I find that it is the loks you get and NO comment the worst and it being totally ignored. Or don't you think you will get better if you did nothing for a long time.

Well if I followed that advice I think I might do the unthinkable. Which I will not mention on this forum. I am not being angry with you but others who have no idea what it is like to suffer from the terrible illness.

So true no comments like dismissing us dismisses the issue. And it's very difficult for ourselves to accept chronic illness. U see it happen to someone else.. But not you.. We r healthy. rolleyes

Even over time if I experience one good day I think I feel so good today it's gone...lol Then I know I'm only in denial cuz it never lasts more than a few hours. But I'll take whatever I can get.cry

When UR friend asks how u r.... then they talk over u and spin UR illness as if it's just the flue bug like they got last year. redface

Someone once said to me " if I didn't work I'd have a tan like yours " I'd been laying in the garden all summer cos I couldn't do anything else !

      Lisa,

sometimes ya just want to shake someone ah takes stupid remaks about something they know nothing about.

Come to think of it how is UR  tan? I could sit out in the sunshine while soaking up some vitamine D and tip toe thru the tulips.. confused

Tans doing great thanks !!  The strange thing is,mthe man who made the comment is such a nice bloke, and would be horrified if he thought he'd upset me, but it does, it's thoughtless, not at all a joking matter. I would give anything to be able to go back to work, and don't enjoy just sitting around, whether it be in the garden or the house. But there you go

I bet u have a beautiful garden. I luv gardening. I manage. And my big collie has taken it upon herself to stand in front of me and dig her feet in so I can push on her back to get up. Otherwise it would take a crane to get me up.

My dogs r so entertaining to watch all different ages . They r so much company I forget the endless cracks people make about my health issues. I generally chalk it up to how fortunate they r to not know the pain. They r lucky and not weighed down with health issues yet. confused

Have a great day ! cheesygrin

And one happy face with sun glasses on to sit out in the sun with you. cool

I have to agree with the "You look/seem fine" comment as being one that is rather irrelevant!  I think friends say it to make you feel better about things, but I'm not sure all illnesses really provide you with a prequisite 'sick voice'  and scales to confirm how dreadful you feel!

    People say to me:

I usually reply back u should see me first thing in the morning,

that's a generic reply back ,cheesygrin

Over the years I have to say I think I've heard most of them. But I think my favourite has to be a conversation (rather short I have to say) between my Mum and Sister.

Mum: "I don't think you understand how tired I am at the end of the week..."

Sister: "Really? Try waking up like that, being trampled by several elephants, having your skin ripped off and needles jabbed into your eyes and then you have to start your day."

The look on my Mum's face was priceless. Rofl xx

I hate it when people ask me what I'm doing for the day and it's usually "not much just stuck in bed resting" and then they respond with "lucky, I wish I could stay in bed all day" *cue boiling blood!

Yeh, I agree.  Wish we didn't have to be stuck resting. I look at walkers and joggers with envy.  When I get well I'm definately going to enjoy walking again, even just a pop into a shop without having to get the scooter out. It's going to be blissexclaim

      Julie,

HOW bout this one." Why is she parked in the disability space she looks fine to me"! cry

I think of it this way. I drive my scooter in the store like I'm on a mission I can walk let alone run. If someone wants my purse in the parking lot I'll gladly give it. I have learned to carry important papers cats on my person well co sealed. Jenerally in my back brace. When I'm driven the scooter I guess I look pretty scary cuz everyone gets out of my way . There probably thinking does this woman know how to drive that thing. I have so much help teaching me to drive, people r so friendly get things I can reach and will even walk several isles away to get something for me. There r really thoughtful people in this world and I am lucky to find them.

I have my handicap parking permit so I can just pop in a scooter and off I go... My promise to you is that soon we will both be walking again soon swinging our hips like we could before. Thats is a powerful transformation just being able to do such a simple thing ....swing those hips! lol

Thru PT  I'm getting stronger every day. Still can't put all my weight on one leg 2/12 yrs later still struggling a lot. But I look at it this way everything good in life it takes work, effort and struggles. I want to walk normal without a cane & no scooter. Who knows some day I may not need the scooter.I'll take a cane over a scooter any day.  But for now I'm using every muscle I can to get past this get strong and ride in my riding group on my Tenn walker in next years parade!cheesygrin

Yes! Everytime I go past my old gym I feel sad. I can hear the gym classes going on and I wish I could be in there! I can't even imagine feeling how amazing and fit I did back then!

      Chonny...

hi you sound very active . And I can identify with how difficult it must be to miss out on going to the gym. u can still go to the gym and spin slower it's the best exercise for us who tire easily. It's like what my PT told me just start out slow nothing streanous. Go with a friend that understands UR CFS. Ask a trainer at the gym what he suggests u do with UR limitations. Gyms are not just for the fir and healthy it's for everyone even if u can only do a few things it a step to building endurance.

i garden with a club and I can't do nearly as much but is good to get out and doing something I used to enjoy before CFS.I have lowered my expectations it's not easy but for me it is great being out with my garden buddies. We work on community projects for years and the state garden.

Even if I just sit there and water in my folding chair it's still being out with nature learning new ideas and new plants.

I still manage to do some at home again I must realize I have a lot of nervous energy but need to slow my pace down ... Maybe it takes me 3 days to do what I used to do in a few hours. There's not much I can change about it so I'm not gonna give up. Very stubborn.and determined..no pitty party any more it's a stage I went thru now I'm movin on.

i hope i have have encouraged u just little bit, that we can do things just differently than before. Some day I just can't do a thing. But I just can't sit i get to stiff and if I do something I get stiff too! So ....I put my old self behind me and found the new pokey me! biggrin
