Hello there

Posted , 29 users are following.

Been following this group for a few weeks now and decided to jump in. I had bunion surgery, hammertoe, plantar fasciitis and tarsal tunnel release, all on the right foot on Feb 26. Have done really well except for falling twice and putting a lot of pressure on my foot trying to keep from falling. I am approaching week three and actually have more pain now than I did at first. Sutures are out, thank goodness and I am still no-weight bearing. I see the surgeon Friday and will probably go into a post surgical boot. I keep thinking I should be further along but I have to consider I had four procedures on one little foot! I am 63 years old and it is not easy getting around. Hubby rented me a knee walker and that really has been a big help. Happy healing to all!

Good afternoon everyone. Rainy and cold here today after 80 degrees yesterday. I am not feeling so well today, sore throat, headache, and running to the potty. Ugh...this too shall pass. Got the go ahead by the doc yesterday to ditch the one crutch and walk with just the cam boot! Oh the feeling of freedom! He said to make sure though to pick that crutch back up if it gets painful again. I have used it about half the time today. I don't want to transition too quickly then have a set back. I ordered some toe socks to wear and they have helped so much keeping my toes separated and helping also with that feeling that someone has a string tied around my big toe and pulling it tighter.

Bob, sorry you have and infection but glad you got right on it with the doc. Keep soaking!

Eileen, I know what you mean about learning to walk again. Are you still in a cam boot?

And everyone else, glad to hear it seems we are all doing well and still headed in the right direction for healing. Will check in again tomorrow.

Jenny where did you get the toe socks from. The hospital gave me toe spacer but it is not working

Not in a cam boot- I'm allowed to walk in shoes now  so have been wearing a pair of walking shoes that I usually wear with two pairs of socks. I thought that they fitted well but maybe thy're a bit too big now.

Hope today is a better day for you Jenny.  Are you feeling any better?  Bet you're exhausted.  Take care.

Good afternoon!  Yes, feeliing a lot better, thank you Rena.

Be, I got the toe socks at Dicks Sporting Goods.  You can also get them off of Amazon.  The are wonderful!

Today the ole unbunion is giving me a fit!  I have been walking probably half of the time with no crutch and that foot is screaming at me. I have physical therapy this afternoon and I really don't want them to touch it.  Wonder how that is going to work out?

    Good morning DAY 28

Have they changed this site format? Not sure would I'm doing. Says I'm replying to Jenny.

Anyway, yesterday was another frustrating day. Inside on a rainy day thinking this was the worst decision I ever made and feeling like I'm never going to get better.

Did alot of soaking, elevating and icing. Wound seems to be getting better, infection is simmering. Today I have to get out of the house. Going to visit mom and do a hour commitment I have every week helping out at the church. I'm not a religous person, I just like to help setting up for different events they have.

Jenny - Hope you are feeling better. Being sick on top of this is hard. Hang in there.

    Morning ANITAGIRL !!!!

Joan - Can't wait until I'm able to walk. Really not liking this scooter anymore. Loved it at first.

Carman, Eileen, be, Joan , Rena, Patricia hope you are all making progress.

Somedays staying positive can be very difficult. Thank god we get a DO OVER today. Make the best out of it. Today is all we have.

    Have a great day.

P.S Can anyone help me on how to just make a general post on here?

      Hi Bob

Whatever you did looks like a general post to me....I think that all you have to do is to reply to Jenny as you did. Life is hard enough without our website changing isn't it!!

Chin up - you're getting better every day even though you don't realise it. Just wait till you start making those feet work again- now that's a test. Can you think of any foot strengthening exercises for me to do as my feet seem so week after six weeks doing nothing!

      E

      Morning Friends!!

What a big change here on this site. I went to my email, to see if anyone had posted and there was nothing. I thought that was strange so decided to look and here you all are. Oh well, something new to learn I guess.

Well its SNOWING here and coming down in big heavy flakes. The ground is covered and people are having to wipe the snow off their windshields and cars before going. IT is pretty to watch. It doesnt bother me anymore as once I am through this it will be spring or summer.

Had a great night sleep. They dont happen as often as they used to but I enjoyed it. My girl friend was here yesterday and it was a nice visit. I took a nap after she left. I find it exhausting when visitors come, anyone else feel the same way.

Bob, your doing great. Keep up the foot soaks. This too shall pass. ENjoy your time out today. Love your scooter, dont curse it. Imagine life without it.

Jenny, how are you doing today. Feeling any better.

Eileen, I am scared and afraid of my feet and the inactivty too. Did your Doctor give you any excercies to do or physio. Maybe check on UTUBE, there are a lot of things there. Your doing great. Your road is almost at the end. You must be so happy.

Carman, be, Joan , Rena, Patricia hang in there, things are getting better one day at a time.

ENjoy today, its the only one we have. One day at a time. Do something  NICE for yourself today.

      Anita

PS. I dont think spellcheck is here anymore, oh well

I was thinking of you yesterday Bob when I was flaked out for the day.  I got a taste first hand of what our bodies do when we have pushed them around too much.  You gotta give in to your master Bob and then you will be rewarded !  There's no fighting it it seems and no negotiating either.  Slow down my friend....your body is now healing from a double whammy.

Hello, been checking my emails on and off.....and there was nothing from anyone on here, so thought I'd pop in and see where everyone was.... And here you all are. Also site looks different and I seem to be replying to jenny!

anyway afternoon to everyone. I've started with ''needle like'' pain over the toe joint, very uncomfortable and I'm struggling more now than I was 2 weeks ago, very strange.

other than that I am well. It's a blustery day here.

glad everyone seems to be doing well.

if you look back at my previous posts I had noted down a few of the exercises I had been given at physio.

We had snow here yesterday.....still cold and its still around today on the lawns.  And to think that 2 days ago we had 23C deg.  CRAZY !

I had the same experience of what seemed like a setback when my stitches came out last week....it lasted for a number of days but is now over thankfully.  Hang in there !

Hey All !  DAY 21...YOOHOO!   What a difference a day makes !  Monday I was far too active for this stage evidently. Took my first fully standing shower and got ready to go out for lunch which took 1.5 hours (you know gals...hair, makeup, deciding what to wear etc. LOL).  Then was off to pick up a visiting relative to take her out to lunch.  Although I was elevated on the knee scooter during the 1 hr. lunch, the rest of the time was scooting around with her in this marvelous shopping mall. In total from shower to back home was moving around for almost 5 hrs.  Waaaay too much even with popping Advils along the way.  Barely had time to rest for an hour and then had to prepare to go out to family's for dinner.  Well, I was in such pain when I got there I could barely take a step.  Lucky for me they could set me up very comfortably at the table with wonderful elevation and ice, so was able to enjoy the event immensely.   Home by midnight and crashed....and pretty much stayed crashed all day yesterday.  Didn't even have the energy to post here!  Stayed elevated and icing hours on end.  Sure came through loud and clear  to me how our bodies are our masters and let us know that in no uncertain terms !

And today !  Wow, what a difference.  Was able to actually vacuum and be up and walking (heel/side walking in post op shoe)  around for a full 30 minutes without any discomfort before needing to elevate and ice.  How encouraging is that !!!  That's the longest yet for me in one go so it seems this 3 week mark is something of a jump forward for me.  I am so encouraged....can you tell ?  LOL

OK...I see now if we click on reply to Jenny we are back at page 1 and I can't see the latest posts to comment on them.  So will post this first part and go and reply to the last in line to be able to see the last page.  Am afraid to go to the last page now as I might lose this before it's posted. Also, I think we have to click again on those discussions we want to follow.   To be continued......

Hey Anita   We had snow yesterday and hanging around still today....almost made me think I should be out there Xmas shopping!  Your date for stitch removal is coming up soon isn't it?  Is it tomorrow?  Yes, I tire much more easily since the surgery.  I think the healing process uses up alot of energy.

Gosh, how muddled is this.  Same as everyone, been wondering why no one was posting here as no notifications.  Been busy today, too much standing foot is needing a good old rest. Off to bed.
