Help, getting really down about Molluscum

Posted , 25 users are following.

I picked up Molluscum from a spa day back in March this year. I had the usual story of doctors telling me its fine and not to worry about it.

I then lost out on a relationship because of it in the summer and also started war on them.

I have had 3 freezing sessions at the clinic and new ones keep popping up or old ones coming back so I then brought a home kit as they wont let me back until three weeks have passed.

I am also using TTO which has helped shrink but never get rid of them.

I get really really down and upset about this virus as its been 5/6 months and new spots tend to appear over night. I have got to the point I don't know what is a little spot / blemish or what is a wart now and feel like I am treating anything.

Can anyone tell me how long they had this for? and also what do they look like when you are winning? Did they just stop appearing or did they appear then disappear quickly or all suddenly just start healing.

I just want a sign that my body is fighting it. I dont drink much, dont smoke, taking vitamins, work out etc.

I wish I hadn't taken so long to try cimetidine tablets to treat MC. It is an otc heartburn drug (tagamet) and is currently being studied for MC treatment. It activates your immune system to fight it. Within a few days of taking it the smaller pox flattened and dried out, the biggest oldest ones burst and started to heal. Two months to heal 40+ pox and Hate that i wasted so much time and money on the creams and dermatologist. Hope this helps someone!

Hey @sarah79377, thanks for sharing this! What dosage did you take?

I took one 200mg tablet in morning and one at night. I gave my 5 yr old 100 mg per night and had the same great results. Good luck to you I really hope it helps!

has anyone tried TRETINOIN CREAM I have read retinoids can sometime take them away maybe at a slower rate but if you have them cream why not try it along with the tagamet. HIT IT DOUBLE TIME!!

I have Tretinoin Cream to but have never tried applying it on MC lesions but I've heard it could also be applied on MC. I 'm so bummed that I couldn't take Tagamet cos I had a reaction when I took it the first time.

I have tried popping one MC after reading on one of the forums here ("How I cured Molluscum"). I got the core which looks like a small hard bead which may be the reason why it's hard to treat it with topicals. Crossing my fingers that this heals fast, I will seriously just pop them all if nothing weird happens. Haha

Hey @sarah79377 how long did it take to see results? thanks!!

i have went to 3 gyno's each telling me bumps are normal all along wanted to believe so very much But we all know our bodies and when tiny hard pimple keep popping out that you just cant pop is just not normal period i knew it just was not normal for me anyway. I have tried everything!!! i am seeing results from the Trentinoin i have the 0.05 percent and i have been butting it on twice a day now for about 2 weeks when it gets a little to sore or dry i back off for a day and in that time i put tea tree oil on them. To be completely honest i also just started trying teeth whiting gel (night white) from the dentist on them just once a day to dry them out it has a strong peroxide and if its safe on gums i thought why not my skin it stings a little at first but goes away after a few minutes. remember this is a virus on your skin and bleach should kill it. But im not a doctor just trying to kill this virus its terrible when you cant even trust the doctors. im just desperate and willing to try anything at this point. i also think if you irritate them by trying to pop them then put the medicine on it it works better so the creams can penetrate the skin and then your immune system can realize this area needs to be healed. it does take time so keep at it for 3 weeks or so before giving up. but i did start seeing results in a couple days with the smaller little spots that dont even have the white heads on them. good luck to all and if anyone finds anything that works for them please share. this is horrible to go though alone!!!!

Ohh thanks for letting me know about your Tretinoin results -- I might just try that on one spot I haven't pricked. I feel ya but I think it's more about the lack of medicine available to treat this stupid virus --- simply because it's benign and "not life threatening". Companies should realize that finding a permanent cure for this will make them richer cos everyone who has it would be willing to spend whatever just to get rid of MC. LOL

Anyway, I've popped around a total 12/13 over a course of a week (I know some people here would disagree with my decision to do this) but hey, I tried to keep it as sterile as I can, had iodine, tea tree oil, alcohol, cotton swabs, pin and tissue on hand. I also used the swabs with alcohol to push down the lesion until the nasty core went out -- this is also how I pop pimples to avoid any kind of infection. So far looking OK, praying that I don't get any additional spots in the coming weeks.

I also have a microscope camera thing that I attach to the computer just to verify if they are MC. They are very distinct upclose. I didn't want to pop anything that's not MC cos for sure that could spread the virus quickly.

I'm hoping this fixes my problem, I don't want my doctor to give me a lecture after I am able to visit her again hahaha.

Thank you for sharing this. I hope it will be behind quickly for everyone here. For everyone else with this and similar conditions, do not give up and stay positive. Only then you can get rid of this virus. I know it is annoying but much better that getting Herpes down there.

First step is get the biopsy done. Swabs usually do not work. Don't wait and see the doctor ASAP. If the doctor is refusing to do a biopsy find a different one. Make sure that you know exactly what you have, since there are quite a lot of things that look very similar and not all doctors know the difference. Not to scare anyone but I have this condition for 9 months now.

As soon as I got the first warts I went to a urologist. The doctor suggested that it was herpes and prescribed Valtex for 6 months. I was surprised with the diagnosis since it did not hurt at all. In fact I do not feel anything. That is the difference with Herpes.

The warts disappeared within a week and before I was able to get the sample tested. And I was sure it was the result of the medication. The diagnosis was difficult as it is since dating with this condition is not easy.

However, after 3 weeks taking Valtrex every day the warts came back. I was relieved and concerned at the same time. I went to a dermatologist and the doctor suggested that this is Folliculitis. I picked up few medications from the pharmacy but nothing was helping.

After a month I went to a third doctor and at that point I got the biopsy done and lab confirmed that the warts were in fact MCV. I was told that there was no magic pill for MCV and it will go away by itself with time. But it did not.

The new warts kept appearing at the same area. So I started using Hydrogen Peroxide on it and the warts were going away slowly. Then I started using Iodine solution daily for a week and they were gone after two weeks. I did not see any new warts for 3 weeks. I was really exited and thought they are gone for good.

However, I got sick with a flu and were not able to take a shower for several days and the symptoms came back. That is very very annoying. So will try round two and hope I will be more successful. Going to try ACV as suggested in this post and see what happens.

Hey! I appriaicte this post, going through the same now as i just spotted a few of them. Did the freezing help? thank you

yes I think at the end of the day time, drinking lots or water, keeping your immunity well and the freezing them was best. sometimes they took a few goes at freezing them others went with one. They will get you down as when one goes another comes but keep positive and I really hope they go quickly for you

Hey! I've been reading your comments and hope all is well. I waited months after my bumps had started since I have eczema and confused it for that, but luckily it hasn't spread too badly. Because of the pandemic, I have to wait until mid-July to get them frozen. He told me to not try and treat them myself, but they are spreading gradually and getting irritating. I bought freeze treatment, but would you advise freezing them off on my own?

Hi if they are really staring to stress you then yes get a home kit but make sure you dont do it a few weeks before you go to get it done properly as you dont want to get there and him say the skin hasn't healed from where you have been messing and refuse to do it. usually they say wait two to three weeks between treatments.

      hope that helps

I just hit the big ones (that burn sucks) and I think I left it on a little too long because my skin started to blister more than expected where my two biggest bumps are (I read that cryotherapy should result in small blisters but these were decent sized). It should be healed within my appointment next month I'm guessing. Also I ordered some Agmatine tablets and I've heard very good results for people so I'm going to try that and maybe get some Cimetidine as well.

Hey guys and to everyone on this forum.

I myself recently got CM I would say about 3/4 weeks ago, all on my inner thigh and bum. All i can say is if it was going to happen at least it happened during COVID19 when i am stuck at home anyway. I bought a solution that I found while researching about how to get rid of CM. It is called 'Molusk Cuteanous solution'. It contains Potassium Hydroxide at 10% which is the highest endorsed compound within scientific journals for the treatment of MC. I know that this doesnt mean it will be effective 100% of the time but it is worth a try. I have been applying it in total for about 2 weeks now, but I have been applying to each molluscum based on when it appeared. I have stopped treating some of them because it looks like they're healing: they have started to scab and turn black. While others have just turned more red and inflammed. I really hope this work as it is a horrific sight all over my bum and inner thigh region. I keep reminding myself it gets worse before it gets better so I guess patience and consistency is what I am relying on right now. I will keep you guys updated and see whether or not this solution does actually work. It does say on the packaging that the MC will disappear in 2-5weeks after applying it on each for roughly a week.

All the best to everyone and I hope you're keeping safe during this pandemic .
