Menopause - Perimenopause and Nausea

Hello Ladies, I found a little slice of information that may help some of you. I'd been dealing with horrible morning sickness like symptoms for months now. I just referred to it as nausea. My daughter, who just had a baby said "mom, that sounds like morning sickness". And she was dead right!

I'll just cut to the chase. After some research I found this page: https://suite.io/deanna-lynn-sletten/2zxy21w

Needless to say, I have been nausea free for two weeks now. (I wanted to make sure it was really working before I posted)

I recently (a few months back)  started drinking coffee in the morning only as a cure for constipation. (I hate coffee) I was also only eating some almonds for breakfast and three meals a day. Well, the writer of this blog has a few tips on what to change in your daily life to help you get through this phase. I stopped the coffee and drink Ginger/Honey tea,I  eat a banana for breakfast and smaller meals throughout the day. Most the writers other advice I already do.

Day one of my change... zero nausea. And everyday since for two weeks now. I'm still slightly dizzy, just slightly. But the most horrible side of it is gone. I hope this helps a lot of you too.

Best of health to you all! biggrin

Happy to find this sight. I haven’t had a period in 6 months, age 54. For the last 5 months I’ve had continuous right sided headache 24/7. I wake up with horrible nausea & dizziness. My jaws hurt @ my head feels inflamed. I do not take Hart. Doctors understand nothing about this. Any advice😢

Hi Janett, I would go to a menapause specialist to talk about HRT. I suffered from headache, nausea and stomach bloat and heartburn.  started HRT mid September and haven’t suffered since. Still hoping this continues since the symptoms were cyclical but so fur so good. Good luck!

Hi Janet, I agree with Shana. My symptoms are also much better with bio identical progesterone cream and a low dose of thyroid meds as low progesterone can cause under active thyroid. All the best x

Hello janett. I very much understand how you feel. Yes it's all about menopause....... For me what gave me so much peace that nothing was wrong was when I saw the Gastroenterologist and did all manners of tests (scans, blood, endoscopy). It helps psychologically. My candid advice is to see a specialist such as a gastroenterologisit do all necessary tests. Then take it from there. I tell you magically you will feel great to know you are fine. I posted a comment yesterday. Please read through. For now try ginger tea ( please see my chat).

    Hi all~

I'm glad to have found this forum, it seems the only menopause symptom anyone talks about it are the hot flashes. I have not had any of those. I'm 54 and for about the past 6 months, have had digestive problems, feeling like I can't wear anything tight across my stomach, even wearing a bra is painful sometimes. Has anyone else dealt with this? I still have been having periods. For nausea, I tried Nauzene, and OTC medicine that seems to work ok. I'm going to cut out coffee in favor of ginger tea. I used to be able to eat anything and not have problems, but now I never know what to expect. I'm drinking lots of water, and have been losing weight without even trying, which would normally be good! But I'd rather not feel like I have been.It is good to know I'm not alone in this~wishing you all better health. wink

Hi Lori! No, you are not alone. There are lot of ladies of our age with the same problem. My first peri symptoms were digestive  ones-dyspepsia, lots of gas, bloated, reflux. No hot flashes so far, more or less regular periods.  Digestive symptoms caused anxiety and panic attacks. Abdominal pain, gas related,  completely unpredicatble in location and duration. I am 53, with these symptoms present for 2 years now. But since I accepted them as a normal and expected events they are less present and no more cause of anxiety. Cheers!

      Hi Maria!

I like your attitude about this, accept that this is the way it is, for now. I will try to remember this and hope to be able to feel less anxious about it. Thanks for the quick response and positive way of thinking! Cheers to you, too! smile

Sure, we are on the same ship with wavy sea :  )  The problem is that health care profesionals do not have holistic approach and the ones we visited (GIs, or other specialists) did not tel us that GI symptoms comes with peri....I am physician myself, but not a gynecologist : ( All the best!

Hi Maria, my menapause specialist as well as GI didn’t feel stomach issue were a menapause symptom either. But gyn increased my HRT to see if it helped and it made a major difference. I think everyone women is is unique and if the studies don’t include specific symptoms it’s not included in the docs list.   Be well.

Oh my gosh..this sounds like me..i JUST went out last night to get leggings to wear with sweaters because I cannot stand the feel of pants on my stomach area! It’s not that pants/jeans are too small/tight, they just feel annoying! And if I never wore a bra again, that would be fine with me,..however that’s not exactly appropriate a teacher lol..so O modify my wardrobe and try to realize I’m not dying and that I’m not alone ..that is all we can do, because there appears no easy solution..

) Hi Amy~it is so frustrating that things used to be so easy, get dressed, throw on whatever you want, and you're good to go. Now, it takes so much thought, will this be comfy for the whole day, or do I need a backup outfit? LOL And don't get me started on bras...Hope to be back to those days again, someday.

I cant tell you all how helpful all the posts have been. I thought i was losing my mind. I had an Endometrial ablation to stop heavy periods which has stopped the heavy periods but has sent me into menopause full throttle. Thinning hair, hot flashes, nausea, joint pain, feeling like you're in a fog, heart palpitations. I thought i was going crazy until i discovered this website. Women who have no menopausal symptoms look at you like your nuts when you explain these symptoms. Its nice to know I'm not alone and will try some sort of ginger for the nausea. thanks ladies!

Had all blood work done and found nothing, I am waiting for my hormone panel results.Has anyone tried HRT? and does it work? Im a little leery but just want to feel like my old self again. I will try the ginger root for the nausea. thanks ladies!
