I have a swollen and very painful lump on my clit hood, what should I do?

Hi, I've been having a problem for about five days to a week now. I didn't notice in the beginning as I didn't feel or see anything unusual but now I'm in a alot of pain. On the top of clit hood I have a swollen, reddish lump that's gotten bigger during the day yesterday and has been swelling probably everyday. I don't know what it is as I've never had it before, I'm 19 and a virgin so I know it's not an STD/STI. Also, along the left labia I noticed it's really swollen also but it doesn't hurt until it reaches the clit hood. The hood is swollen so badly that I can't see my clit without really stretching, which hurts. My left is primarily the issue side and as of this moment it burns. I can't walk, sit , sleep or move at all without going through a moment of pain first and I can only sleep on my back. PLEASE HELP!!!!

hi ladies! sadly i find myself in the same situation currently and i am unsure what to do. i noticed some pain around my clit a few days ago but I thought it was just bruised from rubbing to hard. as days went on the pain got more intense and now my clit is swollen on the left side. it is very painful to do anything, sit, walk, sleep. I have begun taking pain medication to help with the pain. the area is very firm to the touch. i am just wondering if this could be a cyst as well? i have not noticed any white spot, it just feels and looks like a lump. Is there anything I can do to make the process more bearable?

i actually went to the drs yesterday. they ended up draining the cyst and i feel sooo much better. the pain was too much for me to ride out.

I had one of these 2 years ago and also went to the doctors. They did a procedure to drain it by making a small incision but the needle to numb the area hurt so bad i still have nightmares. Now that it has returned i cant't imagine having to endure the pain from the needle again so I am totally freaking out. i have had broken ribs and natural childbirth and nothing has ever hurt as much as that needle. Is your cyst on the surface of the skin or far below?

I didn't actually have a white lump until approximately 7 days after noticing the little b*****d. It's hard to explain, but you sort of know when it's ready to explode, as the pain intensity is awful. I sat in hotter bath than normal when it popped, the amount of puss that came out was awful. You need to allow it bleed, to get all the poison out. It does have a nasty habit of gathering again. My doctor advised sudcrem or teatree oil on the small wound.

i believe mine was deep in the skin as there was no way to pop it. i understand what you mean about the pain of the needle. but for me, that pain was nothing compared to the pain the cyst was giving me. I also took some pain reliever just before my appointment so maybe that helped with the shock of the needle. right now i am also on antibiotics to ensure the cyst doesnt return

Ouch! I feel your pain, try not to faff with it. Bathe that area in warm salty water, it takes approximately a week to come to a head before mine burst. My doctor prescribed, after explaining over the phone my issue a mild steroid cream, and then penicillin. The abscess has a nasty habit returning after it bursts, it needs to be drained fully. I am now on my second lot of antibiotics. Try and wear light airy clothes, nothing tight and clothing made of nylon.

So once it "bursts" how do you make sure its fully drained? i also have one of these and it feels like it is down deep so I am not sure how it will burst since its not on the skin like a pimple?? Did the antibiotics and cream help Sarah025???

Sounds gross but when mine burst I cleaned my hands and then just used toilet paper to gently squeeze the area until only watery blood like fluid came out. I then applied a thick layer of the antibiotic cream and repeated for 3-4 days as per Dr orders. Strongs xx

i am so so so glad i finally googled this situation!!! I am 40, and just a month or so ago found the lump, and when i touched it i wanted to scream in pain!! i was so scared i left it alone the first day. the second day i almost threw up from the pain of messing with it but found when i massaged underneath it kind of worked its way to the point of bursting and it was immediate relief. I didnt even think to mention to my OB at my appt a week ago, but i do go back on the 25th and will be mentioning this! it returned (left side also) one time a couple weeks after the first time. and i just noticed today its back again!!

I'm slightly OCD so when i released the puss, i did keep at it to make sure it was drained. the first time i was waiting to see if any hard small lumps might comes out of the area. Freaked myself out.

Thank you ladies for sharing!! I didnt expect to find anything online but i read every single comment and feel there were some great responses and suggestions!!!

      xoxo

I have had this issue for 24 years! I first got a large cyst on my clitoris (the size of a golf club) and another on the left side of my labia aged 17. I was given 2 lots of antibiotics and it eventually came right although I remember spending about a week in bed.

Since then I have had cysts on my labia intermittently - usually when I am over stressed and these last about 5 days. I have been to doctors but none seem to know what it is. Most recently I thought it was bartholinitis cyst but a specialist told me they are in the wrong place for this and more like 'acne' for the genital area.

Anyway, I now have one on my clitoris again, 24 years after the first one and it is very sore. I will try a sitz bath. Although I'm in pain I am so glad to have found this thread. I have always felt like a complete freak as no one else I know has ever had anything like this. Thanks

This is a very old post but I'm kind of experiencing the same thing. I'm a teenage virgin and I've not had a sexual partner of any kind so I know it's not an STD/STI.

Over the last 24 hours I've noticed the pea sized lump. When I press down on it it's hard and is painful. Nothing happens, except pain, when I squeeze it. And uppon looking at it it's a reddened lump. I only noticed it yesterday as it hurt when walking and wiping after using the toilet.

I'm not an adult, and obviously can't go to the doctor at this time anything you could suggest? Or any advice you could give? X

      Hi Rexy

I would, in the first insist make an appointment with a doctor. Meanwhile take warm salty bath, don't use soaps in that area, and if you have any tea tree, put a few drops into the water too, as well as the salt.

Take care, and let us know how you get on.

      X

      Hi Ashley

Don't be embarrassed, our female bodies are challenging. None of us know what triggers this painful cysts /lumps.

I would recommend you visit your doctor, and have a chat with them.

      Best wishes Sarah
