Livial I love you!

:D I have been taking Livial for 4 months now and it has really changed my life. At 52, and not having had a period for 18 months, I was suffering terribly with night sweats which woke me on the hour, I was totally sleep deprived and unable to function at work. I was also depressed and had absolutely no interest in sex. I can honestly say that I have not had one hot flush either during the day or night since taking it, my mood is balanced and I can't get enough sex! My weight has stayed exactly the same and my only compaint is that it is a bit expensive. I will certainly keep taking it for as long as I am able, I have done my research extensively and have found no reason to stop.

Hi Tia - yes I also claim Livial (Tiberlone) from my health fund.

Great video on 'Australian Menopause Society' website - Is HRT safe - male doctor makes mention of Tiberlone being totally safe.

Hi Joelma - give it some time - hot flushes, night sweats went first, libido returned (well) and probably a few weeks after - my energetic, happy disposition returned. I did bleed very heavily (twice) and awaiting to see Gyno to get it sorted. I fear I can not return to Tiberlone as I seem to be one of the minority that is makes bleed sad

So gutted - but will wait and see?

Stay busy (mind wise) and small steps to better your health and fitness - it will all help with the big picture.

I have no idea why Tiberlone (livial, xyvion) is not available in USA - it is a godsend?

Hi Iam 56 and recently had to have a BSO after a large cyst was found. I am 3 weeks post op and had to increase my oestrogen immediately because my sweats returned but having NO libido and my hair now falling out my GP suggested Tibolone. I have had a full hormone profile blood test done and am waiting for the results from my histology but am hoping the Tibolone will help me with the sweats, mood and libido smile

I am 53, started the rollercoaster perimenopause in my late 30s.  I am now 2yrs into menopause with no periods, hot flushes, vaginal dryness and soreness, brain fog and emotional sensitivity and the oh so sad no sex drive whatsoever! Despite all that, I am physically fit, strong, healthy and happily married for 30 years. Desperate for hormonal balance I began researching anything I could find and tried numerous natural medications and remedies over the last 10 years.

Fast forward to last year 2015 where my passion for natural plant based solutions drew me to bio-identical hormones.  The back and forth trips between pathology blood testing and expensive posh doctor, for expensive prescription DHEA creams which are only made in out of the way compounding chemists and then recently sublingual troches from a nationally well-known 'expensive' menopause clinic. There was to be no synthetic pregnant horse hormones for me!  Bio-identicals made in a lab from Mexican Yam - the answer to my prayers, I thought. Apparently the chemical molecular structure of Yam is similar or same as our female hormones. However, after a year on estrogen and progesterone bio-identicals I developed more bloating and fluid retention.  I was told I was estrogen dominant, so estrogen was removed and I remained on progesterone alone. Meanwhile still no libido and still worsening hot flushes! Enough with the "change this, change that, more this, less that..."  No more I said!  Done.

Extremely disappointed with the hype of bio-identicals I have this week sought mainstream medical intervention and requested to be put on Livial - having heard 'wonderful' things from a friend who has been on it for 5 years.  Funnily, I note Livial is also made from Wild Yam and made in a lab.  Furthermore, it is not nearly as expensive as the much hyped bio-identicals.

I recently read an article about the potential effects of progesterone on the body eg. it "downregulates estrogen, but also slows digestive processes, promotes appetite and fat storage, may raise insulin levels, decrease insulin sensitivity, reduce libido and cause depressed mood."   Interesting.

After unforunately reading 'numerous' negative reviews on Livial, as well as thankfully numerous postives, I am going to put my big girl pants on and continue to give Livial a fair trial.  If it does more harm than good (like the bio-identicals) it will be stopped, sooner rather than later.   One size does not fit all.  Here goes!

      Hi Olivia

Well done you for doing all the research and the trials - I too did all this and used the bio-identically for two years together with the natural creams etc.. Only to be literally hundreds, if not thousands and f pounds worse off and, more to the point feeling dreadful!

I have been on Livial now for three years and can honestly say I am more alert than I have been for probably 15 years at least (I am 52 and my periods stopped when I was 39).

Livial for me is a journey, the first thing to improve was the hot flushes, probably by the end of the first 2 weeks they had all but gone. The dryness and the libido probably took about 6 months or even a little longer but they started to improve almost straight away. My doctor told me that libido, and therefore the dryness, are just as much connected to my stress levels as my hormones, so almost everything else I.e the hot flushes, not sleeping, emotional roller coaster etc. had to improve dramatically before the libido and dryness would which when someone actually says it like that makes real sense.. And that's exactly how it happened for me.

So good luck to you, I hope you have the good result with Livial that I have.

Hi Honeybunches (cute name!).......thanks for that reassurance.  I feel your pain re the cost of bio-identical hormones!  Some people are getting rich and it's not hormonally imbalanced women!  If there's one thing I've learned during my research is that menopause is a million, if not billion, dollar business with women being the frustrated guinea-pigs, pharmaceutical companies the prosperous puppetiers of nervous doctor puppets heavily reliant on pharmaceutical alliances and fearful of malpractice law suits should they cut those chords!  In this day and age, like many modern day 'illnesses' surely the balancing of estrogen v. progesterone etc should not be rocket science for these socalled professionals?  I hate being a pawn in this triangle game.  Again, women being manipulated and humoured.  Will it never end?

Glad to hear your symptoms eventually improved on Livial. I hope also to experience those benefits.   The common thread of the numerous negative reviews has been achey bones, joints and especially hips! Could the osteoporosis prevention component in Livial be causing this? i'm also extremely very nervous about the weight gain reviews but as someone who exercises regularly and is nutritionally minded, I will be keeping a very close eye on that issue to say the least.  Why should we develop another issue while trying to solve existing hormonal issues?   It all intrigues me, but not completely deters me - yet.

Thanks again Honeybunches for reassuring and soothing my initial fears that I'd perhaps made a most terrible decision 'again' with my choice of hormonal remedy.  Best wishes to you with your continued use of Livial.

      Hi Chris,

i recall having very itchy arms and torso for the first few weeks, maybe even a couple of months, along with the achey joints - but all that had gone within three to six months. One of the more positive things I noticed was the skin on my face "plumping up a bit", not getting fat, or moon faced which some people have mentioned, but the skin actually feeling more like it used to in my early thirties, just a bit less thin especially around my nose and mouth.

one of my friends takes collagen supplements and she says that since I started taking Livial the skin on my face looks much better than hers, so I can only assume that is something else that Livial takes care of - putting the collagen back where it has been lost.

try to focus on the gains of taking Livial, and you will notice the itches and aches disappear.

Hi Honeybunches, yes I wholeheartedly agree with you on trying to focus on the gains.  Perhaps the itching is due to youth enhancing benefits at work lol, or the achey bones the strengthening of them from the osteoporosis component present in Livial.  There is something to be said about no pain, no gain. i'm not demeaning the excrutiating pain some have mentioned, as there are side effects that reveal themselves differently to each person.  However, I can live with a little bit of itching and a few achey joints if it possibly means beneficial transformations are at play lol lol   Olivia x
