Menopause - Perimenopause and Nausea

Posted , 105 users are following.

Hello Ladies, I found a little slice of information that may help some of you. I'd been dealing with horrible morning sickness like symptoms for months now. I just referred to it as nausea. My daughter, who just had a baby said "mom, that sounds like morning sickness". And she was dead right!

I'll just cut to the chase. After some research I found this page: https://suite.io/deanna-lynn-sletten/2zxy21w

Needless to say, I have been nausea free for two weeks now. (I wanted to make sure it was really working before I posted)

I recently (a few months back)  started drinking coffee in the morning only as a cure for constipation. (I hate coffee) I was also only eating some almonds for breakfast and three meals a day. Well, the writer of this blog has a few tips on what to change in your daily life to help you get through this phase. I stopped the coffee and drink Ginger/Honey tea,I  eat a banana for breakfast and smaller meals throughout the day. Most the writers other advice I already do.

Day one of my change... zero nausea. And everyday since for two weeks now. I'm still slightly dizzy, just slightly. But the most horrible side of it is gone. I hope this helps a lot of you too.

Best of health to you all! biggrin

    Hi Ladies;

    My name is Leisa;

    I am new here and reading through all these threads make me feel so not alone but a little bit about my situation. I guess we are all sisters of sorts going through the same CRAP!

    I am age 51 and my periods started going haywire about 3 years ago. 2 years ago (did not like this doctor at all) did my pap, said my endometrial lining felt thick and sent me for a transvaginal and abdominal ultrasound. They did say my stripe was 14mm but outside of that everything looked good. She tried to talk me into a biopsy and I never did it as my OB-GYN (this was my primary) didn't feel it was necessary unless my heavy, long period continue and they did not

    I have not had a period now for 11 months and the past 6 months I have been getting BAD bouts of on and off extreme nausea. They usually only last a few days but this last one has been going on 2 dang weeks. I thought it was the stomach flu but that would not last 2 weeks so as we women do, I started Googling and was completely convinced I had ovarian, stomach, uterine and pancreatic cancer (I hope not). I had just had ALL my labs ran 3 months ago and they were all perfect. I went to the doctor yesterday and she didn't think menopause caused nausea but I am hearing more and more from you ladies that this is a common thing. I would be relieve to know that is what this is. She did more tests and all normal and did confirm I am full blown menopausal (which I kind of knew).

    *Perfect labs

    *Not obese

    *I do smoke (bad girl I know but that is really my only vice - I don't drink)

    *I own a property management company so my stress level is ALWAYS through the roof

    *My diet (admittidly) sucks due to my schedule.

    *Not in any pain accept for an occasional lower central back ache

    Can anybody relate to these on again off again bouts of nausea? I have lost 8 lbs as nothing looks good. My husband made crab legs the other night (my FAVORITE food) and the smell about made me throw up.

    Please tell me I am not losing my mind or dying of cancer! This last doctor told me it could be H Pylori Bacterial infection and also brought up possible gallbladder issues. I can't test for the H Pylori for 2 weeks as I was taking Pepto and I would think if this was gallbladder I would be in pain.

    Help please. I am going crazy worrying (which is not helping ) that I have a terminal disease and it's all but consuming my life!

      hi leisa. without going into too mich detail... im 52. had nausea and bloating on and off for 2 years. periods are wonky. last spring the bloating and nausea for constant for a few months... CONSTANT!! I thought, like you, that i had some sort of cancer. got checked out. even a uterine biopsy., ugh, so not fun. doctors not helping with issue. read some threads. came across someone mentioning a supplement called AGNUS-CASTUS CHASTE TREE BERRY... and holy mother of moses... IT WORKED!! WITH A COUPLE OF DAYS.. i couldnt ffind it at walmart...so looked on amazon. i ended up ordering. Natures Answer.. Vitex.. agnus-castus chaste tree berry. 90 capsules. i took once a day. it felt a miracle to me.. and felt normal again. it runs about 8 bucks or so. if you do try it, let me know how it goes. if i do feel a little bloated or nausea on occasion, which is rare now.. i just take some for a day or two. please keep me posted!!!!MargieFile size is too big

      Margie;

      Thank you so much. I am ordering. I hope that is what is wrong with me (menopause). This is awful. Last night was terrible. I had hot flashes all night it seemed and really bad heartburn. Took some pepto and I was able to at least go to sleep. This morning I am exhausted!

      The frustrating part is DOCTORS (almost every one) said nausea is not part of menopause so they test for everything but. Cost me another $600 day before yesterday and I had just had my labs done 3 months ago and all were perfect. Only thing confirmed was I am in full blown menopause.

      Did you have (or do you have) occassional pelvic cramping and lower back pain. This does not bother me as it's mild cramping kind of like with a bowel movement.

      Thank GOD for other women out there like you! XOXO Margie

      Hi Leisa

      I'm so sorry you are also suffering like the rest of us here. My nausea was constant for 2 years with bouts of extreme nausea on top of the chronic nausea. I also had many other symptoms. It got so bad that I couldn't even work or look after my family. My doctors also sent me for ultrasounds and blood tests and finally, when everything came back normal, put me on antidepressants. I knew this wasn't my problem so I continued searching for someone who could help me and from reading this forum (about 18 months ago) I realised all my troubles were hormonal. I found an amazing naturopath in my area who listened to my story and confirmed it. I also take chaste Berry extract, but it wasn't strong enough to take away my symptoms alone. He also prescribed me bio identical progestogen cream. It does not have the risks of the synthetic hrt many women are worried about. Within 2 weeks of starting the cream I was a new person. I have kept improving over the last 18 months and now I would say I'm at 90%. I'm so happy that I can function normally again. The only symptom I get now is the odd bout of mild nausea in the night that lasts about 10 minutes and these happen about twice a month. Please try and get some bio identical progesterone cream. I'm not sure where you live. I'm in South Africa so we have compounding pharmacies that manufacture it, but I know in the States you can buy it on amazon. There are no dangers with using the bio identical progesterone. Let us know and best of luck🤗

      Hello! I dont know why the medical field doesnt acknowledge nausea with perimenopause and menopause. Its not on any of the most commons symptons list. So many women are suffering from it. Sometimes I feel like Im pregnant again. It makes sense the nausea and feeling of imbalance because our hormones are all over the place and out of wack. Anyway, you're not alone in this. Mine comes and goes..I fear the next bout! Hang in there ladies

      HI MARGIE

      SORRY ...... Know this is off topic but ......

      Do you have a history of heart burn? I ask because i mistook what i thought where hot flushes and heart burn was actually me having a heart attack. Apparently its more common than we think for Dr's to miss cardiac issues in women during and at peri menopause. I luckily went to hospital as this 'sweating and heartburn' wouldn't stop. During an angiogram I had a massive CARDIAC Spasm (my left main stem closed by 90%), this caused a heart attack which thankfully fast thinking consultant put a stent in to open up artery.

      This was two years ago, i was 45 and a smoker - i only went for the angiogram as a DR had a gut feeling something was wrong.....all my tests came back pretty normal - Hospital was going to do angiogram as an outpatient but thankfully due to that senior drs 'gut' i live to fight another day.

      I don't want to scare anyone but think WE as 40 & 50 something women should be told warning signs of serious life threatening conditions and not put everything down to the menopause.

      love RUTH XX

      I don't have heartburn very often. If I eat chocolate right before bed I do. Did have it pretty bad the past few nights but that has not been my issue.

      Mine has strictly been the nausea (which is better) and a few nights ago had pelvic cramping and lower back ache (both gone now).

      I feel better but not 100% They think it may also be H Pylori but can't do the test for 2 weeks because I have been taking Pepto. I often wonder how much these doctors know. Example not 1 (not ONE) recognized nausea as a symptom of menopause yet here we all are!

      Had some more blood tests done. Anybody know if these levels are normal:

      Amylase : 98

      Lipase: 27

      Vitamin B12: 835

      She didn't say too much about these

      i agree with you - it is shocking that there are so many of us experiencing nausea with no formal acknowledgement of it as a menopausal symptom - which adds to our anxiety! thank you for these posts.

      hi Alex - i am 53 and struggling with Nausea in menopause. i descibe it to all drs as just like morning sickness in my pregnancy. ive had scans and bloods - normal apart from confirmation of post menopause. i am a South African based in Australia. i am healthy otherwise - normal weight, non smoker, wine once a week, exercise etc etc. my dr has also given me a script for anti depressants but i havent started them because i want to actually find out the cause of the nausea and believe it is hormonal although the drs have told me that nausea is not associated with menopause. did your naturopath specialise in menopause? i work full time and just dont want to waste more time and money on medical appointments that are ineffective. would appreciate your advice. thank you.

    hello, I hope this thread still gets replies. I am so scared I'm 49, experience hot flashes, night sweats and very lighter than normal periods. my main concern is nausea. It starts first thing in the morning and continues until anywhere from noon to 2. I have horrible acid reflux that started when I was 44 and entering perimenopause. I believe the reflux is from hormones and the nausea either from the reflux, or the drop in hormones as I get closer to menopause. I take omeprazole for the reflux. The world is terrifying right now and I have a daughter who depends on me. My anxiety is through the roof and I pray every day that I can make it through. Perimenopause is horrible. My diet is pretty healthy, i exercise daily and i chew fresh ginger every day. Sometimes it helps, sometimes nothing can ease the nausea. I have never been so scared in my life.

      awwww sending you big hugs. I've got the exact symptoms as you.

      My health anxiety is through roof.

      I keep calm as ive had endoscopy, scans, bloods etc

      Now I've got piles with my bowel changes....waiting for an appointment for that area now!

      it's constant and I keep telling myself it's perimenopause

      I hope you find some peace after this message
