Its finally going! - signs of healing

I'm so relieved - I can happily say that my PR is finally clearing up. I've had it for about 8 weeks now. About a week before it started to fade I think it 'peaked' it was intensely itchy and very dry and flaky. A week later the itch had all but gone (except when after a shower) The patches enlarged and flattened and started to fade from the inside of the patch outwards. During this time my skin was very flaky. Within a week the rash had faded down to a tan colour and once the flaking had gone the tan patches were dry looking but flat. The early patches and herald patch have almost completely faded and the patches I got later on are still there but beginning to go.

Its been a horrid 8 weeks but I'm glad that it seems to be going - I'm just praying that its gone for good and will stay away for my wedding next year.

For those of you in the middle of it and feeling miserable - IT WILL GO AWAY! I really felt that i would have it forever but I'm almost normal again now and I'm so relieved! There is hope - hang in there eveyone!

Hi all. I read through this entire thread and it's so helpful. I'm in week 4 or 5, and I'm finally seeing signs of a down turn. The spots are fading in color and flattening. They were very itchy, but now only a few patches of them are. What I did:

    1) tried to wear loose, comfortable clothing

    2) sunbathed (I felt like a swamp monster at the pool)

    3) I used head and shoulders as body wash

    4) I used a little zinc oxide and a little jergen's ultra healing lotion

Give it time and try to do things that destress you. It's so hard to feel this out of control. It is harder on me because I have medical anxiety. If I can get through this, anyone can! Wishing you wellness, anyone who is reading smile

I’m on day 16.  I’m hoping this isn’t the peak. The only part of me not covered is my hands, feet, neck and face!  Although o have rosacea there and intense itching around the ears.

It’s become a mental battle as my wife read about the Herpes connections and of course knowing nothing assumed I had contracted some sexual disease.!  The whole house is being disenfecected and I’m sleeping in the basement!  It looks worse than ever on my pasty white skin I could die.  I’m healthy and eat well why me?

I’m going to try sun bed if only to reduce the contrast of the red on white skin.  I’m not sure how I could live with this song long term.  Thankfully my doctor diagnosed it right from day 1.

I’m very concerned! about a month ago I noticed a red patch on my left boob close to where my cleavage starts.. there’s no itching, irritation, soreness, or anything. I think it may be slightly raised, if I were to close my eyes I could follow it around. The border part of it is red, and inside of it is (I think) skin like coloured almost reminds me of a scar. Redness sometimes goes away, but other days it’s more red than normally. I’ve done nothing but continuously worry and look at it, which is causing me great stress and anxiety. I’ve been doing some reading online, searching pictures and PR is what look more similar to what I have on my boob! Other than ringworm. Someone please reply to me! As I am freaking out. Hell im even scared to go to the doctor!

Had to make a new account because I forgot my password. But I noticed bumps appearing, they are reddish. There’s maybe four of them. Again, they’re red & slightly raised, and I see it almost looking as a scar but not? I’m soo bad at explaining. But I’m going to be going to the doctor today and will find out & keep you informed. I’m super scared, but I got this!

PR does not leave scars. It leaves skin discolorations that fade to skin color within a few weeks. Good luck! Hope it goes soon!

Im on week 4 after my initial heralds patch appeared. Week two little red spots appeared on my front and back. Week three unbearable itching and rash spreading to the tops of my arms and legs and becoming flat and blotchy. This week the rash on my chest and back is nearly faded and is now starting to heal on my arms and legs as well. I found a magically cure which I'm delighted to share... COCONUT OIL. I lather it on every night before bed and everyday when I wake up I can see a huge improvement. Not to mention there is no itching anymore. I hope this works for you too!

This is good to hear im just out of week 3 and the itching and flakiness have been unbearable. My patches are flattening and spreading out too now which makes it look worse but I’m losing the itch. So far I’m left with horrible pink discolouration on my breasts from the herald patch and first spread but I’ve read that this takes a while to fade. I bathed in porridge oats tonight and I’m using vit e oil but I’ll give coconut oil a go too .. Your post has helped me feel more positive as it seems there’s no end at the moment sad

Its a relief to know it will eventually go away. This is the worse thing that has ever happened to me. I already have anxiety and this has nearly sent me over the edge. Its horrible. I cried and stressed so much I think I actually made it worse. Its been about 9 weeks and seemed to be going away then I started seeing little bumbs again. Please someone tell me is this normal? I don't know how much more I can actually take. Its making me not even want to be alive really...

Mimi52, I am so sorry you are going through this! I had it for 14 months, and my husband stuck with me. I know how embarrassing it can be- people look at you as though you didn't take a bath in a month, or that they could possibly get it. It is depressing. It is horrible, itchy, maddening, nasty, but it will pass. You are stronger than this. You are more than just your skin.I promise you will never take your skin for granted again.

      Please keep us informed.,

Im experiencing the same guys and it's really annoying! sad(  I was diagnosed with PR and my dermatologist prescribed me  Celestamine( antihistamine drug) for a week and an anti-pruritic/inflammatory cream. My PR rashes were all over my chest, abdomen, back, arms, legs, and even on my SCALP AND FACE(which is rare for PR sufferers). IT WAS SOOOOO UGLY I SWEAR! I HATE IT!!! Fortunately after a week of taking Celestamine drug and putting that cream, the mother patch which was on my abdomen healed and its daughters. I was really glad that it healed!! I was relieved!! I could also say that going out in the morning( until 10AM only) and staying under the sun helped my rashes to heal quickly plus the NEEM LEAVES on my bath.  But only after a few days,  my PR came back!!!! My FACE and NECK are the worst but theyre starting dry now!!! Thank goodness. Im just continuing the cream and neem leaves in my bath. I tried oatmeal bath earlie and lets see if that helps.   By the way, I am in my 3rd week now.  Lets ALL BE POSITIVE! WE WILL BE HEALED !!

PS: my dermatologist forbid me to eat fish, seafood, eggs. Also some vegetables like cabbage, carrot, citrus fruits, mangoes, melon, butter, mint candies, etc. so try to avoid these foods. And take Vitamin C and Flaxseed in the morning. Thats all!

    H O P E and P R A Y smile

I am in the middle of laughing!!!! Your doctor forbade you to eat seafood, eggs and some fruits and veggies???????? Sounds like they have no clue. The antihistamine is for an allergic reaction- guess he thought it might be hives. He also gave you a steroid cream, right? That is what most of them do! I am sure the neem leaves feel nice. Please keep us informed. The nasty thing (one of them) about PR is that a patch can be clearing up, and suddenly it appears elsewhere on your body.

Poor baby!!!! Hope yours leaves soon.
