Hemorrhoids - Rafaelo - Post procedure doubt

Posted , 25 users are following.

I had two Grade-2 Hemorrhoids and went through Rafealo procedure 3 weeks back to get them removed. My initial problem was the skin swelling during and post BM around anus (prolapsing hemorrhoids with immediate reduction) and no bleeding.

In the first week post ops there was little bleeding and no swelling. From Second week onwards skin swelling has returned back (skin protruding post BM and shrinking) and it seems like my original problem has returned. Not sure if that's Hemorrhoids or skin tag or swelling. I am seeing consultant on Sunday and will update..but if someone has faced this kindly share your experience..will give me some reassurance..

Hi everyone. This is so helpful, i had my surgery last feb. 5 and was having a hard time with BM. A week after my surgery i started to notice the lumps and it was so irritating. Feels like i am back to square 1. At day 10 PO, i started to bleed every after each BM. It feels like something is tearing from the inside everytime i try to pass. Then, the swelling starts abd i can not complete BM due to pain and bleeding. I ask my surgeon bout this and he just gave me medication to stop the bleeding. I took the med for about 3 days now and still no improvement at all. Like all of you i no longer know what is normal and what isn't. I am planning to visit my surgeon tomorrow.

so i had this proceedure 2 days ago, with full colonscopy in Brighton. absolutely no pain after, in fact i joked with family that i dont feel like iv had anything done, no bleeding, nothing. feel like i need a bm but not alot really comes out. scared to strain. everything is protruding out of anus the same as was before the op. Also have a rectocele so that may be causing the probs. what did you all take to keep bm soft and regular? how can you keep spotlessly clean when you cant fully go. Using bidet/shower but so scared of infection risk.

13 months on, and had absolutely no pain from piles anymore so I would say this has worked very well for me in that respect. The surgeon established that I have a grade 2 rectocele (you can google that) (Prolapsed bowel) and that does cause me some bulging and is uncomfortable when I need to go to the loo but no where near as painful as the piles. Sadly the operation for a rectocele for a female is not great and Iv done lots of research and don't think I will be going for that anytime soon. But if there are any females on here who suffer with piles, please ask your docs, to check for any prolapsed areas, prolapses are very common for women after childbirth and cause lots of similar challenges to piles, There is a support group on facebook for women with Prolapsed organs which has been extremely helpful too. Not sure if men get rectoceles which can be caused by large bowel movements and constipation, but worth asking.

Just seen this thanks. glad it was successful. How long was your recovery?

I would say fairly quickly, within a month, obviously very scarey to go to loo. And defo need to keep up your fibre and go regularly, a year on and none of that screaming pain I used to get with the piles though.

19 days post proceedure and still having slight bleed on BM. Doing best to keep regular but still feels like lumps are down there. Never had any pain throughout this whole thing. When I need to go feels more urgent now and uncomfortable. I don't think much has improved tbh. No follow up appointment yet, but so far I feel that nothing much has been done. Haem are not swollen and haematosed out, but all very lumpy and still bulging from that area, so unsure whether they are gone or will get painful again at some point. Certainly isn't what is advertised for this "brilliant lifechanging" proceedure.

It's such a relief to see others experiencing what I'm experiencing. I'm day 16 tomorrow and feeling worse each day. the swelling is the sane size now as my haemmorhoids at their worst! I was told i had a skin tag pre-op, but it was the size of a pea so I was dubious about that diagnosis. I asked if they could remove it during Rafaelo - they didn't and now, for the first time, it's swollen and painful just like a haemmorhoid feels.

I have a constant urge to go, but each time is scary as I'm so swollen and sore down there.

Having read how many others are suffering, and knowing that my friend who had it a week after me has the exact same symptoms, I feel like I've been sold a lie.

I'm impressed by those willing to trust this procedure a second time as there is no way on earth I would agree to that.

I rang my surgeon and he wants to see me tomorrow but I'm so scared he'll want to use the camera - I can barely get a gel suppository up there, let alone a camera!

Can any of you update us on how you are now? Does it get better?!

Hi, I'm 13 months on if you are a female it could be a prolapse bowel causing you problems, please get a second opinion. Also read my post on my recovery. you can click on my name to see my posts, I just posted today. Sometime piles are there because of prolapsed organs pushing down. Search google for APOPS you will find a support group if it turns out to be something like that. So so many women have prolapses and don't even realise it. Best wishes.

Thanks. Did rafaelo work for you? How long was your recovery please?

Defo, healed within a month and no more terrible pain, 1 year on. Just other problems now.

I hope you get your other problems sorted.

Thank you. I'm seeing somebody privately tomorrow as my surgeon is no help and badly hurt me when examining me.

Can I ask what happened to your lumps that you mention? That's what bothers me most - the painful lumps. Did yours just slowly reduce? I'm 3 weeks post-op tomorrow and feeling more sore each day.
