So my stool looks very close to this, but no blood, only half dark sometimes (maybe blood higher in the track?), also it looks more 'flakey' or shredded sometimes with these weird little red things that look like mini-bean sprouts.. I have had these same issues since I was about 26/27 as well! I'm 30 now and gone through a lot so far. I first found that I had a kidney disease (IgA) which is mild found from microscopic blood/protein in a routine UA - this caused hypertension and put me on bp meds. I had a lot of other auto-immune/inflammation issues that would occur seemingly randomly such as:

    • Episcleritis (one of my eyes will randomly get red and hurt to change focus too fast)
    • What may be gout in my knees/ankles

Also bloating in my left side (something my pcp kept insisting was musculo-skeletal for 3 years UGH)

Sooo I recently saw a naturopathic doctor (was skeptical, but) she ran a bunch of tests and showed me the results in detail as well as put me on a BUNCH of supplements. Before finding my results she advised a month of gluten/dairy-free alcohol/coffee-reduced diet and I had the most normal consistent stools! Turns out I am Lactose Intolerant as well as intolerant to the combination of sugar and fruit within 4 hours of each other. So Ive been avoiding it as much as possible.

I wish that were the end of it (otherwise I wouldn't have found this thread). A week or so ago I thought I was doing well enough to eat a bunch of candy/oreos and a few days after I had these flakey stools for a week now.. despite not eating any dairy.

    Here's what I'm guessing:

    • I am lactose intolerant and inflamed my gut for years causing more problems
    • She ran a "c4a level" test and my number was 10x the max normal range (~25,000) which she seemed to explain was an indicator of my body being on "high alert" most likely because of the years of dairy
    • Too much sugar can trigger my high alert body to start inflaming things like my kidneys, gut, joints, and eyes
    • I also had some vitamin deficiencies like B (thus the supplements)

So maybe for now I will jump back on the GF+DF diet and kick out sugar. If I get my solid stools back I will come back and let you know! Then it's a matter of finding a way to reduce the c4a level

Got a new PCP who listens. Did Celiac & stool tests for the first time and nothing showed up on them (uric acid was a little high). My stomach started hurting and was tender/sore for the first time last week and he had me get a CT scan that found mesenteric Panniculitis and terminal ilium was mildly thick with fat, mainly it seems most likely a inflammatory bowel disease of some kind. Endoscopy and colonoscopy scheduled for Wednesday to find out more..

Has anyone discovered the cause of this? I have the same problems as the photo and I am also 27 years old. This started two months ago.

was like that with loose stools a lot of abdominal pain on the right side and my doctor didn't know what to do anymore I took VARIOUS antibiotics But none of them resolved. So I took Metronidazole for 10 days 500mg * I had amebiasis * and amebiasis causes very loose stools and a lot of pain in the stomach and small intestine, and duodenum because I also had an endoscopy and was diagnosed with duodenitis and the main cause was the amoebae that were feeding inside my body so no Omeprazole solved my problem because the root of the problem was the amoebas that were stuck in my duodenum and small intestine hope to help someone who needs this tip good luck to everyone!I also did several stool tests but for you to find out if you have amebiasis, doctors sometimes have to ask you more than five times to poop and deliver the samples fast because it is not every time that amebiasis cysts are released in the stool so it is very difficult to find amebiasis in the stool has to be a very specific and detailed test!!

Hi there. Saw your reply was pretty recent. im having the same or similar issue. ill have two types of consistency in one. For me, its a hard pebble, then a normal stool, then a looser fluffy soft one. I think it's IBS. I'm waiting for a colonoscopy to rule out issues like colitis but ill tell you my experience. I got the cdiff infection in August and everything was downhill from there. i was taking a probiotic but when i stopped i started having these inconsistent stools. I re-tested for cdiff and i was positive again. It really has to do with your microbiomes. i dont know if you are taking a probiotic, but if not you may want to look into it or ask your doctor about recommendations.

    hi everyone,

I'm 33 years old and have always suffered with a strange bowel ever since childhood. i can remember back when i was a young boy i would always have to strain to go to the toilet and was quite irregular from a young age.

during the past 4-5 years i developed a strange sensation (rarely a pain) in my lower left (as i look down) abdomen area. i went to the Dr's numerous times and they always had a feel around, did some blood tests which always came back clear, and sent me on my way.

around 2 years ago now (early 2019), during one of these visits, the Dr said I had Gilberts syndrome as my bilirubin levels were slightly elevated (around 45) but every other test including liver function was normal.

i didnt think much of this and it sort of put my mind to rest for a while, although health anxiety is never far away when it comes to me.

Late 2019 i developed a strange sensation under my armpits (mainly left). Around this time i also started getting the odd night sweat. I was under great deal of stress at the time with work. Again I went to the Dr's who checked my armpits and couldnt feel any enlarged lymph nodes or lumps. They completed another blood test which again came back normal. The sensation continued for a while but doesnt seem present lately.

In October 2020 I went to the Dr for the same reason (lower left abdominal discomfort, discomfort under armpit and a new symptom which was a slight discomfort in my upper abdominal area (central and slightly to the left under left rib cage). I started taking probiotics around this time and one of the side effects was bloating. This sensation seemed to go a few weeks after I stopped taking these.

Its now March 2021 and the past 3 weeks I've been suffering with upper abdominal discomfort. This seems to be in the upper central region slightly to the left as above. But I sometimes also feel to the right under the right rib cage. I've been feeling quite nauseas during this time and have had times where I havent felt like eating and other days where I'm eating normally. I also noticed a small amount of bright red blood on my stool twice in the past 3-4 weeks which seems to be if I pass a large stool.

I've had a private endoscopy and colonoscopy and the GE noticed I had mild bulbar duodenitis. I also have a CT scan booked in for tomorrow. The gastroent... wasnt concerned but could see how anxious I was so offered the tests as "a duty of care to put my mind at rest".

I've been examining my poo for months now and dont really have a regular pattern. I sometimes go every day and sometimes I might miss 2-3 days and have a large bowel movement on day 3. The texture seems to always be a harder more formed first part followed by a looser second part which is almost a mushy consistency. I've shown the GE photos of this and he didnt seem to be concerned, but looking closely at the second half that comes out it seems very mushy in texture.

I'm now 3-4 weeks in since the nausea and tummy discomfort started and I'm absolutely terrified its something serious. I wake up frequently in the morning really warm or sometimes sweat in the night. Ive been told previously that this is likely due to anxiety but I'm not sure. I've lost around 7lb in weight also, although the days I feel normal I start to see my weight rise again.

Has anyone had something similar? I've always been anxious about my health but the nausea and lack of appetite on some days has turned it up to another level. I cant concentrate on anything and my work is suffering and I'm putting strain on my partner by sharing these concerns. I've had 2 CA19 tests (Pancreas) (one Oct 2020 and another last week) and both have been normal. The only anomoly in my bloods in the slightly elevated (barely noticeable) high bilirubin which was 42 recently.

    Thank you for reading,

    Martin

I am having a same problem hard stool in starting and ends up with a loose mushy stool what i have experienced is that the cause of this problem can be a diet which is rich in sugar, food or fruits which are rich in sugar can cause this problem and also do not eat raw onions and also use very less amount of onion if you are using it in cooking your food as it is hard to digest and another cause of this problem is stress if you are stressed about something in life or overthinking about anything can also lead to this problem. So in my opinion its better to stop taking sugar rich foods and fruits for few weeks like 2 to 3 weeks, i believe it will work.

To anyone who reads this. I think you should have your thyroid function checked because thyroid disorders are often responsible food going through your digestive system to fast. I have this issue and my endocrinologist believes its directly linked. Its just 1 blood test you I have a hypothyroidism which they found by mistake when I was diagnosed with a rare condition called acromegaly. I'm on medication now and it helps. Before I was always constipated but now it is looser like this thread but I'm OK with not being constipated. Lol if your thyroid is over active you will have all of these symptoms. Hope all is OK.
