Losartin Potassium

Hi I would love to hear from any one who is on Losartin Potassium for High Blood Pressure. I am a very fit 56yr old who is working in a professional job that needs a clear head and plenty of energy. However after three years of constant anxiety I was diagnised as having high Blood Pressure following three weeks of serious nose bleeds, and was prescribed Amlodopine. This worked well on lowering my blood pressure but had such bad side effects that I finally persuaded my GP to stop them . I am now taking Losartin Potassium 25mg and where as the side effects are not as bad as with the Amlodopine ,I am still experienceing severe tiredness and feel muddled and confused at times. I have only been on them for a week now and have to go back to my GP in three weeks time, but even though I am back in work I am not functioning the way that I should be. I would appriciate it if I could hear from any one else who is on this medication because I have gone from a very active person to one who is struggling to get through the day . Thank you

To the people on here that have considered stopping meds all together, DON'T, a stroke or chronic kidney disorder is far worse than a bit of discomfort.
Lorsartan, may not be right for everyone, but as someone who has tried most of the alternatives it works for me, my bp is now 145/80 which is acceptable.

It's good to hear happy news, so well done on getting your blood pressure under control on just a tiny dose of Losartan. Wish it worked for me as it's the first pill out of half a dozen tried that hasn't caused me any noticeable, nasty side effects. It's amazing how it works for some and not for others - I guess it depends on the reason for each person's individual high BP. You say that you have also been watching your diet, so I'm wondering if you have lost weight which may also have contributed to your success. Whatever you are doing, keep it up and keep well.

I'm taking Losartan Potassium 50mg for the past 4months now and experiencing severe itching on my feet and hands.
Does anyone experience any similar symptoms after taking Losartan Potassium tablets?
Any remedies please?
Thanks

I would always advise to consult your Doctor before giving up on medication as high BP is a killer.Mine was not excessively high or I would never have stopped.I will continue to home monitor.Get your Doctor to check your meter as many aren't too brill and always make sure you change batteries regularly. Also don't neglect your Doctor.Still go for regular consultations. Its educational for your Doctor Too ! How will they know the best treatment if we don't keep them up to date !

I have been on on 50mg Losartan and 10 mg Amlodipine for over 5 years
I always feel tired and for me the worst effect can be severe itching .
I have CKD which is now at LEVEL 3B for quite a few years .
Fortunately I do not work aged 78, The doctors say it age related so perhaps I should not complain. I find I have to rest up in the afternoon OK IN MORNING
Best of luck with meds
Regards
Phil
