How I cured my acid reflux, naturally.
Posted , 202 users are following.
Hi: It seems like there are many more people suffering from acid reflux than ever before. Professionals offer only medications and surgery. I have suffered from acid reflux on and off for some 20 years. After much research and meditation on how the esophageal sphincter functions, I discovered a low cost solution. Two or three times a day I drink orange flavored carbonated mineral water. After drinking it, I hold back the burp for 3 to 5 minutes, sometimes longer. Then burp the air out. Make sure to always do this right before bed. This forces the esophageal sphincter to work hard to hold down the increasing air pressure. It is the only way to strengthen this muscle. After nearly 2 years of nexium, I am now completely off acid blockers and only take a sip of water with sodium bicarbonate before bed, just for protrection. Please try this and let me know if you also find relief from acid reflux. I hope you do. Regards, John

Hi John,
Early 30s, healthy otherwise, developed some GERD symptoms recently. Negative for h.Pylori. Had an upper scope, esophagus is fine. Going in for the 24 hr pH test in a few weeks. Not currently on any meds.
Anyway, when I drink a full can of carbonated water, I am able to stifle the belch by kind of holding my breath and tensing up my diaphragm, but after a few minutes it feels as though some air escapes up to the level of my upper esophageal sphincter. I can usually hold this back until it seems to go back down to the lower sphincter's threshold. Thereafter I can usually hold back the air almost indefinitely.
Am I doing it right?

Why don't you start out slowly by drinking 4 oz of carbonated water and then just practice burping. Don't hold it down. Do that for a day or two. Then when you are comfortable that everything is working properly, then just hold down the burp for 1 minute. Then release it. You may have some other issues besides GERD and this process will help to determine what the problem is.
Sorry, for the late reply.

Hi: When I had my 5 digestive issues, I found gastritis to be the 2nd most uncomfortable. Just when I thought I was making progress, it would come back. It is basically inflamed stomach lining that is sensitive to digestive acid. It also causes excess gas to form and burping. The cause can be slow digestive transit, medications, aspirin, maybe coffee. The best way to deal with it would be to take only time release medications. Also stop drinking coffee, soda pop, and go vegetarian. That can be difficult, but it will allow the stomach to heal. Also, take a gaviscon tablet before bed, then 2 vitamin E capsules broken in the mouth and swallow only the liquid. It can takes a few months to feel the progress. But stick to it, it is worth it. If you can handle yogurt, then eat 1/2 cup of organic probiotic yogurt 4 times a day. You can also find liquid probiotic in small bottles in the refrigerated section. Your digestive bacteria is likely also out of balance. Keep me posted to your progress. John

Thanks John . The only non veg i can eat is egg and i'm in to full vegetarian diet now, but even zucchini, greens and few other vegetables gives lot of bloating. Its been almost a year i stopped drinking coffee, soda and junk foods. I can't sleep at night as i need to wake up and burp for hours. I also get dizziness, extreme fatigue and confusion. I feel like a handicapped person with all these issues. i will take PPI time release and antaacid with vitamin e and liquid probiotic as you mentioned to see if its help and will post how i'm doing.Gallbladder surgery is always back in my mind when i run in to these digestion issues hoping it will solve, but looking other posts it does seems to be the right option.

I'm not sure how the gallbladder issue could cause your symptoms unless a stone has blocked the liver/gall bladder duct. Have you tried adding enzymes to every meal to see if that reduces the bloating? There is one called beano that works good.

I used to have digestive enzymes with food..but it didn't help. I will try Beano and will post how I feel.

Okay. I'm just trying to get you some relief from the bloating. If the enzyme helps, it could mean that your Bile duct is blocked by a stone. There are gall bladder cleanses but it can be painful if stones get stuck.

I did gallbladder cleanse before 2 months when i had very severe digestion issues and pain, after that the pain got reduced , but i still have the bloating and belching. majority of the time the whole stomach swells, some times on the left or right.
I also got the 20 billion liquid probiotics, vitamin e and d and B12 liquid form and gas x yesterday to give a try for a month to see if any change. between does sucrafate suspension helps in any way ?

I have not used sucrafate ,but it does have a list of side effects;"Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: an unusual/persistent feeling of fullness in the stomach, nausea/vomiting/stomach pain especially after meals, difficulty swallowing."
Did you have an MRI scan to confirm the diagnosis? Have you looked into stone dissolving medication or basket removal?

First off I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother as I can only imagine the grief and anxiety you have to go through. Anxiety can cause all types of symtoms in your body. It can even effect your swallowing as well as being bloated from swallowing a lot of air when you are anxious. Now do you feel a lump in your throat or just find it hard to swallow? Either one could be anxiety however if it’s a lump feeling it could also be caused by acid reflux. I currently have that symptom as well as pressure in my breastbone at times as well as burning pains in my back and tenderness all over. This has made me very anxious and I have also lost a lot of weight over the last few months and don’t know what is being caused by anxiety at this point and what is actually a physical problem. I would recommend speaking with a therapist to deal with your grief and sort things out with your anxiety. Please take care of yourself and let me know if you need to talk.

Hi Dakota,
I can't imagine what you are going through losing your mom at your young age.It must be very hard. That is enough to cause a lot of anxiety. I have had lots of anxiety in the past and it can give you a lot of symptoms. Try and stay away from spicy, high fat foods, milk products and gluten. I have done that and I feel a lot better. You may have an intolerance to diary or gluten. If you don't notice any improvement after a few or so then add them back in but one at a time and see if you notice any change. It would be helpful if you see some for your anxiety. You don't have to take any meds but just talking to someone about what you are going through may help a lot! Try and do some relaxing things and know this won't last!! Things will get better!!

Hi Dakota: I'm so sorry you lost your mother. That is an extreme life event and can cause both mental and physical distress. I hope you have a close friend or relative that can support you at this time. It can even cause digestive shut down.
When I was having my worst digestive issues, my uncle, who deals with pancreatitis, would tell me, yogurt, yogurt, yogurt. Sometimes, when we have digestive issues, yogurt is the only thing we can tolerate. It is naturally lactose free and easy to digest. It also reduces bloating as it drives out bad bacteria. I know you have been told to avoid milk products, but almost everyone tolerates yogurt and you can almost live on it as it supplies many nutrients. I recommend Organic if possible. You should also drink lots of filtered or spring water for the time being.
As you begin to feel better, you can add a vegetable and fruit smoothie. Also, shrimp is easy to digest and high in protein.
You may in fact have a physical swallowing issue. Possibly and esophageal pocket. Perhaps, it will resolve over time. I hope you feel better. Let me know how you are doing. John

I’m so sorry to hear of your loss, I would definitely say that your symptoms have been brought on by stress and quite understandably too.
i have suffered health anxiety for many years so do understand your symptoms, the swallowing is a big one.
I also understand your fear of endoscopy as I was terrified, I knew I had to do it though to find out what was going on, I was sedated and it was over very quickly. I do have a slightly loose sphincter so this is allowing acid to come back up.
I do believe stress for me has caused the majority of my symptoms.
have you tried some meditation apps? My gastroenterologist said deep breathing is really helpful especially for the digestive system.
ive also lost a lot of weight and I was underweight before.
Try doing some calm breathing and meditation, it can only help.
Best of luck 😊
