Irritating , annoying comments about chronic pain .

Don’t you hate it when the able-bodied try to encourage you with cliches that no longer apply to chronic pain patients?

The one that irritates me most is, “If you can dream it, you can do it!”. or, "the power of positive thinking" ... Here's one of my favorites

just keep moving and be "Mindful" of your tolerances.

It makes me want to reply, “Really? I’m dreaming that you would feel my pain”.rolleyes

What at are some of the irritating response you receive from those who do not suffer from chronic pain? And what do you tell them?

Hiya Hope and everyone....no turkeys in Bali...too hot for them. Lots of chickens tho'. Speaking of dogs...my real favourite in my Rottweiler..named Rhani...and I have three Chipoms. Got Rhani for protection...house got broken into twice..masked man standing over  my bed.....wow scary stuff...So now we have a guard dog...She is amazing. All sorts of noises in the night last night....no sleep again.

Huge storm with thunder and lightning, big rain all night..and so hot. Maybe the lizard on my roof. Anyone know how to roast a monitor lizard lol cry We will get turkey in Australia...counting down now...3 weeks to go...cool

I'll send you a great recipe for roasting lizzard wrapped in banana leaves.

In Florida there are lizards, geckos, all kinds of critters. Nothing like that. I bet you have huge bugs too. In Hawaii the centipedes are a foot long.

Good deal you have a Rotti. They are loyal to their owner and no one will get past them. Great guard dog! They had a beautiful one on the National Dog show.

Wow having break in is a strange feeling frightening and you feel violated. Had a break in, in the past 3 times. I moved. I hope that's the last time that ever has to happen in your life. EVER !

Three weeks and and we know how fast that goes you'll be there in summer time in Australia. Start packing?

      Stay cool!

      Hope xxxxx biggrin

Oh WOW Hope...no thanks. The locals here do that too....but this one is about 2.5 meters long...how to catch it. I asked one of the staff and he said they could catch it with my fishing rod....No way...I'd rather leave the lizard on my roof. It's my fault he is there anyway coz I used to leave the left over dog food for him...so now he thinks this is a hotel....rolleyes Re the break ins...phew that was so bad..I felt like I'd been raped...as you say violated. They won't get in again....Rhani dog...would kill I know it. As you say Rotti's are so loyal. She has killed two snakes here in my garden already...but that's scary too...she could get bitten.  No-one messes with a Rotti.....Luv u G

Too many critters to deal with in Bali. Thani will keep you safe very loyal breed. And not snakes too! cry He's a good guard dog. I hope you feel safe now!

I have a hot wire fence around the property to keep the horses in and the deer ,skunks, racoons and elk out. They love to snack on all the delicacies in my garden especially the roses. I have used the vacuum bag and scattered the dog fur collected in the bag and scatter around and the critters smell the fur and keeps them away they smell predators.

My cat is more of a guard dog than the indoor dogs are . Even the dogs are afraid of Mr Manx. He is huge and keeps mice, and moles away. He leaves all his little catches mostly mice in a row across the front of the garage doors. Like he's saying I'm doing mu job! Where's my treats?

Well who wudda thought monitors eat dog food! He is a big one and mabe get a live trap set it with food and call critter collector.we did that with scads of feral cats that pick on mine. Took them in especially females for spayed and neutering.

So so what's ya got in your garden?

Hi Hope...well when I lived on the farm in Australia...we would get feral pigs coming in....so we also put an electric fence around the property and then ( as advised) peed around the perimiter...that works. There are no critter collectors here in rural Bali...They'd laugh at me if I asked. Geez, I wish I had your cat....he is what we need here...Next door the people are a bit rough and they throw out their rubbish everywhere...so it attracts rats...which attract the big monitors ( Arlu)...I've given them rat poison and advised them about the rubbish but they don't listen. My cat is lazy...but she does sometimes bring us her catch and puts it on my daughters bed...yuk. The dog food I'm talking about is...chicken necks for Rhani the Rotti...she sometimes leaves a bit of skin etc..in her bowl...so the Monitors come in for that....gotta remember to ask someone to collect it at night...We grow lots of fruit and veg in the garden...but the critters only eat the mangoes and papaya....they don't like beans and spinach or tomatoes....most are carnivores. I'm used to the snakes and only kill them if they come inside the house..our biggest problem are Cobras....so many of them. But I've mostly lived in the "bush"  so I don't worry too much about snakes...they kill rats...so they've gotta be good for something. OK gotta try to get lunch for the hungry crowd...catcha later...Hugs..G

Alrighty sounds like your an expert from all that experience.

I worry a out the rats they carry all kinds of diseases that's to bad neighbors are so careless and reckless, all you can do is what you have been doing to protect yourself and property. Call the terminator what's that actors name. "Arnold Schwarzenegger. " LOL

It sounds like you have more than your share of critters from A-Z.

your making me hungry gotta go get. Snack it 7:58 pm her on the west coast

      In the Us.

      Hope xxxxxx

in Chicago a rat crawled up the sewer line into the commode...it was decades before I could get up and go at night...No bugs, no critters....bear, big horn sheep, mule deer, elk, raccoons, porcupine, deer, buffalo

Ahh Gloria will give you a rain check for another time.

The nodgules on your fingers-what does the doc say they are. If you have RA that is part of the disease and bone spurs form . I drop things can'tt hold onto them.

Have you tried a biologic drug that take the IL-13 or IL-23 pathway. They are a immonosuppressant drug that helps slow down the progression of this disease RA.

Or in my case I have nodgules IN Palm area, hard when palpating on the finger cords pulling the fingers shut to the palm. I take DEMARDs FOR THE PAIN AND HELPS SLOW DOWN the PROGRESSION of this disease as well as needling, Xiaflex helped open up my fingers & another big help ultra sound refered by my PT. ultra sound help the pain and keeps the nodgules from getting larger. I like to use a hand spa with lavender scented hot wax to melt away the pain, very relaxing.

I am am sorry to hear your not feeling well today. With this condition when don't we hurt? I can hardly walk today but took a day off the regular pushing myself and read a great book took my mind off al the junk that can hold me down. Really helps.

Sending lots of {{{gentle hugs}}}to cheer you up! 🐉🐴💄👼🏼🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Hiya...one of my biggest problems is that the Doctor..a neurologist, doesn't really know and we don't have a Rheumatologist anywhere near here...maybe a four hour drive away. Oh dear, I shouldn't grumble about it...but it's new to me...and I don't want it. Thanks for cheering me up...xxx G

I'm sorry Gloria that there is not a rhumy in your area. A 4 hour dive is something you may consider. Just to help with treatment. They are specialists and can help you a great deal. Then you can have phone conversations . Here the lab take blood samples in different special vials that require different protocols sent off to lab anyway. If your nuero can take your blood sample send off to lab to identify the markers for different types of arthritis. Then perhaps treatment .

You go right ahead and grumble all you want that what we are here for. We all hurt and totally get the pain. I know I am hobbling along and will need a wheelchair in a few years.

      Sending more CHEER YOUR WAY!

After 54 years of this, I know the drill, I just can't sign the script...sent you a list of blood tests a rheumy would order...left out fancy tests that are not available where you live.

I am truly worried about you!

      big hugs

ps where is Indi???? Did we scare him off?

Hi Hope...the 4 hour drive is through the mountain range which separates the north from the south of Bali...It winds and twists for about 2 hours...then it's not too bad...a fairly straight road...it's the twisty bits that get me...don't like it...nor does my sore body. Not really looking forward to going to the Airport...but have booked a hotel close to it so I can wind down as it were. Then off on an almost red eye flight...have to get to the airport by 5 a.m. Maybe on the way back I can get to see a Rhumy at the big International Hospital in Denpasar.  Probably will need my bank manager with me....

Yikes sounds like a trip down the Yellowstone canyon usually done by donkey.

seriously I don't blame you I wouldn't like that trip sounds similiar to the mountains in Colorado. Ask Jude about the old dirt roads thru the passes in the Continental Divide over a mile high in Colorado.

Whatever you chose to do it's only what you capable of doing. traveling is tough.

Hope pe your feeling better today lots of sunshine and good vibes sent your way!
