HELP! I get a UTI every single month!!

Posted , 95 users are following.

First off, let me start by saying I have seen specialists, I have taken countless amounts of antibiotics and I follow every rule known to man to avoid UTIs.

I've been getting them for about 4 years now. The last specialist I went to gave me a 2 year supply of bactrim and clearly it doesn't work. I am extremely clean. I wipe front to back, I wash before and after intercourse (as does my partner), I always relieve my bladder before and after intercourse as well. I drink about a gallon of lemon water a day. I also drink a cup of warm lemon honey water when I wake up and right before I go to sleep (as this carries a lot of antibiotic properties). I take vitamins that promote healthy vaginal walls and bladders. NOTHING WORKS!

I have to pee all the time. I'm also getting recurrent yeast and vaginosis infections which I believe are causing the UTIs but I can't seem to shake those either. This is seriously ruining my life! I'm miserable!!! I've had so many tests done including a cervical cancer biopsy and countless blood work. Even had them inject dye into my bladder and take xrays.. Everything came back normal. I have been tested for STDs more times than I can count and I always comes back clean.

I am starting to think this is related to my birth control. I have the implant in my arm. I looked back on this and realized that the one time in the last 4 years I didn't have UTIs or any infections was the 6 months I was off of the depo-provera shot. Then I went and got the implant and my symptoms started again. I am planning on taking out the implant but wanted to see if any other women had this same issue?

I read something about an injection directly into the bladder to cure this? Any advice will help. I have also tried just about EVERY SINGLE over the counter product on the planet. I have wasted so much money. I just want a solution. WTF IS GOING ON?!!!

Have they done a urone analysis? They have to know which bacteria you have to properly treat you.

I have the same issue as you. I have been getting utis for 3 months nowsad... I'm so depressed.

They keep prescribing me Cipro as the antibiotic and that usually (and should) kill anything in ur system. But maybe 1 week after I get off the mess, I get a uti again.

I honostly don't think your choice of contraceptive matters.

I'm on non hormonal iud. Still get them.

I was getting UTIs every month for years, and I couldn't take it anymore. I had taken a few human A&P classes and I thought, what do kidneys need? Then, it hit me... potassium! I immediately started taking Potassium/magnesium. Problem solved! If I stop taking Potassium/magnesium for 3 days I will get a UTI. So, I have taken it everyday for the past 5 years and I have had 3 UTIs in that timeframe. It is a true God send. Please try Potassium/magnesium. It changed my life.

Did anything work for you? I have the same problem minus the implant. I take cranberry pills, cut down on sugars, take Women's Probiotics and been on antibiotics for months. Within a week to 3 weeks it is back. This time it never went away.

    Hi there!

I've been in the recurrent UTI boat since December 2016 - this was also around the time I began taking birth control pills. I've had several UTI's and been on tons of antibiotics since then.

We thought it might be my partner's "anatomy" not agreeing with mine, so we started using condoms for a couple months and I went off the pill. For those few months, I was fine! Not a single UTI.

THEN I started the pill again a month ago, and a week after that, I got another UTI then another round of antibiotics. We started using condoms again and I was still on the pill, and I've got a UTI once again!

I am CONVINCED it's the pill putting me in this misery. We re extremely careful with being clean, I wipe front to back, and pee after sex every time. This is the ONLY thing consistent with the UTI pattern I've had.

I'm stopping the pill today and speaking with my OBGYN in a few days.

Hope any of this helps and us ladies get the relief we need! This is so mentally and physically exhausting, I really hope this is the cause.

How r things these days? Did u ever find out the cause? I noticed u said u drink a lot of lemon water. I was too. I learned that it makes the urine alkaline and it shld b acidic? I don’t know if it matters? I stopped drinking it and I’m going on 3 weeks 2 different antibiotics and no resolve.

I was looking online for whats been causing my yeast and kidney infections and came across your issues. Girl I feel you I'm in the same boat as you. I've had a 24 hour panel run on my urine, MRI, sonagram and a cysto and everything came back normal. I get like 2 yeast infections a month. I'm sick and tired as well

I’m in the exact same boat. This has been a monthly occurance for me for almost 7 years. The only time they slightly subsided was when my fiancé and I split, and there was no intercourse. I do the full regiment....peeing before and after, only cotton underwear, going without underwear 2-3 times per week, showers over baths, wiping front to back, trying not to wear althetic pants with synthetic fabrics more than a few hours a day. I’ve had every test out there. MRI’s with dye...ultrasounds...bladder scopes....keflex...cipro....azo cranberry twice a day. You name it, I’ve done it. These started at 20, and I am now 27. I am extremely hygienic. I follow all the rules. Nothing works. One day of not drinking ridiculous amounts of water, and I can feel it coming on. I am not on birth control, and haven’t been for years. I have only had two partners in almost 9 years who were/are very clean men. I’ve read countless articles on what I should try, but nothing seems to help. They always come without fail. I have B+ blood type, and in the book “eat right for your blood type,” it says anyone with this blood type is more susceptible to them. There are about 50 of my favorite food that it says I should cut out to better my health according to my blood type🙄. Will try yet another thing....I just don’t understand how so many women struggle with this, and no one can seem to find a solution for it.

Hey! I have been suffering from UTI as well since the age of 20, I am now 25. I have tried many things too but nothing has worked for me.

I’ve had some success over the last few months with D-mannose. My gynecologist had suggested it and it seems it is actually working. TMI, but my UTIs always hit me after sex, and usually early in my cycle, right after my period. So, what I do is the first 2-3 times we have intercourse after my period is over, I’ll take 1000 mg of D-mannose. I’ve been UTI free for 3-4 months, which is miraculous... Hope this helps!

So hows it going with the D-mannose? What is it? A vitamin? Antibiotic? Hormone?

Hey! My UTI also happen after sex I have heard about DMannose, I saw a woman talk about it on YouTube. I havent tried this but I am now. Where did you buy yours? Do you take it after intercourse or before?

Consuming lemon water, and any acidic foods could be exacerbating the problem. I cannot have fruits, anything containing vinegar. Certainly no wine. Foods like mayo even have lemon. Can't have olives because they are soaked in vinegar. The list goes on and on. I have the same misery described here. Going to try probiotics for a while.
