Its finally going! - signs of healing

I'm so relieved - I can happily say that my PR is finally clearing up. I've had it for about 8 weeks now. About a week before it started to fade I think it 'peaked' it was intensely itchy and very dry and flaky. A week later the itch had all but gone (except when after a shower) The patches enlarged and flattened and started to fade from the inside of the patch outwards. During this time my skin was very flaky. Within a week the rash had faded down to a tan colour and once the flaking had gone the tan patches were dry looking but flat. The early patches and herald patch have almost completely faded and the patches I got later on are still there but beginning to go.

Its been a horrid 8 weeks but I'm glad that it seems to be going - I'm just praying that its gone for good and will stay away for my wedding next year.

For those of you in the middle of it and feeling miserable - IT WILL GO AWAY! I really felt that i would have it forever but I'm almost normal again now and I'm so relieved! There is hope - hang in there eveyone!

Hi! I've just been diagnosed with PR today. Was suffering from an ugly and itchy rash all week, thinking it was some allergic reaction, but then it got soo bad so I went to see a doctor. Was prescribed some steroid cream, doctor told me to try avoid stress. Reading everyone's comments here made me feel a little better - that it will go away after a few months, and also a little worried since the peak of this disease is yet to come. Will update how it goes for me.

This is my 4th week with the rosea.... it has been a horrific depressing experience.. when I went to the doctor she told me I had a wicked case of it , than proceeded to hand me papers from google about the disease because she didn’t know what it was..

After days of research I found it that it is a virus that is kind of eats the pigmentation off the 1st layer of skin , causing it to be dry etc.. I than YouTubed a couple of cures and so far I found head and shoulders clinical anti-dandruff shampoo && lysine pills . The head and shoulders shampoo removes the first layer of your skin where most of this virus lives ..

The process is to apply the shampoo on your body leave it for 5 minutes and rinse it off

I have tried this and by the 2 night I got amazing results .. most of my blisters dried up and the itch has faded down ..

basically it is speeding up the process !!

For anyone struggling with Pityriasis Rosea.. all you require is

-Patience (You will need a lot of it)

    - Head & Shoulder is so unnecessary

    - TAN, TAN & TAN (Tan every other day, I did 10 mins , 12 mins and another 10 mins )

    - Moisturise with Aveeno Oatmeal shower& bath  oil(for shower) and Aveeno Oatmeal cream (its has no fragrance)

    - Try adding organic  coconut oil or shea butter to your daily routine as well..

Although I used Head and shoulder, it only made my skin super dry. I started results after TANNING(I used the standing sunbed ) ..dont over do it though.it left me with black spots but the itching is all gone .and I got rid of it in 3 weeks.

    Lets kill this Pityriasis...

I had recently broken out with PR, and I just wanted to know how do you know if it's been going away? I have been doing coconut oil treatments, along with Calamine lotion, and I have noticed that that the center of the spots have started flaking, but I keep getting new spots too. Is this a good sign? I want to get rid of them as soon as I can so any advice would be helpful.

Usually, PR lasts for 6 to 12 weeks. Yes, you should notice that the rings are drying and flaking on top, that means that particular affected area is clearing up. Unfortunately, it does not mean you are finished. PR seems to be inside of you moving around, like a virus. A new outbreak of rash can pop up anywhere on your body, not necessarily connected to the rash you have right now. You said yourself that you are getting new spots.

      I hope yours is short!!!

It’s been 6months.  All visible areas it’s long gone.....except here’s the ugly pet here folks.  I’m left with discolouring spots where I have a darker skin tone (arms, shoulders).  And where I didn’t have much of a tan (sides, inner thighs) I’m left with light coloured red spots under the skin.  No pain or itching just ugly spots.

So people still ask what I have -  even though it’s subtle.  6 months later!  I’m prpeared to live with this my whole life now.  Just saying you all should too.

Poor baby!!!! I had those skin discolorations too, and I am very tan- work outdoors painting houses in south Texas- my discolorations faded to skintone all over within about 3 weeks after the rash was gone. Did you have a biopsy done?

No.  Maybe I should.  Last time doctor said ‘oh you still have it’. I’m like still!  Anyway maybe since it’s been 6 months I should have it checked again.  No pain, itching or sling though.

Thank you for this. I 've had my PR since March 9th and its April 27th as of this post 😦 I feel what you described is happening to me right now. I am more flaky than EVER!My air mattress is covered in dead skin, which was never an issue until a couple days ago when i noticed my mattress felt really grainy(from dead skin). This started happening when i noticed some of the spots on my torso and hard to reach back area started to grey over and get more scaly. Which is new to me. In the beginning my skin was just really dry and showers made the spots look more inflamed and red. Now I've noticed one of the prominent spots about 1inch in width and 2 1/2 inch in length on my left should blade has has expanded in size but the color isn't as red anymore, and its getting more scaly. In fact all the spots are getting more scaly and dry now. I don't have major episodes of itching like I had two weeks ago but the itch is still there for sure. I do feel like it is peaking though. Everything you said happened to you before the it faded is happening to me right now. I even called in for work which I had no need to do until now. Just want to thank you for sharing your experience. I have hope I won't have this forever. I'm the most unlucky because although its rare, I have it on my face.....chin, a big spot between my left cheek and left ear which is doing the same thing as the spot I described on my left collar bone. Its less red, more grey scaly, and has expanded a little within the past week.

I think I'm in my 6th week of having it, and it has really helped to see other people's experiences with it. I feel like it seems highly possible that the stress of the pandemic either triggered this or hasn't helped anyway, and I'm too cautious to go to a doctor right now (live with older parents so don't want to risk covid). Trying not to stress too much about it but it's hard when I'm stuck inside all the time. Glad to hear about hopeful cases though.

Hi! so I've now had PR for around 8-9 weeks the itching stopped about 7 weeks. Since then my skin has flattened out and the redness has went away apart from my legs they still seem to be red and slightly itchy (although greatly improved) . I am now wondering if it's the same rash as the rest of my PR is away apart from some skin tone and flaky patches has anyone else experienced this ?
