I have a swollen and very painful lump on my clit hood, what should I do?

Hi, I've been having a problem for about five days to a week now. I didn't notice in the beginning as I didn't feel or see anything unusual but now I'm in a alot of pain. On the top of clit hood I have a swollen, reddish lump that's gotten bigger during the day yesterday and has been swelling probably everyday. I don't know what it is as I've never had it before, I'm 19 and a virgin so I know it's not an STD/STI. Also, along the left labia I noticed it's really swollen also but it doesn't hurt until it reaches the clit hood. The hood is swollen so badly that I can't see my clit without really stretching, which hurts. My left is primarily the issue side and as of this moment it burns. I can't walk, sit , sleep or move at all without going through a moment of pain first and I can only sleep on my back. PLEASE HELP!!!!

hey. So I have hs. look up nobsabouths. my sweat glands get clogged all over my body but anyway...

I use Turmeric powder add water to make a paste and put it on the lump. let it sit a while 5-10 min. That softens it up. Then I get in the tub with warm water and put Epsom salt in a wet towel. I place it on the lump. I do the salt a few times. Usually it pops within 30 minutes of me getting out of the tub. Sometimes I have to do it a few nights in a row.

It was important to me to register and comment in here. I'm shocked this is the ONLY thread/Comment/Advice etc on the internet I could find for this problem and it wasn't easy to get to. It seems like a lot of women deal with this and probably a ton more that either don't know it or don't say anything. If for nothing else than a thank you to the women who posted before me about what they were dealing with that allowed me to sleep without being completely concerned and freaked out that something was seriously wrong. I had this problem for the 1st time starting a week ago. A bump formed on the left side of my clitorus in between the skin where I could put 1 finger on the top side and another underneath it. It started getting sore and to about the size of a pea. After reading another article I started using cotton balls and Castor Oil and soaking the cotton ball which was a real pain, and placing it right on top of the pea size cyst or whatever it was multiple times a day and night. I haven't had sex since my divorce 3 years ago so thankfully I wasn't concerned about an STD. Finally today, about 30 minutes ago, I went to remove it and there was blood on the cotton ball. Thank the lord it finally popped. And sure enough all better. No pain, No issues, No more pea size hard ball. Wasn't cancer, wasn't some freak issue. Seems it was a pretty normal issue popping up. I will say I used summers eve spray for the 1st time last week too. A coincidence maybe but I'm never touching it again.

Hi ladies, I've been following this thread for over 3 years now. I have found a solution that works for me. Please read on.

My first periclitoral cyst happened in 2017, turned into this huge swollen mass that involved my clitoris. Was taking Motrin every 6hr. Horrible pain I would not wish on anybody. Eventually it ruptured. Happened again a year later, not as painful. Got referred to OB and she went in and cut out the cyst wall. Was an in-office procedure. The numbing injections were the worst pain I ever felt, and I have great pain tolerance.

I thought that was the end of it, but then the cyst came back. Much smaller and not as debilitating, but always happened around my period. OB thought she might have not removed the entire cyst wall and gave me the option to get it removed under general anesthesia. No guarantee it would fix the problem though and it could cause nerve damage, so I said no.

Birth control was another option I didn't want to pursue. OB started me on spironolactone 50mg twice daily by mouth. The med is for blood pressure, but it has antiandrogenic effects and she hoped it would help block the testosterone surge prior to mensturation that seemed to be causing these flare-ups. I have oily skin so she thought this would help with the folliculitis that appeared to be causing the cyst flare. She also told me to take Bactrim DS twice daily (prescription antibiotic) whenever I felt the cyst starting, but the nausea was intolerable.

Spironolactone helped, but I was still getting flare-ups every 3 months. I got a referral to dermatology. The best fix for me has been getting Kenalog (triamcinolone) injections whenever I feel a flare-up starting. The derm injects it right into the cyst, and it starts to shrink in a few days. A couple seconds of pain that's not too bad for almost instant relief. It's totally changed my quality of life. Even if it's not a permanent fix, it's as close to normal as I've felt in a long time.

For those of you ladies who stress and cry about this, please look into spironolactone and get a dermatology referral. I've spent 4 years thinking about this nonstop and letting it affect my quality of life. Last year, it got so bad that I was thinking about it every day for a while. I worried about having sex with my partner and even wearing jeans or riding a bike. Don't suffer like me! There are solutions out there!

    hi!

i know this thread is pretty old but i wanted to get the conversation started again incase this is happening to anyone else, its really hard to find results on google. i am actually having this same issue, and this is the 2nd time i have gotten a cyst like this, it is above my clitoris on the hood and its pea shaped right now.. ive found that sitz baths several times a day are really good for easing pain and maybe even encouraging it to drain. The last one i had the pain was so unbearable and it was huge! i was put on ibuprofen 800mg. The gyno wasnt able to identify it, but by further research i think it may be called "periclitoral cyst" in which i found in an article. ive been having a lot of anxiety about these episodes but i hope it gets resolved! i will update if it goes away

Sooo glad I found this info! Thank you all for your advice!! Last month my gyno did "lance" my cyst but it's back again. Trying the compresses until i can get another appointment. Perhaps she didn't get it all?

I can tell you that I had to hold the nurse's hand during the procedure as it was so uncomfortable! Naturally, I think the worse and that it cancer but you all have put me at ease! Thanks, again!

It's very possible she did not get all of it, sadly. Same thing happened to me multiple times. Lancing is a superficial technique that will remove any pus/purulent fluid, but it doesn't get to the "root" of the cyst, if that makes sense. After 3 lancing appointments for my recurrent cyst, gyn did an in-office cyst wall excision, where she numbed me up, then went in with scissors and surgical tools and cut out the cyst wall. She got most of it, but even this technique was superficial, so whatever is left deep inside still flares up sometimes. The way it was explained to me, the only way to get rid of the "root" is through surgery under general anesthesia, which is risk vs benefit because it can cause permanent nerve damage and removing the root of the cyst could potentially cause another one to form. I hope you're able to get it figured out. Try getting a dermatology referral if you can. Wishing you all the best.

currently going thru this. i notice a small lump around thanksgiving & within the last 3 days its became the size of a grape. its very painful. ive been doing the hot compresses & taking a anti inflamatory which helps with the pain but you can tell when it starts to wear Off. Im going to try to get into the dr & hopefully get it figured out. i personally could go the rest of my life without ever getting one of these again!!!!!

Hi all. I am so glad to have found this thread as I am experiencing the very same problem. A swollen cyst on the fold next to my clit appeared 3 days ago, yesterday it was excruciating and called the dr. The anxiety of not knowing what it was was far worse to be honest, dr Google shows some horrendous things but I think what happened to me was I cut myself shaving, a small nick on the sensitive bit of skin there, and an infection set up. It is like the size of a grape and to touch it is agony, but the doctor said it's not cancer as it wouldn't flare up in a couple of days, and looks like a boil/cyst and that it will drain on its own, to leave it alone, and to take sitz baths 3 times a day to help it drain and heal, keep it clean. I did get a prescription for some antibiotics to help, and if it gets worse I may need to see the ob/gyn to get it drained properly but it was a relief to know it is very unlikely something serious. I do recommend that you get it checked out though as you don't want an infection to set up really bad, and try not to pop it no matter how tempting that might be x

i know this is an old thread but I've recently experienced this . in 2020 i had it come up for the first time and antibiotics seemed to work and a hole formed which then burst . This time i had an abscess under the clitoral hood , it didn't form a head and i was in extreme pain . I went to the hospital and was put on the emergency op list and had to go under General anaesthesia to have it drained and to have a few stitches . They left a tiny hole so it can drain any left over pus and was given a course of antibiotics for a week . The surgeon said it was a very nasty abscess anyone whose experiencing this id advise you all to see a medical professional do not leave it . i left it for 6 days and i was becoming very unwell had flu like symptoms . I see alot of people saying they had it lanced and i was expecting them to do the same for me but unfortunately i left it to late and an op was the only option .

ive been dealing wirh this for the last 8 years or so . i have been to my dr and in my case it is a cyst under or inside the hood it moves toward the surface and then deeper when it is closer to the surface, it pops easily before it gets too big and painful. right now it is deeper and has gotten infected again argh. it usually takes about a week for it to go from a little sore to impossible to walk. about that time it bursts, drains and then is almost immediately fine again. i have been meaning to have it removed for some time but i didnt have insurance till now i have an appt with my gyno next week to get it done. it sounds like no fun but better than it continually doing this crap. and like most of you, this is the first resource i have found with any info on similar situations
