Always make sure you habe valacyclovir on hand. If yoir diagnosed with it by a dr. They will give you a rx for it .Take it everyday or whenever you feel an outbreak coming on. When i first found out i had it i wanted to jump off of a cliff.. but studys have shown that about 1 in 4 people have it. Don't quote me on that but alot of people have herpes. Sometimes if it is severe I buy cold soar treatment and use it. Soaking in the tub helps alot. Anything to dry out the soar. Unfortunately you will have to tell future sex partners. I say unfortunately because I know how hard it can be to say that to someone and feel like your diseased. Practice safe sex. I would also never tell anyone. I told my "best" friend and she told everyone because that made people want her more... she was just an asshat. We all know how girls are come on now. Just take it easy try not to stress yourself out. ? just know your not alone

This thread is amazing. I'm having my first out break and it's horrible. I've been to the doctor and he said he's pretty sure it's herpes but he scraped the only sore I had and it was excruciating. I work retail and so I am on my feet walking around all day and by the end of the day I can barely walk. Tomorrow is gonna be a long shift and I'm scared lol I'm gonna try the vasoline if I can get some before work. I'm literally in the bath right now lol and I havnt tried salt because that idea scares me. I'm also just getting off my period so wearing a pad has sucked. I've been taking perscription Tylenol and it's helped a lot but I don't think it's gonna be enough for tomorrow.
Thank you everyone for the tips, just seeing people supporting each other is making me feel a little better about all of this. I cried at the doctors office when he said he was pretty sure it was herpes. I just wanna know how long I've had it. I did have unprotected sex like 5 days before I started noticing it but idk because people say that you can have it for a while and not know so maybe it was just a coincidence that I had just had sex. But if not then idk, idk how to talk to him about it. Like I've also heard you're not as like contagious when you're not having a break out? But Idk I've always heard that this is like life changing which I guess it is, like can I ever even have sex again? How will I ever find a man that would want to be with me??
Sorry for some of the rant, I'm too embarrassed to tell anyone, Idk why, so I havnt gotten to get this off my chest.

Hello everyone, I was diagnosed with HSV-2 a while ago. Well just recently I was dealing with a new outbreak (not the first one) and I was trying to find some remedies as I have no health insurance so I was stuck. I research and research and found a natural organic ointment that help with relief in about 4 applications. It called Propolis salve, made from bees! I got mine from a health all natural store but you can order it online. It’s very thick and has a natural salve smell but goes on easy and stays put. Urination isn’t so painful as the salve is so thick and stays applied for hours. I applied the salve for about 5 days 3 times a day or more depending on the situation and and can say that it help heal me quickly and relief was approaching.
The only down side of the salve is that it stained some underwear I had, but I’ll take that any day over the pain from the outbreak. I hope this help some of you with the outbreaks and brings relief to you all soon.
Propolis Salve made from bees!!! Let me know if anyone else has tried it and how it worked for you all!

So lab results came back and I have hsv 1. But I had a genital outbreak which isn't the usual but can happen. I'm not sure what it all means, like 1 and 2 are both herpes but Idk

I know I'm very late to this thread but I really need help. I've never had an std before and my habits have always been safe yet I'm on day 5 (I believe) of my first outbreak. A week ago I went out with a female friend and we had a great time. Too great that I woke up the next day with zero memory of who/what/where/when/why/how. I have no clue and I trusted my friend that nothing happened and I was safe. The next day after shaving I noticed what I thought was a nick. I thought I cut myself so it was no biggie. Two days later it turned weepy and somehow became larger. Since I'm very sensitive and my skin is a bit thin, I thought my underwear was rubbing it and making it worse. It never occurred to me that I needed to see a doctor. Jump ahead 3 more days and I can barely move. I just had the worst fever I've ever had in my life and to make matters worse the situation between my legs was excruciating pain. I started to suspect I had something at that point and all research pointed to herpes. So, today I went to a gynecologist who confirmed my fears. When I explained that I have no clue how this happened she took swabs and is testing me for other STDs. She thinks I was assaulted while I was passed out, yet my friend insists that didn't happen.
The kicker is, I'm happily married, and on vacation. I had to break the news to my husband today, who bless him, said he'll stand by me no matter what. But I feel like complete trash. My mind is all in a disarray. I don't know what to do or who to turn to. I have 2 more weeks in this trip and I don't think I can trust my friend anymore. Not to mention the unbelievable pain, the unsightlyness that runs from front to back so I can barely clean myself, and now, my period. I think I'm going to lose my mind. I know herpes isn't the end of the world, but it's the not knowing what really happened that's killing me. What if I have something else?

Hello all, how are the sores best dealt with... keep moisturized by using Vaseline like a pee barrier and ease of movement or leave the sores to dry out and use numbing cream when it gets too painful?
im a few days into my first outbreak and I cant even handle the blisters so any quick replies will be mega helpful and in time for my sores!!! my doctor has only given me a weeks worth of Acicylovir but nothing else also home remedies are welcome!!

hello everyone, i came to this page when experiencing my first outbreak and i must say i found so many of these things helpful so thank you for that! I also thought it would be helpful for me to share my personal way of relieving pain since this way has been SO effective. First of all, i wanna share that i was in SO much pain that i held my pee in for 15 hours, i went to the emergency room in the middle of the night. i was in agony. it was so bad that i was so dehydrated from avoiding drinking anything, and i had to pee so bad that i actually ended up peeing myself by accident. so if anyone has ever experienced something similar, i feel your pain. anyways, i went to my local pharmacy and begged them to give me lidocaine. it was a little pricey, but i promise you it is worth it. i use it to go pee and it numbs all of my sore spots and stays numb for about an hour afterwards. i also recommend taking ibuprofen, it relieves some of the pain and helps me fall asleep better. if this is your first outbreak, even if you feel like it may be a yeast infection, make sure you go to the doctor right away to get checked out. im telling you, the longer you wait the worse it will get. definitely ask for a prescription and refill of Valtrex, and that way if you happen to have another outbreak you will be able to stop it as soon as you feel symptoms. the last thing i would recommend, is buying some kind of pads, wetting them with cold water, and put them in the freezer. i put it on and it isnt too cold like an ice pack, and it takes a bit of the pain away. i really
hope someone will find this helpful!

I've been going through this for 6 days. Peeing is unbearable any ideas as to when I will get some relief. I'm on hydrocodone to eliminate some of the pain which helps some. but peeing is absolutely terrible

im the same on day 4 but slightly easing up.
i have a luke warm bath in the morning, use a soap substitute to wash teally gently , dab dry, during the day ill dilute salt water and dab and dry & in the evening an epsom salt bath which teslly helped todsy, soaked for 10 mins.
the inly relief from going a wee is getting a bowl, squatting over and pushing hard so your wee is pressured out and doesnt touch the sores! (has been taking me up to an hour with loads of wet tissue for past fee days)
hope that helps a little

Hopefully everyone is doing better. I too have been in same boat, I was diagnosed 9 years ago when I had my first breakout. I have always been a happy person but during that time I literally non stop thought about killing myself. Seriously. I was able to make it through it by bathing as much as possible and using the numbing cream. I came across this thread because I am currently experiencing another breakout. This is only my second breakout in 9 years. I feel clueless as to what to do because I haven't had to deal with it for so long. luckily when I was pregnant I was prescribed the pills and still have those on hand. No numbing cream though. Going to try diaper rash cream to see if I can heal this up quick! I'm so glad I came across this thread because I literally feel so alone in this!

Hi @SJW88 you're lucky with the breakout frequency, I've had two in just over a year. the first was definitely worse, I cried so much because of the pain, and could barely walk.
In my first outbreak the pharmacist recommended a high dosage of acyclovir and Ibuprofen tablets, aloe vera gel and Mucogyne gel.
I found the aloe vera gel would definitely sooth the sores but eventually make the sores rub as the gel turned sticky as it dried, but REALLY now, I couldn't recommend the Mucogyne gel ENOUGH!!! It basically lubricates the area to stop movements from further irritating the sores, its available online (£7-10) but if you can't find any, then a plain water based lube will do. I carried on using the aloe vera so I could sooth the painful sores and at the same time used a lot of the Mucogyne to loosen up the area.
I only used Ibuprofen and mucogyne gel again in my second outbreak as it was a milder outbreak (literally 2 sores).
I also wrapped a few more layers around a hot water bottle so it was more warm than hot and rest it over the area for small periods of time, I found the warmth was way more soothing to the area than using an ice pack.
vaseline also helped when weeing but actually made it difficult to clean the area properly because it was quite sticky and water resistant, so personally I'd stay away from vaseline and maybe stick to numbing cream?! basing that on the other guys suggestions here as I gave up and just leaned really far forward so my wee wouldn't touch my sores and applied extra extra amounts of the mucogyne gel over the sores just to be safe.
I really do hope that helps and if you find other ways to treat the sores please update the chat!! all the best!!

@SJW88 I forgot to say bathing the sores in salt also stung a lot but helped the sores heal. That was an essay of a post but i hope that helps you guys
