I have a swollen and very painful lump on my clit hood, what should I do?

Hi, I've been having a problem for about five days to a week now. I didn't notice in the beginning as I didn't feel or see anything unusual but now I'm in a alot of pain. On the top of clit hood I have a swollen, reddish lump that's gotten bigger during the day yesterday and has been swelling probably everyday. I don't know what it is as I've never had it before, I'm 19 and a virgin so I know it's not an STD/STI. Also, along the left labia I noticed it's really swollen also but it doesn't hurt until it reaches the clit hood. The hood is swollen so badly that I can't see my clit without really stretching, which hurts. My left is primarily the issue side and as of this moment it burns. I can't walk, sit , sleep or move at all without going through a moment of pain first and I can only sleep on my back. PLEASE HELP!!!!

    Hi!

facing the same problem i got EXTREMELY worried. till i messaged my Mom and saw this post. Apparently as a baby i was so sensitive down there i would get them from diapers to clothing.

i feel EXTREMELY better knowing its a zit and i'm not alone. i have been with my partner for 2 years we are both clean. Mine hurt so bad i ran to the bath. relaxed and i SURPRISINGLY popped the sucker! its still huge and it DOES HURT! but it can be done. just relax. i wouldn't recommend popping the pain is TERRIBLE and it hurts to walk.

and yes My man was concerned till he saw this post! thank you so much mine is right under the hood. hurts bad but it does get better. heat does help open the pour, and with the healing process! i had ALOT of pus and the pressure did stop. it will throb though!

mine was small and this is day 4. hurts to wipe, and it was small now its the size of a grape.

    remember ladies!

Herpes= small and more then one in a "cluster". (still multiple in the area. almost like Razor burn. )

Cyst= only One, and happens from something dirty. (water, clothing, hygiene.) and like any normal zit it will have a white head.

    hope this helps!

figured id share my story! ill update later.

update: so i check on my zits alot to make sure it is healing properly. but also cause im one of those women that i pop a big zit once i wait and it can be hours-days later. and it will have a whitehead on it. the second pop was MUCH EASIER! not as much pain and pop immediately.

pressure is gone, so thats probably why it didnt hurt so bad the second time around.

id also recommend after each pop or each drainage. is new underwear, each time.

it keeps it clean and also its kinda like its own "bandaid." helps heal. id also do a espone salt

    baths, checking on it.

now the big question. did it hurt to wipe.

    plus side it did not!

    😃 hope this helps ladies!

A little late to the party but googling the same symptoms after having this for the 4th time in about 7 years.

The first time i booked to see the GP but the morning of the appointment i found that it popped ive got a scar where it popped but over the years still managed to have the same problem in the same place.

I find very hot bath and holding a hot wet flannel on the area (as hot as you can cope with) help to bring out the head of the cyst/lump which brings on the natural pop ... so gross but it seems to happen to a lot of people and the pain can sometimes be unbearable. It's not been anywhere near as bad as the first time i had it but i think the heat helps the pus stay soft and thins the skin to be able to pop on its own.

I'm in no way a medical professional, just a woman who has gone through this a few times and just browsing for causes and ways to prevent this happening again. My mum has the same problem so i doubt i will be able to stop it.

This is the worst pain ever!! I have had this recurring off and on for at least 10 years. The first time it happened it hurt so much to even walk so I went yo the ER to have it excised. They used local anesthesia and the excision was the worst pain I had felt in my life. I even had to have morphine after the procedure because of the pain. I have had it excised at least 3 times. The best way for them to do it is by sedation and NOT local anesthesia. I just had one recently and I was so relieved to squeeze out the puss. I wish there was a way to prevent them.

hi everyone i know this is an old thread but thought you may be able to help. I think I may be having the same trouble as you guys. For the last 3 months right before my period I have a lump appear on my clitorous. The only way I can describe it is its like a blister like you get from your shoes rubbing. There is no white lump but it does pop and only clear liquid comes out. I have been to the doctors who didn't have a clue what it was they took a swab and everything come back all clear. she said it could be down to friction but I'm starting to think not as it keeps coming back. The bigger it gets the more uncomfortable it gets until it pops, not sure if it's a cyst like some of you ladies are describing or not or if it's something to do with my hormones I'm not sure but its becoming a problem and a sore one at that. any advice would be greatly appreciated

well im having a biopsy tomorrow and im dreading it! ill let you all know how i get on!

So Ladies today I went for a biopsy but the Dr's took one look and new it was an abscess (I had suspected this since February) I had a local anaesthetic in my clit (ouch) then they lanced and drained it and said that should be it. He thinks when it originally burst not all of it came out and has been there all this time, causing the pain and tenderness on the 8000 nerves down there! I am hoping this is the end of my situation although reading this seems like it may return! I didn't need any antibiotics or anything so fingers crossed!

Hi, I have the same problem, same situation I'm 19 too and a virgin, but I can't go to the doctor right now because I'm living at home and covid is a big problem here. Based on other replies I should wait it out until it bursts? Is it painful when that happens? I work in retail so I stand a lot I'm worried about it bursting while I'm at work. I don't have a bath at home just a shower so I can't do the epsom salt baths either. This has never happened to me before and I'm nervous. Happy I found this discussion though as everything else online pointed to vulvar cancer, which is apparently almost exclusively found in older women!

    i am having a similar issue except mine is like a longer growth next to my clitoris and only the top bit of it swells up. ive had it for a couple months now and maybe longer-most of the time it is like floppy flesh but when the top swells up it turns dark and is really painful. i do see a white spot on the tip but i dont think it has ever burst - somehow the swelling goes down after a couple days and it returns to my normal skin color. i have a lot of anxiety around doctors and cant bring myself to get it checked out ;;;

I have had this happen to me 3 times now currently experiencing the 3rd at the moment. the 1st time was back in February 2020. It grows on the right side of my clitoral hood. it got to the size of a large walnut in shell of course. I did do hot compresses, sids baths and it just kept getting bigger. I must say this was the worst experience i had i could not walk, lay down comfortably or sit. i went 5 days with it just growing i went to my Dr. which then sent me to the ER as it was something she could not do in office as i was in so much pain. I was put under in order for the Drs to be able to drain and clean. the Drs were dumb founded on what they were looking at as they did not know what it was. i had like 5 Drs in the ER in my room while the procedure was going to be done. I was finally diagnosed as a Periclitoral abscess not common at all and not a whole lot you can find on internet. 2nd time 4 months later it returned. i took it upon myself to drain it. I do not recommend it. now I am on my 3rd time currently and made a Dr. appointment for this time around, as again i have major discomfort weird sensation due to all the nerves we ladies have in the area. just have to tolerate this 1 more day before i can get in to see Dr. best of luck to all the ladies that have experienced this as i feel your pain. i hope my post helps those that are not sure on what it is or what is going on. i have no answers on why it keeps returning if i get them i will let everyone know.

hi, i was just wondering how your 3rd dr visit went? a small one just popped up for the second time in four months and im dreading going through it again.

This is the only resource I've come across since this developed for me. I went to a dr. after a week since the onset after the swelling and pain became far too much. It is an abscess despite not appearing white/yellow it has a bruise/blood pooled in the center and I've never been in so much pain before (and I've had three children and had to be stitched up following that before, that was nothing compared to this). I started antibiotics and have to return if it hasn't essentially resolved in 5 days and I an continuing to use the hot compresses. Hoping for relief soon!
