I need success stories please!

I was just diagnosed with blepharitis in July and feel as if my life is over. I'm so depressed that it's incurable. What makes it worse is that the opthalmologist acted as if it was no big deal - describing it as dandruff of the eyelids with a simple remedy - baby shampoo.

Here I sit, a month later with the same symptoms. Haven't worn contacts. Haven't worn makeup. And for a 50 year old woman I would love to wear both again.

I did some research on my own and all I found was misery. Chronic cases in which no one ever improved. Symptoms lasting years. I feel as if life as I know it is over. It's affecting my family life as well. My husband doesn't get it. He thinks it's just an eye irritation and I should get on with it.

If I didn't have kids to raise....

Please no more horror stories. I've seen them.

I need to hear of people who live with blepharitis who have occasional flare ups but not constant symptoms.

Please!

Hi Ladies, Agnes thanks for all the info, very valueable. Just to say Ive read several articles in reputable medical journals such as "The Review of Ophtamology", dated 5th Sept 2013...basically it seems the main first step in tryn to get this condition under control is getting to the "cause". The cause of the bleph varies from one person to another , if its Demodox mites (which my gut is telln me is cause of mine) the Eye doc can confirm by simply pulling a single eyelash and examining it under the microscope, the antibiotic cream on the lashes is supposedly great as are the cliradex wipes...another reason can be sebhorric dermatitis and theres a basically a different therapry required for this form of blep but look I think we should all ask our Docs to identify cause as priority and then take it from there. I am headn to Eye doc next week and will be armed with a list of questions. I hope we all get to the root of our own indiividual causes of the Bleph and can regain some kind of eye normality and peace of mind,,,,everyonne please keep in touch and good luckk.....

I was doing alot of reading yesterday, I guess there is a,swab test that is sometimes used to help determine the caus of Blepharitis, it might be worth asking about.

It should at least be able to tell if it's a staph infection I think.
