I've had sinusitis on and off for 3-4 years. Can we all share symptoms please?????

I dread it when I feel my symptoms coming on because I know I've got a long few weeks/months ahead of me!

Does anyone else have the tingling on the left side of face? Along with the constant head aches. Eyes feel like their popping out. Ears constantly ringing. Feeling sick. Dizzy?

I went to ENT when it first started but he wasn't very helpful.

What's everyone else's symptoms?

Hey guys. PLEASE READ incase you have been missing a trick like I did!

. I posted further up that I was on steroid spray for 4 months advised by my doctor and was taking sudafed nearly every day. The pain in my face was worse after taking the spray and my sinuses felt worse than ever! So they referred me to a sinus specialist.

The specialist put a camera up my nose where he revealed I don't have sinistus even though the symptoms are the same.. I have DRY SINUSES. He said there is no operation or medication that can cure this and I will have it for life. The steroid spray and sudafed dry out the sinuses even more. Even hayfever tablets. All the things I thought were helping were making it worse. I have stopped taking all kinds of decongestants and was advised by the specialist to use a salt water nasal spray. Since this my sinsuses are the best they have been in years! And the pain and pressure has gone for about 2 weeks now and hopefully many more weeks to come smile

Dry sinuses are triggered by air cons etc .. So by spraying the salt spray it makes it nice and wet so mucus can drain easier. The dry sinuses cause pain as the mucus drys inside the sinus and traps bacteria Causing pain and infections.

Just something for you all to consider incase the things you are taking could be making you feel worse smile

Hi . Yes I refuse to take the steroid sprays as I think they are emaking it worse. It's definitely dry sinus's with me too .The last time I used sinus rinse (salt water) it felt good although I felt bits of water were getting trapped in my ears, but I do acknowledge that seems better than any steroid or defiantly decongestants which makes you more blocked up. A word on gum tooth pain. My GP called it a "falicy" that it'd to do with sinus but I seen for myself how they can affect the gums as they are virtually resting on top!

I do have occassion have dry sinuses as i write i feel it. But the weather is so hot in ny i need the ac because the humidity also causes pressure. I am also have a couple of allergies that causes me to take antihistimes so i am kind of stuck when it comes to that. But the salt spray suggest is great

I'm scared to do the sinus rinses incase it goes to my ears and causes more vertigo, I only suffer balance issues now.

Also can I.ask do any of you suffer double vision? Mine I notice when reading or say I'm looking at a dot I see 2 one above the other.. Words look like they have a shadow behind them.

Hi, I get double vision when I have a bad attack, very unpleasant, I use dry eye drops it does help. I also use a humidifier which pushes lots of lovely steam into the air and helps with dry sinuses. Good luck. Jo.

Hi everyone,  I first had sinusitis in 2014 and seem to be getting it more often than not.  I've been given antibiotics (seems to depend on what doctor I see, as who gives me what), and went again this week after suffering with most of the symptoms you all describe.  This doctor said I had to wait until it clears up but has given me a months course of tablets to help with the dizziness.  Only problem is they make you drowsy and I drive a lot for my job!  Until I googled the symptoms yesterday I didn't realise it can last so long, and that it can be for life 😥.

Very reassuring to hear I'm not going crazy when telling people I have certain symptoms, like toothache, sensitive gums, and even the tip of my nose feeling weird!  But obviously awful to think so many suffer with no clear diagnosis.  I'm going to give the cutting out diary a try, which has been mentioned, but any other tips would be great!  I have a daughter of three (who I'm sure kindly shared her germs with me to start with!) and work full time, so being ill, grumpy and tired isn't really an option!!

I'm currently taking sudafed, ibuprofen, nasal spray and menthol inhalers - but still 3 weeks on have a horrible green (sometimes yellow/green) and thick mucus coming from my nose sad

Debbie, the colour of the mucus denotes it's a bacterial infection you have. I'd go back to the GP!

I know, it drives me mad that three chemists have said it sounds bacterial but GP won't prescribe antibiotics.  I've suffered less than this before and been given them, but it seems to be a lottery depending on GP 😔. I never really understood how bad sinus problems were, but gosh I do now!  Just glad I'm not going mad with other symptoms Ive had, like toothache.  Thanks to advice on here, I've been out today and brought saline/sea water nasal spray, menthol crystals and the chemist recommended Sudafed for congestion (as much stronger than the other Sudafed types). I hope you feel better soon 😊

Hi Debbie. If your really suffering and think antibiotics will help, go to your dentist, tell him you have toothache. He should diagnose sinusitis and prescribe antibiotics. Hope that helps.

If I don't have any joy at the doctors next week, I'll give the dentist a try - thank you.

Reading all these make me wanna cry. I come from the part of the world where little is being done medically (Nigeria). Or rather expensive medical care. 6years I have been struggling with chronic sinusitis. Everyday I wake up to one ache on one part of my head. For 6years one of my notril is blocked at all times depending on where I tilt my head to. Sometimes breathing with my nose gets painful that i just use my mouth instead. It feels as though there is an open wound inside my head on my worst day. But I realize the times I feel seek most are the time I think about it. I just do like nothing is there. It gets tooooo worse sometimes you would feel the world is ending. The ent surgeon I met few years ago didn't quite help and I had to spend alot. All I do now is concentrate on life. But its been challenging and you can't talk about it much cos nobody wants to listen to you. I wish i knew someone who is struggling with this also in real life.at least they would listen to me cos they would understand. But life goes on anyway smile
