My right ear is thumping on and off...sounds like thunder or heavy drums.
Can't sleep,cant concentrate and I'm getting on everyone's nerves.
The doctor at the hospital emergency said I got trapped fluid behind the drum. The next day it went to town with drumming.....i want to end my life,I can't take it anymore!

Ok, keep your hair on. Stuffy isn't usually a word used for blocked or very clogged ears. One gets a stuffy nose, not normally a stuffy ear. I understand that this condition is causing you a great deal of concern and anxiety, however, as I've already said, unless you can get to a specialist (you've said you can't) what else can any one else offer as advise. My right ear is pretty blocked today, but when I pinch nostrils together, it does pop open, then closes again. You haven't mentioned on this forum what you are trying yourself. Have you put a towel over your head and breathed in hot water (needs to be done for at least half an hour) it's like boiling a kettle of water and trying to un-stick an envelope, it takes times and same with our tubes. I think you are in the US. We can buy Olbas Oil in the UK which when breath in from a tissues, that helps to unblock too. Try not to lose the plot Tasha and we're all here to try and help one another. But if you are unable to pay to see a doctor, there is little else that can be suggested.

Hello Tasha, not too sure that you'll want my reply as you were a little upset with me the other day about me asking whether the stuffiness was your nose or ears. If you read many comments on this Forum people are also talking about blocked or runny noses (suffering from Rhinitis) So I wasn't wrong in asking you. When we're all on here to try and help each other, we don't expected to be replied to in a nasty manor. However, blocked ears cause all sort of symptoms and suffering slight dizziness is one of them. You do not list the things you'd tried to alleviate some of your problems. I know having blocked ears makes us all feel anxious, miserable and sometimes bad tempered. It's just such a pity you can't afford specialist treatment.
I hope today is finding you feeling better.

Don't worry my love as I know how irritable it makes me feel too. Not sure the Benadryl will help with the motion feeling. You may well have Menieres disease (I think I've spelt that wrong) but you'll know what I mean. Put it into Google and check out symptoms. Not sure, but that can be caused by a virus that attacks the ears. I knew someone that became so dizzy from it she actually fell over. The ears are complicated structures. I really wish you had the money to see a doctor and get some proper help. There really isn't anything else I can suggest. Do you feel dizzy when you lie down ?

You've no friends Tasha? that's so sad. How's your mum with you. did you ever show her what people are saying on this Forum how awful ETD is ? If ever you want to talk, I'll listen and I'm on f/b too if you'd like to keep it private. I think you said you live in Dallas, well I'm in England, so can't pop round, however, I'm a good listening.
Kind regards
Anne

Hi Tasha, I do hope the thumping sound isn't due to stress from the blocked ear. I sometimes hear a thumping sound too and thinks it's pressure and the nerve in the ear....who bloody knows with this condition. It's so hard to explain how we all feel with this problem. If you think your blood pressure is high, you should be on medication, you don't want to have a stroke to add to your worries. How old are you Tasha ?

Hi Tasha, well my ETD started when I was 34 and by the age of 47 I contracted Bacterial Meningitis, caused by it. Such a horrible ordeal and I can't believe to this day I'm still suffering from it. However, the stronger Flixonase Nasules are certainly helping. I do wish you could afford to see someone.

So what happens to people with no health insurance ? surely you're not just left to get on with it. What if people have a car accident and have no insurance, are they left to die ? Outrageous if that's the case. I'm so glad over here in England we have the NHS. some people moan about it, but I have nothing but praise for it. I have an excellent ENT consultant and my husband who suffers Type 1 Diabetes is thoroughly looked after, everything is free, which includes prescriptions and surgery. No good telling you all this, as it's not helping you, when you can't afford to pay for Health insurance. I take it you have a job, I thought some firms subsidise employees ins. If I could afford it, I'd send you the money, myself. Problem is it would cost hundred of dollars.
I've ask you this before, but you haven't let me know, what self help you are using.
(1) hot water steam inhalations, for at least 20 minutes
(2) try to pop them
(3) buy a cheap bottle of Menthol and breath that in on a tissue. I buy Olbas Oil and I used to post it out to my sister in the States to help with her sinus issues.
So sorry I can't be of much help Ashley and I do feel for you.

I sat with my head covered with my hot humidifier.Popping didn't do anything but made it worse .Vicks inhalers here cost around $8.00.If you don't have health insurance where I live they can't do much for you and paying out of pocket is killing me.Specialty ents you need a referral to see them. But the doctor I went to at a small clinic.....they jack the price up and I can't go back to the clinic anymore. All the clinic's in Dallas are expensive that I called around to and the free clinics are zip code only, which I'm not in.There are alot of poor and homeless people here and they can't get doctors either. So you cant get much help unless you're rich I guess
