How long will cheekbone swelling take to go

Posted , 31 users are following.

Two weeks ago I got hit in the face and had a black eye and swollen cheek. The bruising is gone but there is still a bit of swelling on my cheek. How long will it be before I am back to normal. I saw my doc two days ago and he said its not fractured or anything but I thought that when the bruising went I would be back to normal and I am quite worried.

    Hi,

Ten days ago i had a massive blow to my cheekbone. After the swelling went down, i noticed a slight indent that is still red, plus small pip sized nodule under skin on tip of cheekbone. I thought maybe it was a bone fragmnet so went to A and E, Dr there said xrays wouldnt change the outcome, so shouldnt be needlessly exposed to radiation, as my injury is 10 days old and i could still function, open my jaw etc, but he thought probably fractured zygoma. He said if no improvement to follow up with GP.

Now left with red indent and nodule on tip of cheekbone, which looks awful. Dr thought nodule wasnt hard enough to be bone but thought maybe hematoma, it does feel sharp and uncomfy to lay on. What was the long term outcome with other people here? thinking of fat trasfer or getting nodule burred if it doesnt absorb.

Does anyone else have any experience of having a dent/dimple in association with a cheek trauma? I have a lump underneath the skin, which can be felt but not seen. It's more like a small, hard nodule. However, next to it, is a very visible, noticeable dent/dimple, which has only manifested since the facial trauma. If anyone else has had this experience, and their dent/dimple eventually resolved, I'd be very keen to hear. I'm wondering if this is permanent, or whether it's likely to resolve. I've read people's experiences on other forums, some people's have remained with them forever, whilst other people's have resolved. Most people just seem to have experienced the lump on its own though, without the dent/dimple. I'm guessing it's just a fingers crossed waiting game...

The hard nodule is a hematoma which will go away. My dent still remains but not that visible. Only u will know it's there. That's just my situation. Ur dent might go away also.

Hi there, I had a cheekbone injury almost 7 months ago - it has taken that long to go down.  It is still a little tender when I push down on the area, but it does take a long time.  Good luck.

Thanks for the post Priscilla. My injury happened 4 mos ago and it still feels tender when I press on it. The swelling isn't that noticeable to others, but I can tell it's there. My doctor told me it would take about 6 mos, but I had come to the conclusion that it was never going away. I will just keep waiting.

Hi there... Is anyone successful in reverting to normal please let us know.

I have similar issue. I met with a minor accident 7months back and hit my cheek bone. I developed a hematoma which has went down but seems it has stopped at certain point. Now my one cheek is bit fatter and also stiff. I have less sensitivity on one side. Any reply to my query will appreciate. I request you to share your experience of healing completely and also the time it has taken

Hi I was wondering if there is any improvement with your cheek bone. I fell just over 3 weeks ago and smashed my cheek on a marble fire place. ( not good) swelling and bruising has gone down alot but I am left with a red/ purple line which only appeared 1 week ago. Still slightly swollen but I have 2 marble sized lumps underneath my skin too. Make up can't even hide it. So fed up, hoping you can share some light. Hope your much better
