to get out I the sun and it was so busy with families was great to see all the kids running and playing.
Back home elevating now. A bit uncomfortable but not concerned.
I am making a note to try walk properly now, I notice I walk without putting my toes on the ground. Also to stop walking downstairs like a 3 year old .
Hope everyone feeling good as I am today,

I've spent the last few days learning how to walk properly again and my goodness it's been difficult! Be prepared for aching shins and those tendons on the top of your feet..................OUCH! Still- getting better at walking a bit more each day but I think that my shoes aren't giving my feet enough support and that I tend to walk on the outside of foot if I get the chance. But the sun has been shining and the birds singing so it's been a good day.
Glad everyone is getting on well despite lumps (I have one too but the consultant says it will go away), tinglings (I got that feeling too but it goes) and aches. Seven week mark tomorrow- think I may try to drive.

Doesn't a bit of sunshine cheer everyone up.
Thank for your 7 week update Eileen.
Still wearing my Velcro shoe as I can't find anything else that fits, but it's too big for me. Any suggestions?
