How do I control the stress/anxiety caused by PMR

it seems the more I learn about PMR the more anxious I become.
i am sure most of you have felt this way especially at the onset.
How do you deal with this on top of all the other discomfort?
about two weeks ago I had a couple of great days like nothing was ever wrong with me. I felt so good I made reservations for a cruise and then after I decreased my pred from 11 to 10 it went down hill.
Although I am back up to 20 and the pain has mostly subsided the fatigue has not. Is this how it will always be or can I hope for more good days then bad?
also, the mild headache is stressing me out. Am I suddenly going to go blind while I'm waiting to see a neurologist to rule out anything else.
I used to to hate the spots on my arms but they have become the least of my problems.
Off ft to my GP today. Sooner or later when they see me coming they are going to lock the doors😃. I am their only patient with PMR. I also have a good rheumy now who fully understands the condition.

This is an old thread - try posting a new one to get more responses.
If you have PMR then the only real answer is pred, side effects and all, whether you see a GP or a specialist. But if you cut your carbs drastically it does help the weight gain and so does reducing your salt intake.
It is more usual to take the pred once a day not twice and 15mg may be enough if you had such a good response to 20mg. Taking pred 2x daily means there is pred in your body all the time, once a day means you have a fair bit of time without and that reduces the side effects quite a bit. Also you won't remain at those doses forever, once the symptoms are under control you start to reduce slowly and carefully to find the lowest dose that manages the symptoms as well as that starting dose did, it was your guideline.

You weren't wrong - it is just that on old threads there are fewer current forum users who will be "following". Not everyone has been here as long as me

Go to the top of the page and you will see a line starting HOme and finishing with Polymyalgia Rheumatica and GCA. If you click on the Polymyalgia bit it takes you to the "front page" of the forum.
There you can see all the current threads listed. To make a new post, on any page look at the right hand side of the page and you will find a black box with "Start a new discussion" and on that "front page" look just under the title where you will see a red box "Leave this Group" (but please don't!) and next to it a black box, New Discussion.
Does that all make sense?
