Guys, I really hope this works for you as it works for me, I had been suffering with the itchy mouth for years... Mine is an allergy - pretty sure hayfever, I take fexofenadine for my hayfever and for the itchy mouth? Beconaise nasal spray. Although it goes up your nose, all your tubes are linked and it really really eases up the itching. I would create suction in my mouth to try to help with the itching and if I used a toothbrush on it that seemed to aggravate it even more. Please try beconaise - it's available over the counter and i hope it helps some of you. It's really helped me.

I've had this symptom most of my life, I scratch the right side of my mouth in the back but it's not completely in the back. But I've been doing this for a long time, I am allergic to dust, pollen, and cats but I've lived with a cat for 12 years so I've adapted a little immunity. I sneeze at least 10 times a day. I am completely convinced it's my allergies and not a bacterial infection due to the extention of how long I've had this problem

Beginning to think Im the only one who had this, drives me nuts and gives me very broken sleep. Had it for years , have been to the hospital for various blood tests, dentist, doctors no one had been able to really help. One nurse suggested it could be Oral allergy syndrome and to be fair some fruits set it off so I avoid those Haven't been able to pinpoint what other foods cause this ??
One doctor said it was the nerve endings in my mouth reacting to each other when for example my tongue touches the roof of my mouth. Was on amitriptolin for years and although it helped a bit it it never stopped completely.
The only thing that gives me some relief for a little while are Victory V mouth lozengers but they're not good as full of sugar apparently.
I take antihistamines everyday, doesn't really help.

Has anyone found a solution to this yet?? I have EXACTLY the same thing. It's keeping me up at night. I sneeze every time I eat raw onion, so I am trying to cut onions, leeks and such out, although it's breaking my heart cause they're my favorite. But it's early days in my 'research'...not sure it'll make a difference.

I have been having the same issue here as well. I'm 18 and ever since I was a child I've been having itchy roof inside my mouth. I have allergies but I have also been allergic to peanut butter. When I was younger it was actually a lot worse. The roof of my mouth would get itchy so bad that everyday and night I would scratch it with my own mouth making almost like a loud vacuum noise. It would just get irritated even more making it uncomfortable and was even embarrassing especially with family relatives and friends. Since then however it has been decreasing. It now only happens probably once or twice a month when it used to be every other day. What has changed since I was a child was that I stopped drinking milk. Yes, milk. I have realized that dairy is a HUGE root to the problem. Especially dairy milk that you get from regular produce stores such as Vons, Ralphs, Albertsons, Food-4-less etc. Reason being is because those milks can contain, antibiotics residue, and other things we're not sure of. I would even suggest avoiding raw milk as well. If you want to really really decrease the amount of itchiness than I assure you that if you get rid of dairy in your diets than you will notice a result. Substitutes can consist of Rice milk (HIGHLY recommend), Soy milk (May work for some, didn't work for me as I produced mucus with it), vegan cheese, and coconut ice cream (no milk). Other ways my itchiness can be caused is by not drinking enough water. I have a bad habit of not hydrating myself properly sometimes. I notice that when my mouth gets too dry it ends up being too late to prevent the itchiness. For a solution to that I downloaded an app called Hydro coach which is available in IOS and Android operating systems (for phones). Essentially it sets a goal and reminds me to drink throughout the day. Another cause is allergies or being specific, it's called Oral Allergy syndrome. I'm sure most of everyone has that. For me, typically what effects me is cherries, apples, avocados, and watermelons. They create a tingling sensation in my mouth and it eventually starts to itch. Make sure to find what fruits or nuts affect you to not eat them for next time. For me, dust is another huge cause for my itchiness. Typically your shelves, under your bed, your fans and others will collect more dust than you think. Make sure to Vacuum regularly, get like a swifter to clean shelves, make sure you let windows open for air circulation because it can get stuffy and potentially ignite itchiness I would even go as far as to get a humidifier to prevent dryness and dust circulation in the air. I know this one is obvious but make sure your hygiene is top notch. Wash your body, brush your teeth, use mouth wash to clean out germs, clean your rugs, your sheets, and pillow cases. Exercising and meditating also helps calm my breathing and lungs. Try to develop a cleaner diet as well, no dairy, less meat, more vegetables, fruits and healthy meals. This isn't a holy grail but I 100% guarantee that you will see results. Itchiness on the top of our mouths irritate the hell out of all of us so you really really need to be dedicated to making the right decisions so that your mouth and YOU can suffer less. Now for the picture. This happened to me today due to mainly dust, and seasonal oral allergies. There is no cure for these things but YOU CAN limit the amount of times it happens to you. The top of my mouth gets really dry so that most likely inflamed the itchiness (top middle arrow). Perhaps it was also due to me not hydrating enough today although I was doing well throughout the week. If you look at the far back corners you can actually see a couple of bumps mostly on (my) left side. You can also see one on my right side as well. I also think this can happen due to the mouth collecting more saliva than needed and the mouth getting a little more warmer than usual. Well I hope you read everything and enjoyed what I had to share. Hopefully you can use some advice and tips I have. Thank you for reading and good luck. And please feel free to share me tips as well I would gladly appreciate it. Peace.

I completely agree with your reasoning -> "Other ways my itchiness can be caused is by not drinking enough water. I notice that when my mouth gets too dry it ends up being too late to prevent the itchiness."

I've found the only thing that helps, aside from taking too many antihistamines, is eyedrops. They moisten the back of the throat as the go through the tubes from your eyes. Seems to ease it or even stop the itching on occasion 😃

1) bacterial or fungal infections - it is indicated by signs such as a dirty white coating, redness, a large number of ulcers, pain and a burning sensation. Symptoms often interfere with even eating. The child is most often the cause of stomatitis;
2) angina (angina, tonsillitis, quinsy, sore throat) - its obvious signs: more tonsils become, there is an ache in the body, sore throat;
3) lack of hygiene and injury during chewing - these reasons are usually interrelated, because pathological microorganisms with proper hygiene will not lead to inflammation of small wounds. As a result of infection, not only ulcers but also blisters are formed;
4) dental problems and diseases - most often causes similar symptoms of pulpitis and caries;
5) leukoplakia - develops with chronic trauma of mucous food cold, hard or hot;
6) removal of the nerve, when the temporomandibular composition was affected, which was the beginning of inflammation;
7) Use of artificial limbs in cases when there are no outgrowths of muscle formation in the sky. The longer the period of wearing, the more likely the occurrence of inflammation;
8) galvanic currents when installing braces or crowns with metals;
9) inflammatory process of the salivary glands - this often results in the development of the tumor;
10) a change in the state of the environment in the oral cavity;
11) malignant tumor.

Hi all,
This is my first time posting - but I really wanted to say how relieved I am to find this thread! I have done the 'weird throat noise thing' on and off all my life (I'm now 37) and the only doctor I ever saw about it - as a kid - didn't have a clue what it was and essentially told my dad it must be behavioural.
But it's not - it's difficult to explain *just how itchy* it is! I would describe what I do as creating a sort of semi-vacuum right at the back of my throat, and then forcing air out hard in a way that seems to vibrate my ear/nose/throat passages and temporarily 'scratch' the itch. In my case, it's like the itch is right in the middle of my head, and I can't get at it any other way. It honestly drives you crazy.
Obviously I'd like to be able to stop making the noise, as it does sound loud and weird. I almost never do it in public, but even if I lock myself in the bathroom to do it in the night, my poor partner can hear it.
I do have oral allergy syndrome (various nuts, pear skin, apricots, cherries etc trigger it) so I avoid all those but it's not usually related to that. I take antihistamines, but the thing I found that works best (albeit not perfectly) is a sinus rinse - you literally shoot it up your nose and it comes out of your mouth!
The one I bought is by NeilMed - as I say it doesn't always work but can provide some relief. Obviously not very practical if you're out/on the underground! But handy to have in your bathroom cabinet.
I will also try the nasal spray that's been suggested - thanks all. Genuinely very relieved to find I'm not on my own with this!

I've had this ALL MY LIFE. It's very annoying. I have one tip that works for me. Original Listerine. When it's at its worse hold this stuff in your mouth till you feel the burn then spit it out. Makes it go enough to go back to sleep. Try it.
