Help, getting really down about Molluscum

Posted , 25 users are following.

I picked up Molluscum from a spa day back in March this year. I had the usual story of doctors telling me its fine and not to worry about it.

I then lost out on a relationship because of it in the summer and also started war on them.

I have had 3 freezing sessions at the clinic and new ones keep popping up or old ones coming back so I then brought a home kit as they wont let me back until three weeks have passed.

I am also using TTO which has helped shrink but never get rid of them.

I get really really down and upset about this virus as its been 5/6 months and new spots tend to appear over night. I have got to the point I don't know what is a little spot / blemish or what is a wart now and feel like I am treating anything.

Can anyone tell me how long they had this for? and also what do they look like when you are winning? Did they just stop appearing or did they appear then disappear quickly or all suddenly just start healing.

I just want a sign that my body is fighting it. I dont drink much, dont smoke, taking vitamins, work out etc.

Two months with nothing and this week I have had two pop up. one is tiny so will ignore and the other is on the back of my knee. I'm gutted there is nothing I can do now with the current situation just ride it out and hope no more come up.

my only guess is that I've had a nasty chest infection and my immune system must be pretty low so 🤷‍

this is really depressing that after 2 months of nothing you can still get them.

from the plus side if they are that infrequent i am sure you are close to the end.

do you know if you can spread it from sex even when you have no lesions?

unsure why - but it sounds like waiting game cryo tto acv all just get rid of bumps and not virus

i hope this will be last of it for you

Sorry to hear about this. I am very tempted to pop them with a needle. I read about a study saying povidone iodine could treat it and this has kept my hopes up. It's currently my 2nd week using doing this and will continue to do this until I can go back to my doctor. I'll update you guys about the results!

Below is the link to the study.

Results: All 12/12 (100%) patients demonstrated complete or partial resolution. There were a total of 115 lesions treated in the case series, and 103/115 (90%) resolved. Complete resolution occurred in 8/12 (67%) patients. Of the 8/12 with complete resolution, 4/8 (50%) patients showed complete resolution at the four-week follow-up visit and 4/8 (50%) showed complete resolution at the eight-week follow-up. Of the 4/12 (33%) patients who failed to demonstrate complete resolution, 4/4 (100%) showed partial resolution. Conclusion: This case series demonstrates considerable success for treatment of molluscum contagiosum with a dilute povidone-iodine preparation. The treatment was well-tolerated, with minimal side effects.

Hi. The good news is they are small, one was tiny and looks like it is going already I will ignore the other one as it's on the back of my knee and I cant see it haha. were all stuck in our houses now so just try to let it do its thing.

well with regards to sex I think it all depends on the person. I've been dating someone for five months and thank goodness he has shown nothing. he knew from the start so I dint do it secretly and only did when I couldn't see any.

its like where i have had then frozen the skin in pink and they seem to reappear there

just when you think you are getting clear they come up

i've started picking them - hoping immune response will follow

the freezing kits wont work unless you press really hard then end up with a massive scar

I'm in a similar boat to you all. Had been getting them frozen every 2-3 weeks but can't get back to that now because of the COVID-19 restrictions. Thought they had all cleared then noticed a new one this morning. Really gutted and don't know what to do with it. Scared to try freezing at home in case I harm myself and it ends up getting infected when all this other stuff is going on in the world

Have you been shaving and maybe irritated the area?? I am confused how it would just pop up because dermatologists say once theyre gone, theyre gone unless you come in contact with it again. I know they say no shaving until three months of last treatment so thats why i ask.

They can take a few weeks to appear. The nurse I saw told me average incubation period is 90 days 😕

Ya if your spreading it to someone? But not on your own skin. It didnt take 90 days for one butt cheek to spread to another butt cheek lol at least for me -.- This is just from what a dermatologist has been saying to me. It literally gives me no hope of getting rid of mine if it just pops out of no where when youve been clean for over a month.

from my own research and from people on this forum you can be completely free and have no lesions but still have the virus in your skin

so you think you are cured and free of lesions but then up to 2/3 months later one pops up (see gemmas post)

i hope you all fight it and become free of it quickly

was your skin totally free of lesions and recovering lesions - and for how long?

people say you need to be free at least 3 months with no new lesions - thats when you know its gone

Yeah I had only not had any visible ones for 1-2 weeks. Have bought some at home freeze stuff so going to to give it a try

Just wanted to reassure that the body will fight it off as the two small ones that popped up I left and they disappeared one went red quickly and went and the other one just went.

I was sure they were them and a few months ago I would have froze them but I could have been mistaken or now my body know what they are and gets rid of them quickly.

      thanks

      thats reassuring

maybe they were hair follicles and not molluscom?

it makes sense that you have to wait 3 months with none to be free

i do wonder if skin is contagious with no lesions present (ie between treatments) or during period of no lesions

When you freeze at home does it heal like the liquid nitrogen freezing does? Ie blister/scab over and then fall off to give flat skin underneath?

      hmm I'm trying to remember.

it definitely swelled up and got bigger and redder after a while. then it would either sort of burst and alot of the times they would start coming back maybe once or twice until it was gone for good. I dont think it works as good as when you go to the clinic but if you cant keep going then the home kits are worth while.

Thank you 😄 Not expecting it to be amazing but I last went to the clinic on March 17th. Booked a follow up appointment that got cancelled because of COVID-19 and I now have two new ones. Just want to try and keep on top of it so all of my effort in getting them frozen prior to this doesn't get undone! Have ordered a Dr Scholl freezing treatment and hoping it works ok. I've watched a few people freezing warts with it on youtube and it looks similar

      hey gemma

have had some where they are just like pus spot not shiny and no central dimple with hair growing out of - could these could be irritated hair follicles which if squeezed will they just go?

Hi. no that doesnt sound like molluscum especially if there is a hair growing out of it. I'd leave it unless its sore. Hope it disappears. folliculitus also looks like it sometimes
