Hello there

Been following this group for a few weeks now and decided to jump in. I had bunion surgery, hammertoe, plantar fasciitis and tarsal tunnel release, all on the right foot on Feb 26. Have done really well except for falling twice and putting a lot of pressure on my foot trying to keep from falling. I am approaching week three and actually have more pain now than I did at first. Sutures are out, thank goodness and I am still no-weight bearing. I see the surgeon Friday and will probably go into a post surgical boot. I keep thinking I should be further along but I have to consider I had four procedures on one little foot! I am 63 years old and it is not easy getting around. Hubby rented me a knee walker and that really has been a big help. Happy healing to all!

Yesterday was up, out and about most of the day. By nightime my foot was very swollen ( No Kidding ). At this moment 8:30 a.m. it isn't to bad. Still my big toe is very numb. My self diagnosis is the infection is gone.
As far as feeling like I'm on a rollarcoaster, that's exactly how my recovery has been. Today is a bright sunny day and I am going out to enjoy it as long as my foot can take it. My buddy and his wife brought over a bird feeded and bird food so I can continue my quest as a bird watcher. They brought me a book and binoculars to idenify them. Never would have thunk I'd be doing that.
Rena - Won't promise you I will take a time out. I will say 4 straight days of rain are on the way so I expect to gain some ground. I will keep doing my best tho. Thanks Rena.
Joan - Thanks for the positive thoughts on my mom. Overdoing it is our biggest issue it sounds like. I'm not the model patient although I seem to always bounce back well from many surgeries.
Anitagirl - Ring (HUH ) lol. Hope your lunch went well with your mother in law. Enjoy the day today.
Kim - 5 weeks and I'm only light heel weight bearing on crutches. Sounds like you are in a good place. Keep up the good work.
Beau - Let me know how those Sketchers trainers are. Saw them somewhere. Looks like they might be for me.
Hope today brings everyone some kind of peace. This is such a tough grind. I pray that we all can do our best in our recovery and accept every part of this process. Remember we are on to a better part of our life.
Have a great day!!

Eileen - well done for completing long days at work.I'm certainly not looking forward to it and am only going back a little early at nearly 7 weeks ( on 6th May) because I work part time, and have 2 weeks holiday booked for mid June!
Does anyone manage with one crutch? I tried it outside and strangely found it easier to use it on the 'good leg' side.

Kim..I did one crutch for several weeks before going to full weight-bearing. I at first found it easier on my affected side but kept at it and ended up liking it better on the non-affected side. I was in better control of how much pressure to put on the foot. I think it is just something you have to work with.
Hope everyone is having a great day. It is beautiful here, a little chilly but the sun is shining brightly, the flowers and trees are blooming! Ahhhh...spring, it does the soul good.
I am including (I hope) a before and after picture of my feet. The right foot is the one that I had all the surgery on.
Whoops the posted backwards, the first one is after and the last one is before.

eileen well done for going back to work, do hope you're ok and I'm in awe of you.
I went to a Clarks outlet today and found some sandals that don't kill me to walk in, they're springers so quite soft. I've also found that although my feet are still swollen specially by the end of the day, I have gone down to a 5.5 instead of 6 as I guess I need less room which is why I bought size 6 for years!! So that was fun :-)
i tried on ordinary shoes too but I'm afraid they just rubbed too much on my sore bits, but hey it's months before that's a problem and I have the summer to repair.
Am I alone finding this new layout confusing?
Hope everyone. Is continuing to mend well. 👣👣VJ
