Hello there

Posted , 29 users are following.

Been following this group for a few weeks now and decided to jump in. I had bunion surgery, hammertoe, plantar fasciitis and tarsal tunnel release, all on the right foot on Feb 26. Have done really well except for falling twice and putting a lot of pressure on my foot trying to keep from falling. I am approaching week three and actually have more pain now than I did at first. Sutures are out, thank goodness and I am still no-weight bearing. I see the surgeon Friday and will probably go into a post surgical boot. I keep thinking I should be further along but I have to consider I had four procedures on one little foot! I am 63 years old and it is not easy getting around. Hubby rented me a knee walker and that really has been a big help. Happy healing to all!

    Morning WEEK 5 Day 3

Yesterday probably was my most frustrating day. Life issues seem to be magnified when I have pain and pain seems to be magnified when life issues arrive.

Today I am starting my quest to walk with boot and crutches more then I have been all week. Deciding if I will be going for a run. ( LOL Just kidding Rena )

Beau - Thanks, keep me posted when you get them. Appreciate that. That's a positive sign.

Kim - He told me I had Austin and Partial Ludloff surgery.

Jenny - Rena - Joan - Carman - Hope you are all doing well. Thanks again for all the encouragement.

Anita - You been a lifesaver!!!

Keep working it!! Only works if it we work it.

Yesterday I was coming off my most frustrating day. Like a rainstorm it passes and the sun will eventually shine another day.

Have a good day my friends!!

      Keep going Bob ........

Im on week 10 and its a wonderfull place to be.

Sometimes the recovery is totally overwelming and you can have serveral emotions wave over you in 1 hr.

Sometimes we have to let it just ...be.

      It does get better...

Bob- they have arrived! So far they are lovely and comfortable- soooo light, very flexible and room for my toes.In fact a little too much room in length as I bought my usual size and am guessing my newly structured feet spread less in every direction at the moment but that may change as I get to walk properly. I haven't walked far in them yet, been wearing them for about 3 hours now-  just pottered about in between elevating but they feel as if I could wear them all day!!

Skechers GoBionics - I found them listed on that CorrectToes site as 'approved' footwear - the other shoes I'm looking into are Xero sandals as I really do prefer bare feet anyway and these look just the job ! They may interest you if you run usually.

Morning!!  Its FRIDAY and and and...........WEEK 4 for me

Cant beleive I have done 4 weeks house arrest. I have watched........wait for it........ 71 hours of TV. I have been watching Nip and Tuck and its done now.  Im actually happy the series is over. It was 100 espisodes. Now to watch some daytime TV and start reading a book. I am not really a soap watcher. We had NetFLix for a month and honestly I am not impressed and have canceled it now.

As most of you know, my Mom is in the hospital and suffers from depression. Long story short they will be starting ECT (shock therapy) today. Since she moved to this new place, two weeks ago, I have been trying to get in touch with her Phycatrist. She never called me. I finally lost it yesterday and said to the nurse, why wont she call...........I have been waiting 2 weeks now. If I was well and able I would have shown up at the hospital and not left until I was able to chat with her. Well, she finnally called and advised me that they dont normally get in touch with the family, WHAT............. Anyways, after over an hour long converstation, she said "I am glad we were about to chat"  I dont get it!!!  As long as they help my Mom, that is the main concern. (Shaking my head)

Supposed to be a nice weekend here. Not much planned expect, elevate, ice and rest.  This does get boring. Food has been my comfort and thats not good. Trying to move towards the fresh fruit now. Eating a bowl of fresh strawberries and grapes right now. They are so good.

Bob, hang in there my friend. Take it easy with the walking today.

Jenny I am looking at the Injinji toe socks, which ones do you have. They have several versions. They do look like they would be comfy.

Be, 10 weeks, thats awesome. Your up and around and forgot all about this?

Beu, how are the new shoes?? Remind me again who you are on FB.  It gets confusing for me with all the names, lol. Maybe I am getting old.

To the rest, have an awesome day. See some of you on FB. Great place to catch up and make the time pass.

And for today, color outside the lines. Do something nice for you today.

Morning all!  Doing well after self-imposed lock down of so far 2 days and 3 more to go.  Damage from foot drop slowly being reversed and feeling better each day now.

All you gals discussing toe socks and shoes.....am loving all of this chat.  Gives hope I will be there some day too !

Anita....I have had a couple of relatives who have been getting shock therapy treatments and has worked wonders for them.  They are able to enjoy every day life. One is a   95 yr. old aunt who still gets them every couple of weeks.  Hopefully this will do the trick for your mom over time.  These treatments today are nothing like they used to be....many fewer negative side effects.

Love that expression "colour outside the lines" Anita.  Makes life sooo much more fun ! LOL

Bob....you joker....you WILL be running for sure down the line biggrin

Only 3 more days until the pins come out....hopefully...

    Carmen,

Most of us have moved over to ``I survived a Bunionectomy`` its a closed group but just ask to be added.  Its a great place to chat with people, just like here but better. See you over there. Can get confusing if you use a different name when you post here (looking at Beaudiddly aka Tracey on FB)

This place is still wonderful to post on but sometimes the response time takes a while.

    See you on FB

Hi all thanks for the sock info aNd the Facebook site I. Will check it out as this new layout does my head In. I was in a previous chat forum but it seems to have gone  quiet of late. I'm 8 weeks today and noticing I can wear some footwear I couldn't manage just a week ago so that's good news. Can walk round barefoot at home most of the day but I do get swelling still if I do I can see it still needs to subside quite a lot. My feet were really bad before so perhaps this is partly why. I bought some arnica salve to rub in too. I have a feel my skin doesn't like bio oil much. Wishing you all a restful weekend and I have first physio next week! VJ 👣👣

Good afternoon all!  Hope everyone is doing well.

Bob, hang in there, I promise, it does get better!

Anita, I have 3 pair, the low ones (my favorite), the crew length and the compression knee highs.  They are all good but I do wear the low ones the most.

Saw the doctor this morning and he is pleased with the progress.  He said the bone is completely healed and the screw is in perfect position! Yay!  Also said that I am still in the boot longer than  most because it wasn't just a bunion that I had done it was a bunion plus 3 other procedures so it will take longer to progress since one makes the other sore.  Makes sense.  I am now transitioning out of the boot to my tennis shoe (trainer). I start this evening with one hour in the shoe. Tomorrow 2 hours in the shoe, and so on until I can tolerate from dinnertime to bedtime in the shoe.  He is expecting in one months time for me to be out of the boot.  I can't wait!!  I had a suture that had worked it's way through the incision on the top of my foot and he took a scalpel and just but it off.  I was going to snip it myself but was afraid my toe might fall off of something...lol

I have physical therapy in and hour and I so want a nap. cry

    Morning 5 WEEKS 4 Days.

Yesterday was a down day on the couch, ice, elevating and eating. I did go out for a short 2 hours and walked in boot with crutches, guarded weight I suppose 200 steps. Usaul swelling, throbbing. Minor sign of infection still present. Today I will probably do much of the same thing.

Hope all my friends Carmen, Jenny, Joan, be, beau, Anitagirl, Eileen, Rena, Patricia, vj are doing well. One thing we all have in common even though our pain is different, we all had bunion surgery and it's much easier to get thru this together than alone.

For that I am truely grateful!!!

    Have a great day!!!!

Morning Week 4 Day 1 here,

Not sure what the heck is with my foot.  I have been sleeping with it elevate by 3 pillows and seem to wake up with a kink in my ankle.  Maybe its too high.  How many pillows do you all use. I have been using this Miracle Foot Repair creme on the bottom of my Elephant skin soles and well they feel good again.

Today is another day and another day closer to getting better. So glad Week 4 is here. I was actaully scheduled for this surgery yesterday as well. Took the earlier date.  I cant imagine starting from the begining right now. Need this to be a distant memory. Hubby went in to work today, its not normal but I guess they are busy.

Looks like there are a few of us on the other side, which is wonderful.  Its nice to put a face to the name. Jenny, why dont you join us.  On FB  I Survived a Bunionectomy.

To everyone of my bunionless friends, take it easy today and laugh at the rules. Have a nice weekend,

    Anita
