I was first down to theatre at 8.30 on Friday also. I had the spinal block with no sedation. At on point it sounded as if the surgeon was building a bungalow in my hip! Very pleased with the tiny incision and soluble stitches. Hope you recover quickly.

      Well done Steph!

Gosh you were really brave to listen to it all? Can I ask possibly why you choose this? I am always so interested in the decisions made for the operation. Wishing you well and a very speedy and comfortable recovery Xxx

Hi Rose, my anaesthetist said he would be standing by with a sedative if I  needed it, but apart from a lot of noise, I was quite comfortable, so I didn't need it.

I didn't have sedation either..... I was used to the operating theatre set up having worked as a nurse some years ago and also I wanted to be part of the whole event, not just handing my body over at the door.....hmmmmmm think I probably sound like a bit of a nutter saying that!!!!! Ha ha ha

I agree, I really felt part of it and not just a 'body'. The surgeon even showed me the new hip before he put it in, I was impressed how small and neat it was, and I was kept informed of everything they were doing all the way through.

      H Gaby

Well done and now its all over. A lot of people get low blood pressure it can be to do with drugs they give you so take care whenever you try to get up and thats theres a nurse with you. My blood pressure is never very low normally but even mine went right down for the first couple oof days. Make sure you drink plenty too as that is supposed to help.

Hope you enjoy the Hydro today - Id love to know what that entails.

Thank you so much Renee for your thoughts and kindness, makes such a different. So pleased it's over with. Pain, low blood pressure and feeling dizzy, but, I can get through all this and come out the other side. Onwards and upwards.
