I feel spaced out, drunk/high 24/7

I've felt like this for about 3 weeks now. It hit me like a bus. One day I was perfectly fine, and then the next I felt like I was half way through my 10th pint on a Friday night. And it hasn't stopped since.
I feel spaced out, I struggle to concentrate on things. It's really hard to explain, but my vision seems to focus intensely on one object (like an up close macro photograph) & then everything else around me seems to fall away.
I can still function day to day. I can still talk to people, walk/run, make food etc. but I constantly feel drunk/high.
I've got exams coming up within literally weeks and this just cannot continue in to that period.
I don't know what to do. Welcome any suggestions. Thanks.
PS: I've never been on any medication before and blood pressure etc. are all fine. All good in the health department.

I haven't seen anyone mentioning depersonalisation/derealisation. I think that could be worth looking into.

that's what im thinking it is, it all has to do with anxiety

I've been feeling this way for few weeks, but I've had SMILE corrective laser eye surgery 6 months ago that didnt go perfectly. However, it appears that my prescription changed due to dryness. Even though this feeling of spacing out/not feeling present doesnt seem like a prescription issue, it may be. Check with your optometrist.

hello! not sure if you are still suffering these symptoms or not, but I was struggling with similar symptoms and it turns out it was due to poor posture. looking down at phone, sitting hunched over, sleeping on stomach etc. it was cause neck strain which cause that drunk spaced out feeling as well as anxiety. try working deep neck flexors, and some occipital release exercises! praying for you.

It's highly possible you have a vestibular migraine or a silent migraine associated with dizziness (hence you probably aren't feeling headaches). I felt the same for long, until I discovered the possibility of the above.

unfortunately it has not gone away for me. i have had this for 18 years. and yes you just learn to live with it. someone suggested to me that it is probably not a problem with eye sight but a problem with the eye muscle. Its called binocular visual dysfunction. It can be treated. I have not had a chance to get to the eye doctor for it. there are only two places in the US who specialize in it

might sound silly considering youve had this for so long but i was wondering if u ever got your cortisol levels checked, hormone levels or take any medication that could affect this?
do u think it could be an allergy also?

it may be derealization which is caused by anxiety, a psychiatrist can give you a real diagnoses and give you medication for anxiety if it's really needed, counseling can help too

After being refused by Mayo I was lost and didnt know what to do. My moms friend knew everything I was going going through and told her Chiropractor about my symptoms and he told her I really feel like I can help him. After 2 years I caved in and went to see him this past week after reading all his positive reviews online. He is unlike any Chiropractor I have been to before and it shows. People travel all across the country to see him. He looked at my MRI and said he found something that really stuck out to him and what is causing all my issues.. My top two vertebrae’s in my neck are very inflamed after taking further xrays he also found my neck is straight and has no curve. He said that with no curve in your neck and it being inflamed tells him my disks arent lining up like they should and are cutting off nerves going to my brain. He also pointed out from the MRI my brain should be alot closer to the vertebrae's than what it is. He put together a very intense course for me. Of course all the things he wants to do insurance doesnt cover and I expressed my concern with this actually working and that I have no neck pain. He said he is 91% certain he can get me to 75% or better in 8 week and from there hopefully 100%. He said I wouldnt do this if I didnt think it would help you. He said we who have whatever this it is so hard for doctors to pinpoint and everyone just wants to treat the symptom not the cause. He said "I want to treat the cause and I want to give you your life back". I am going to try it because EVERYTHING else has come back normal. I thought I would share my experience with you guys. I am praying this is it!!

Hi Karl,
I am still dealing with it, but I fell with the chiropractor and seeing a psychiatrist I am getting to where I need to be. The psychiatrist said that I have severe anxiety and it can cause all sorts of symptoms. I have been told that before, but I never believed it until I spoke with her. The chiropractor has been working on my neck because he said it had a reverse curve and a lot of inflammation that was cutting off nerves going to my brain. I have noticed a slight increase with certain things.

I am sorry you are dealing with this. It is definitely not easy!! I am still searching, but was diagnosed with severe anxiety and the medication I have been on is the only medicine that seems to help me. Thats why my psychiatrist said its anxiety and all of my tests have come back normal. Can I ask what tests you have had done?

I have noticed the brain fog doesn't last as long. I don't really have panic attacks either, but I do feel a sharp pain in my side when I get really worked up or driving in bad weather. Mine seems worse staring at a computer or driving in bad conditions.

Do you experience light sensitivity?

Yes I do. When I go outside I see black dots in my left eye.

hi! I have been experiencing similar symptoms for the past month or so and am getting very freaked out that this is something i may have to live with. when i saw the comment about the black dot in the left eye it really solidified my concern because i have been noticing the same thing for about 2 months. Still praying i have something else considering there seems to be no cure or even proper diagnosis. Would really love to talk to someone who understands what im feeling because everyone i talk to thinks im crazy or its all in my head. If there is any way i can contact you that would be great, thanks!
