Hello there

Been following this group for a few weeks now and decided to jump in. I had bunion surgery, hammertoe, plantar fasciitis and tarsal tunnel release, all on the right foot on Feb 26. Have done really well except for falling twice and putting a lot of pressure on my foot trying to keep from falling. I am approaching week three and actually have more pain now than I did at first. Sutures are out, thank goodness and I am still no-weight bearing. I see the surgeon Friday and will probably go into a post surgical boot. I keep thinking I should be further along but I have to consider I had four procedures on one little foot! I am 63 years old and it is not easy getting around. Hubby rented me a knee walker and that really has been a big help. Happy healing to all!

Jan, I know all about working when you shouldn't - sometimes we just have to close or a shorter day. Go careful. As for loosing weight probably as not in café - no cakes, no clotted cream, no bacon and deffo no crusty bread - realised how much snaking I do on the run!! I might find out tomorrow ref staffing as schools on strike and both ours are Mums!!

Joan know what you mean - I don't use crutches around house though be careful had to get a new cast today as walked so much in other had a blister

Evening and or morning to everyone and remember Anita save some of that ice for a nice G&T

It's a problem when we are used to being so active. You must be a patient patient Bob!!!!!!! Can you have a change of scenery, another room with a different view? Just remember that it's not forever and you will soon be running around like a mad thing and perhaps wish you could have a rest. This is a good chance to recharge your batteries.

A bit of comfort food is a must for days like that. You will soon work it off. It won't take you as long as it will me to shift any additional weight!!

Positive thinking Bob, you will get there.

Bob, can you get out at all in the car, could someone take you to a cafe for a cuppa and a change of scenery, maybe just a short journey. I went to the Bean Scene on Sunday and it was great to be out for an hour.

Though I live in Glasgow so everything is pretty much near me, I don't know about all you guys

    Goodmorning all!!

Went to the hairdresser yesterday and had a hair cut. I told her to make it nice as I have a date with my couch for 6 weeks lol. Today I am cooking a Turkey for the two of us and we will have lots of yummy leftovers. I have a bit of running around to do this morning. Its currently snowing here where I live and -15C. Its supposed to get colder. Oh, my surgery time got changed from 11.30 to 1.30 with no drinking or eating after midnight. I called the office and asked if perhaps I could have a little water and they said NO. I feel like I wont survive that long without drinking. Did everyone else have to go without for that long? Big water drinker here.

Bob, think of this as "ME" time. Your spending time with you so make the best of it. The countdown is on with you date with the couch. It wont be forever. Remind me of this when start about the couch. Do some Sudhko or something different. You need to keep your mind stimulated and challenged.

Jan, that great that you didnt feel a thing. No pain is wonderful. Now the exercise therapy starts. Not good that you were on your foot so long. You need to baby your foot but I know its easier said then done especially when its your livelyhood. Take it easy today, rest and ice if you can.

One month mark today! Last night I had the most pain that I have had the entire time. I used the walker a little with just setting the foot on the floor, maybe that is what did it. I have physical therapy today and am not looking forward to it.

Bob, I changed by chair, sofa, everyday for a different view. If you can get out, a short trip to a coffee shop or to get a sandwich does wonders to raise your spirits. I just use a chair and prop the foot up!

Top of the morning to my bunion friends or non bunion friends now. Woke up to 5 inches of snow in N.J. Beautiful to look at out the window. Had an off day yesterday. Past that and today is another day. This place has really helped me. Thanks!!!! Saint Annette left for New York to visit her daughter so I'm alone for the first time in a week. I Like the alone time actually. Annette has made it much more manageable for me. Love her compassion and love her for who she is. Pain today is 3, Numbness. Not sleeping well yet. Still getting use to being on my back opposed to my side. I did accidently put weight on my repaired foot going to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Hope no damage.

Anita, you will definitly need help from your husband and others in the beginning and it's best if we don't overthink the outcome. Good luck tomorrow my friend. Even tho I don't know you you will be in my prayers tomorrow!!!! Prayers to you for strentgh and courage.

Joan I was able to get out the last few days. Hour at a time. My foot throbs any longer. Went to visit a friend in rehab for his surgery. Thanks for the suggestion.

Jan - Ventnor coffee shop is definitly the place to go. All live music. Facebook or goggle it. Ventnor N.J.

Have the boys stopping over today. Want to wish everyone a peaceful day. Remember or lives are constantly changing and yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift!!!!

I too hit the one month mark and guess what.......yesterday was the most painful day I'd had since about day 5. Strange isn't it- I don't think I did too much yesterday or the day before but feeling better today and have been for a longer walk than I have had before. While it's not nice that we both suffered but it's reassuring for me to have someone else at the same stage have the same things happen.

Lovely sunny day in Glasgow, (unusual) been sitting on my garden reading, nice change, it's a little chilly though, so wrapped up warm. Bob you are right about having time on your own, this is kind of my first day no one is visiting and I am enjoying it. My daughter has been bringing the grandchildren every day, so she can help me. Bless them all, but the peace and quiete is nice. I am going to sit on my couch for 1 hour without getting g up.

Jenny, congrats one the one month behind you. Its all going to be a distant memory soon. Sorry about the pain. Hopefully that passes soon. I guess we all need physio to get us up and mobile again. Dont do too much today and rest your leg, like you havent heard that before!!!

Bob, I am not going in till Friday but thanks for thinking of me. I dont want Friday to come too soon. Getting more FREAKED out everyday, but you have all helped so much already. Hang in there. Sorry to hear about your sleep, I too am a side sleeper and I guess it will take some getting used to. Enjoy your day with your friends.

Eileen, congrtas on the the one month behind you too. Thats awesome. Very strange that you had so much pain yesterday. I wonder why. You need to chat with your Dr about that. Hang in there, its almost over.

Joan, I am already looking forward to just being by myself. Enjoy what you want on TV today. Its 'Your Day". Nice to have lots of visits and support. What do you mean your not getting up for one hour, hope you havent been up too much.

Enjoy your day everyone. Out to get groceries and tackle the SNOW. Sure hope spring gets here soon, but wait summer will be here when my date with the couch ends. Now that is something to look forward too.

Hi Anita, as there is not really much pain and I feel great in all other ways I find it hard to sit still, just potter about, like going to kitchen or upstairs to bathroom. Even thinking I would like to do my nails now, but all the nail polish etc is in another room. What I have to do now is carry my bag with me to put stuff in, but just something g to think about, it's hard to carry a phone, maybe a magazine, then you might want a pen and paper or a bar of chocolate etc, so I have this bag that I can pop over my shoulder and put things in. Crazy, family were laughing at me, but it's a good idea.

Anita - My bad. Caught that after I hit send button. Another day reprieve. LOL This stuff happens so quickly. Then it's over and recovery starts. Being freaked is somewhat normal. I mean running around the house like a lunitic may not be so healthy. Feeling uneasy and a bit feared up is different. Again let your faith take over . Maybe sit quietly and thank your god of your understanding for the love you are about to recieve. Listen for the answer!!!! Well getting ready for the calvery to arrive. Feel like my place is out of order without saint Annette here.

Joan - I would be lost without my shoulder bag - Bob get a man bag then its amazing what you can take around with you!! Ref side sleeping seems a lot of us are - so is it that which has given us bunion probs? Weight on the arch pushing the bunion out?? Food for thought!

I have had another good day out in the sunshine here in Devon. A friend took me to another Trade Food fair. She can come again as we came out with 4 bags full of free samples!! My husband especially liked the beer and Lindt Chocolates. I am finding though get very tired I supposed crutches and walking. Next week have to work 2 days though will sit behind my Café counter on a chair and shut early!!

Anita - pamper yourself tomorrow and try not to worry - you really will be fine x razz

Well the house smells really with the Turkey cooking. Now off to make mashed potatoes, gravy and some type of vegies. I have been working so hard today I am tired, my feet are. I am so looking forward to sitting on my couch, remind me of this next week, lol

So here is a question for anyone that has been through this, are you happy you did it or if you could go back in time would you not have done it?

Well I best move it, so we can have a nice dinner tonight just the two of us.
