Hi Wendy,
Saw your post. I am almost five weeks post op and exhausted and was looking up info on that, which lead me to your post. I am wondering if you ever started feeling better, more normal. I had a pretty major kidney surgery last year that was open surgery, not laprascopic and don't recall feeling this bad this long. Plus, not being able to eat right (yet), is pretty awful too. How have things progressed with you?

I am so sorry you are fatiqued like I was. Was being passed tense. I was fatigued for almost 4 months. I am being honest with you. I could not find anyone with the same symptoms as me. My blood pressure has been low since the surgery back in june and noone seems concerned. I got my life back around October and then got a UTI and went on a short run of antibiotics and ended up with CDIff. I just finished the last of my Vancomycin and hoping I am now on my way to me again.
What other symptoms do you have? Have you told your Dr about the fatigue? We never really know what caused it for sure. Could have been the reaction I had to anesthesia, maybe effected my Edrinal glands? Maybe it was from insomnia?
What I can tell you, try to get some exersize everyday, walk...drink tons if water to flush anything out of your system. Eat low fat as not to upset your stomach. Bland for a while, turkey rolled in swiss cheese, no fat greek yogurt, oatmeal, I eat gluten free breads and snacks.
I hope this helps, you will probably bounce back better than me!!!! Keep a positive attitude and let me know how you are doing xo

Thanks Wendy. I thought about calling my doctor to let them know I;m this wiped out this far past. I had someone else mention gluten free too. I think I'll try that. Are you able to eat a little more normal now? Glad to hear you're doing better as far as the tiredness goes but the UTI/Cdiff is not good. My mom had that not long ago. I deal with kidney issues also so am very familiar with UTI's. : ( No fun. Hope you get back to life, too now. Thanks for the reply and encouragement. Surgeries are just rough all the way around! : /

Yes Maria, I am eating a bit more normal...but I am still wanting to give my intestines easy to digest foods for now. I had a small slice if pizza one night and did ok with that??
Are you fatigued all the time or just tired. I had never experienced anything like it before this. Are you finding any ither answers on these boards about hiw you are feeling?
I found the Doctors frustrating as they didn't seem to care much and just dismiss me. I have definetley taken more control of my health from this experience, if I don't feel right I listen to my body and if I don't like a Doctor I find a new one.
Let us know if you get answers.
Stay strong! Xo

I am pretty much tired all the time....just no energy. I had also had a bout of diverticulitis just a month before the surgery which I never knew I even had diverticuli disease. That could be playinng a role I guess, but overall, I feel like it is this surgery that has wiped me out. I am having to be on a high fiber diet for the diverticulitis issue and that kind of contridicts the gallbladder diet. Although my surgeon says I can pretty much each normal by now. I agree about taking your health into your own hands. I have had many strange medical issues over the years, ones that a lot of doctors don't fully understand so when I try to tell them things, they do get irritated at times. I have a large brain cyst I had surgery for in '05 and then they found one on my kidney that caused my kidney to grow to twice its normal size...had that and part of the kidney removed last year. So I've gotten to know my body very well, let's say, and pay close attention to what is normal and not. I even wrote a book that was published about my brain cyst experience and trying to get doctors to listen, "It's all in Your Head." You have to be an advocate for yourself for sure. But I almost feel like this gallbladder surgery was harder than the kidney surgery, which was an open surgery...not laparoscopic. I don't like stomach issues. They're miserable and make you feel so unwell, all over, as opposed to other medical issues. I just started reading about others' experiences on forums recently so still learning what others dealt with or dealing with. I appreciate your replies. Very helpful. Thanks so much!

Hi Maria,
Wow, I am so sorry to hear of your health issues...you have been through a lot. You sound like a very strong person.
As for the GB surgery, it seems that some people get knocked for a loop with this one. Some friends I know have bounced back so quick and others I have read on forums have stories to tell. I know for me, the surgery was easy...the recovery was hard. I worried myself SICK and so didn't sleep, so had insomnia for months, hence MAYBE the fatique? IDK, but it took me months to feel better. It was my first surgery ever so was really afraid to be put under. Then the CDiff, now bronchitis and I can't take an antibiotic. I am staying positive and I WILL be back to myself soon🙏🏻 And so will you.
I dont know why this surgery is so hard on some of us? Are you able to stay home while you are recovering? I agree the Doctors can be so frustrating! They don't listen. Bandaids instead of listening and trying to fix the root of the problem.

Do you guys have any updates on the fatigue? I'm 6 weeks post op and have bone crushing fatigue. Mg blood pressure is also 90/60 and fluctuated throughout the day. I'm so exhausted. Did the exhaustion and low blood pressure improve? Anything in particular that helped supplement wise? I'm going to go have my blood levels checked next week for any deficiencies. Hope everyone is doing better.

Hi Gayle,
Remember that your incisions are probably healing faster than your internal workings--it can take up to six months for them to heal. So your body is using most of its energy to do that. That's why you're so tired.
Some people take longer to recover from surgery, any surgery than others. But your digestion is doing well, so that's great!

I only got my gallbladder out 2 weeks ago but just exhausted as well. Started to eat normal things again just past couple of days. I wouldn't eat because I was afraid of what it would do.

Hi,
sorry it's taken me this long to get back to you. It's been 7 months post op, and i wish i could tell you i'm feeling better, but i'm not. I still have nausea, vomiting, fatigue, loss of appetite, insomnia, heartburn, and now stomachaches after i eat.
My GI is looking at me maybe having Gastroparesis which means my stomach is very slow digesting food so the food sits in my stomach rotting away. I have to have more tests to see if that is what it is. I've read that it's common after GB surgery to get this. For some people, it temporary and goes away after a few months, others end up having it the rest of their lives. Gastroparesis is a chronic illness, there's no cure. I pray everyday for my miracle that I will be cured and be normal again.
How are you feeling? I hope better?
