Litchen Schleroses

Hi, I was diagnosed with LS last year after suffering since I was a child. I was under a gynacologist who did a biopsy and first of all told me i didnt have LS but was later put under a Dermatologist who confirmed I do have LS with partial fusion.

I use the clob every 2 weeks or so and various moisturisers /washes daily.

Does anyone else suffer with bad cystitus symptoms/uti's because of the LS?

I would like to know as I do but my dermatologist says shes never heard of it causing cystitus problems? I end up taking courses of antibiotics which gives me severe thrush and flares me badly.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what is best to use to cope with thrush aswell during a flare up? I have used Cannestan pessesary and cream but its simply not doing a thing? Tonight i have put the clob on as im at my wits end knowing how to take the pain and itching away and big red/white sore patches?

Thankyou x

HI Vicki - I'm really glad you found us. We've all been helping each other which makes it better often than what our docs know.  I'm so sorry it took so long for you to get a proper diagnosis. HOw old are you now, Vicki? I"m 72 in the U.S. and only got diagnosed about 9 months ago but probably had it for some years before.

Have you discovered yet that LS is an autoimmune disorder? That is what really helped me to charge ahead with finding out how to aid my internal imbalance, if you will, to ameliorate it. I'm one of quite a few of us here who have never taken the steroids route. I had found a comment from a woman 4 years ago who had gone to a Naturopath who told her to take high dose Vitamin D3 and that really helped me then I developed a list of supplements that aid each other and have been found to help in many autoimmune diseases.  I'll post the 2 articles below for you to read.

I can'ta speak to the cystitus, and I don't rmember anyone mentioning that in conjunction with LS - but sevearl women have mentioned UTI's and we've foudn that it TOO is affected by vitain D3 deficiency! so hopefully that will really help you too.

Ah, well if you haven't had anyone to talk with in the past about this, have you discovered yet that you really have to go off of sugar in all it's forms esp when the LS is flaring?  we've been told that thrush (you are talking about vaginal discharge right? - it's is an overgrowth of Candida.

here are the two articles to get you going on really getting a handle on this:

Hi Vicki, I do believe there is a connection between UTIs and LS.  After four UTIs in a year, followed by antibiotics each time the doctor recommended cranberry capsules taken every day.  I can joyfully say that it WORKS, I have not had a UTI since taking them.  The problem with antibiotics is that they can give you thrush, and then the problem with thrush is that it nearly always triggers a LS flare up, I do believe these go hand in hand. So, you need to stop the UTIs which is the root of your problem.

Look at Milk Kefir and Water Kefir online and start to make this at home as it will give you a lot of important probiotics which far exceeds the probiotics that you buy in a bottle.  This will be great for your gut which has taken a battering and will help you with thrush symptoms.  Sometimes if left untreated thrush (candida) can become systemic (which I've had) and you need to take things into your own hands.  I used oral Diflucan, every three days with a total of three capsules being taken.  This knocked it on the head.

If you are experiencing sore red areas dont put the steroid cream on those areas as it will make it worse.  Instead, bathe, and try to avoid putting anything on it if possible for a day, then try using a tiny tiny bit of baby cream, like Desitin or a tiny bit of vaseline, hardly any.  The steroid cream is too strong for open sores/ulcers,cuts  etc.
