Menopause! Fatigue, crying, aching, nauseous, headaches

Posted , 121 users are following.

Sitting here crying...... again! Feeling awful.  Woke up this morning feeling nauseous and aching legs.  Went for a run on Monday.  Still recovering.  Had hoped to go again yesterday but felt awful.  Tired all the time.  Anxious about everything.  Putting on weight but can't stop eating.  Had various tests - all ok, including colonoscopy and mammogram.  Worried myself silly in the run up to Christmas ..... Virtually read myself the last rights.  Have no confidence.    Awful temper.  Nagging....... Sick of hearing myself rant on to my 12 year old son.  What will help.  I've read about B6, is B-50 worth a try (Holland and Barrett)?

    Leslely,

I am so sorry that you are feeling so bad. I really do understand what you are staying and it will pass, just not fast enough, for sure.

Do try the vitamins and other supplements, they may not be a cure all but I believe the supplements do help us. We are all different so what works for one may not another.  Worth a try isn't it?

I know your pain, had many days like it. They are easing up a bit and believe me, I have tried a whole gamut of things to offset these bouncing and declining hormones.

Supplementing with vitamins is a great place to start, there are many other things that help as well, AntiDepressants are helpful for some as are HRTs, neither are a bad choice, it's what will bring your quality of life back to you and please don't let anyone try to shame you in picking one over the other if that is what you decide. It's your life and this is no dress reheasal.

When you feel better, exercise is also helpful, but when we are this low, it's the last thing we feel we can muster up the strength to do. Not to mention if you are like me, all of the sudden when I did exercise, my muscle recovery time really lagged. Thought I was dying after doing simple Gentle Yoga...........sad wasn't, it's just part of this. And I used to do real strenous exercise before. Can't wait to get back into it when I feel a bit better.

Consider discussing with your doctor your options and be honest how you feel. You are not losing your mind, just declining hormones. There is help and this is a temporary phase that unfortunately feels like forever right now

Praying you will feel better soon. Sending you big hugs!

    Hi lesley

This is how I feel at times tired, crying, at times, anxieties up at times, yelling at boyfriend at times

B6 can help with moods and depression you should try it and see if it works for you i know for me it made me sick with a panic attack when I took one on Dec 24 ended up in the E.R. high heart rate and all

What ever works for you you should try then if it dosen't work talk to your doctor and see what he recomends

Just joined the group, this is awesome. I've been having most of the symptoms mentioned and feel great that this is why I feel awful. I am 49, all my blood work comes back with in normal levels indicating no hormonal changes, O.B.G.Y.N. says that can happen at certain times? My biggest complaint is the fatigue. Like i read in one of the posts, no matter how much sleep you get you still feel tired. I've never been like that and was really worried about it. I do get the night sweats, hot flahes, nausea as well. Thanks so much for this group, i feel so much better smile

Hi, my name is Lesley also. I was googling to try to find someone who had symptoms like me. I feel like I have a fever, but it does not register as one. I feel tired, and hungry.  I have skipped my period.  The last period was in April. Anyway, feeling sick, tired, and feverish.  I am hoping it isn't cancer or anything bad.  Do all women go through this ?  I think we should, or you should start a FACEBOOK page IS IT MENOPAUSE?   I just want to know I'm not dying.  I have felt like this for about 10 days now.  I have had a few breaks inbetween, but for the most part I've been feverish with no fever.  I have had 3-4 days of migraines but they f inally quit.  Also, my blood pressure goes up because of water weight gain.  I can't imagine this is really menopause. I got a gyno appt. in about a week.  Thank you. for your posts.

I'm so sick and tired of these stupid doctors saying oh no your too young!!!!!

Absolute rubbish. I was going to my doctor from the age of 40 with peri symptoms and I got the same response.

I'm now 49 and was!!!! And still am going through peri.

They have only acknowledged that I am peri in the last two years due to missed periods.

I did my own research and like you ladies found these sites that gave me more info than any go.

I was told get counselling and take antidepressants you are clearly depressed.

I kept telling them yes I am due to all my symptoms but I know something is going on!!!.

I'm now year nine of peri. Only two periods in the last eight months. If you are not having hot flushes then they won't even entertain you.

So yes it sounds like peri to me.

Of course have the usual blood tests or checks for any concerns that might not be hormone related.

I just don't get the complete lack of knowledge for the perimenopause stage which can start in your late thirties.

Hang in there its a bumpy ride x

      Hi Linda,

The 'morning sickness' is my worst symptom and although oestrogen only HRT is helping (I think) I haven't found anything yet that gets rid of it. Since I started HRT my night sweats have stopped altogether though 😊

      Hope that helps...

Wow! I've just read most ladies posts & am shocked (& relieved at the same time) that I am not alone. How can do many women be going through this hideousness? Why do GPs / anyone think it's ok just because it's me menopause that we have to deal with this stuff? I'm 42 & been peri for a good few years but didn't have a clue, started getting migraines Aug 15 & not had a period for well over a year now, after feeling like I was going psychotic & generally wanting to curl up in a ball & be alone, (& after a lot of pushing with my GP for bloods) I have had 2 very raised FSH & LH levels back & they've finally agreed with me that I'm in menopause. I've been through (& still going through) hell, so so tired, headaches, sickness, constant flu like feeling, like so many others this is just not me, I was running 4-5 times a week & horse riding twice, very active & loved life. Can barely get up now. Can't bear to look in the mirror, hair has thinned so much, put on over a stone & really watch what I eat, given up alcohol, smoking, nothing fun anymore. Been started on HRT (Premique) just over a month ago but not feeling any benefits at all. Am so sick of feeling like this, just want the 'old' me back. I feel for every single woman posting here, these symptoms we have to deal with are horrendous, I'm a strong woman, & im battling through, but sometimes you really feel like saying 'come on, Jesus - give me an effing break!!' 😬

Phewww I'm 49 and I've been going through all these symptoms for nearly a year now and it is truly hideous I've gone from an active, outgoing, confident mum to a wreck. . My bloody doctors probably put down a diagnosis of hypochondriac on my medical notes although I know I'm not my symptoms are very real but it's the anxiety and panic attacks that are the worst hell. At least I haven't got some horrid terminal disease it's called being a middle aged woman having a (crisis) takes the P, and we can normally get through a crisis then bring on life again I can't wait even if I'm a stone heavier with no hair or facial hair, have too laugh otherwise I'd cry which I do often.... Seriously thank God I found info on the net because otherwise I wouldn't have a clue I don't think much to the help or info out there in the real world, love to you allx

Hi Jo, I totally understand what you are going through. I'm going through many of the same symptoms and I'm only 35. I know I'm in peri as my sister who is 2 years older is going through it too although I seem to have started before her I think by maybe a year. Of course doctors say I'm too young. sad anyway I'm just wondering if the HRT has helped you at all?

      Hi Jo,

I could have replied to plenty of the women over here but decided to send you a message. I think mainly to make myself feel better by realising that we are all on the same terrible peri menopause boat. Feels more like a sinking ship than a boat btw.... wink lol....and I think I just wanted to put my experience and feelings in writing for once...just to get it off my chest and to acknowledge what is going on.

I am 52, not only sporty and lively but literally living the life of a 30 year old but really....many days I feel like I have been under a train. I don't have the usual hot flushes but got all the other weird symptoms such as tiredness, sickness, the flu feeling (thought that really triggered me in your story) being teary, negative thoughts in my head, afraid to have a terrible disease, afraid to die....not accepting that I am getting older....body doesn't cope very well with alcohol anymore etc etc....and who believes that this is peri menopause?  To whom can you tell this miserable story.

I totally recognise your feeling of wanting your old self back. Every day when I wake up I hope this peri menopause dream/nightmare is over.

I have been trying HRT for several years but eventually I ended up with terrible migraines. Also the question is for how long are you going to use this and when will you take the hit?

Been on various vitamins now (for 5 weeks) and together with my positive approach/mentality and the amazing support of my boyfriend I tend to believe that it gives improvement although it is just baby steps and unfortunately nothing major. Could write a book, perhaps I should do that and make money on it wink so let me put an end to my writing.

In case you read it, wishing you all the best, keep your head up and I hope that 10 months, after you wrote your comment, has brought improvement for you.

      Cheers/Margot

      Hello ladies..

So good to know we are not alone..

Feel okay one day wake up like s**t the next.. what really got my attention was keep getting flue symptoms..

All Dr says is exercise which I know can help but some days I just walk around like a zombie, feel I could sleep all day and ache all over, sore throat, headache.. so really cannot be arsed to exercise...!!! Do want to exercise as used to love it but feel after exercise my flue symptoms are worse..

Anyway rant over, probably needed it..😜Good luck on this journey everyone.. xxx

I'm sooo tired of all these symptoms, went to see my doctor again and he says it's not menopause.... Headaches, nausea, painful joints, periods coming every 18 days, sinus dripping, fatigue, bloated. Breast pain, thinning hair, panic attacks, some days I have high BP, some days I have low BP. Heart palpitations,  all of these symptoms.

You are not alone. I feel for you. Lot of the same, Just upped my HRT cream. Been 10 days. Feeling really good but still waiting since my symptoms can be cyclical so will see what happens in another 3 weeks.  I'm gonna see an endocrine (hormone) specialist if my menopause doc can't help.  I think you should try the endocrine specialist.  Sounds like your whole hormone system needs to be treated.  Hang in there and find another doc!

      Hi Jo,

Just found your post and your "give me an effing break"  made me smile coz that's EXACTLY how I feel!!! I'm going to plague the life of my local gp to try and get them, the world, to take this seriously. If men had these symptoms, they'd be given permanent sick-leave, soothing tones of understanding and a live-in carer! 😕Hope you're ok,

      Best Wishes,

      Deb
