Mono need help

Hi so In June I woke up one morning feeling very weak. I thought I needed to eat something but when I ate breakfast I still felt weird. I ended up having my first panic attack. My entire summer was filled with ER visits for weakness, low energy, fatigue, dizziness, off balance feeling, and generally feeling unwell. It turns out I have mono (diagnosed a week ago). I don't know what to do. Just looking for others' stories and well and recovery process. It's my 3rd month and I just feel so helpless. ?? Thanks guys ! Blessing to all

Hi guys I'm just writing today because I'm at my wits end. I thought today was going to be a good day. Although I didn't feel 100% I felt ok. I went for a walk and sat in the sun for a while. However , that was just making my symptoms and if I'm being honest I'm extremely off today. I feel VERY lightheaded and having bad brain fog. It's making me very sad and I just want to cry . I wouldn't mind the fatigue if it didn't come with the light headedness. I keep eating so that the light headedness will leave but it's not and I'm just sad

Ahhhhh Christy,
i get it, I get it sooooo much. I used to have loads of days, when I didn't really know how I felt, thought I was ok and then unded up walking upstairs to bed in the aftenoon, feeling really bad. The fatigue is just awful, along with achiness, low mood etc. I would say from 9 months for me I started feeling much better. I am now having loads of good days with very minimal bad ones and I am starting to forget how bad I did feel!!!
people say you'll get better and you won't believe them or will find it hard to believe them but that will happen. You just have to ride it out. It's hard , very hard.

Caroline, I so appreciate your post! I'm having more good days than bad ones. I still have quite afew days my body says this is a rest only day.
I'm so thankful to overall be so much better! I'm doing lite exercise and longer walks.
The memory of the most horrible hours and days is less vivid. I still encourage myself on down days by reminding my where I've been and where I am now Praise God for His grace and those of you who help keep us all encouraged!

That happens a lot when you are first starting to recover, I remember walking two blocks with my mom and being wiped out for two days.
I sometimes wonder if the dizziness lightheaded feeling is from the inner ear, my friend says it can cause inflammation of the ear and in the beginning I had ear problems, one of my first signs of the virus. Take it easy and try not to worry, I know you can do little else with this stupid virus, better days are coming Christy.

Hey Christy,
All the guys are right, it's so so hard and even though people tell you things will get better, when you're not seeing it come to pass it drains everything out of you and I just want you to know that I've been there too. As Caroline says it's a hard storm to ride out, but keep hanging in there because there will be a turning point, just don't expect too much of yourself just now and remember when you're having a bad day or feel overwhelmed with the symptoms that this is just a phase of the virus and it's normal to go through that, but that it will pass over and that it's only temporary and that you won't always feel the way you feel in those moments.
Rhonda, it's great to hear you're seeing some progress, praise God indeed! Just hoping everyone on here can see the fruits of progress and good health and that we can all praise God for what He has done in our lives and the restoration He has brought

No worries Christy,
its so hard to see "the getting better" it's so draining and miserable.
ive described myself as a sloth!! Just creeping along, I would now say I've crossed the road and I am starting to climb the tree now!!! Sloth like!! I try and laugh through it all!!😂 I've not always laughed though, lots of,tears too😭 ... You're getting there, just like mono and Rhonda.

Caroline is right you most definitely will get there!! And you are right too that Caroline is a wonderful blessing to folks on here with her constant encouragement of others despite going through such a hard time with the virus herself - thanks Caroline!!
I just hope you are feeling settled today Christy.....I am telling you today that WITHOUT ANY DOUBT at all YOU ARE GOING TO GET 100% BETTER!!! So try not to worry (hard as it is), patience is not easy at all but there will be brighter days ahead

I was in hospital with GF 8 weeks ago for 3 days. The week before I was admitted was truly awful. But strangely as soon as I left hospital I felt ok. I had an appetite, reasonable energy and still rested as much as I could. However, 10 days ago (7 weeks after GF) I had digestive issues, constipation, nausea and vomited once. Gradually I began to feel a little better but last night woke up with a splitting headache. Today I am the most tired I have ever been in my life. I literally cannot move. Is it possible for chronic fatigue syndrome to start so long after?

I'm no doctor but I definitely believe it's still the mono effecting your body , it can take up to several weeks for the fatigue to kick in. For me it did. I had a sore throat in May yet came down with fatigue in June. Idk if the two are connected but if so that means the mono was in the system for quite sometime

My eyes are struggling to stay open, I feel really anxious and my head is really tense if that makes sense. I took 4 weeks off from the gym, was starting to feel normal again after 3 weeks of weight training, got the all clear for my liver function and now everything seems to have ground to a halt again. I’m really depressed now.
It sounds like there’s nothing we can do but try to rest. So depressed.

Hi Graeme,
So sorry to hear you've been having such a tough time with glandular fever. Just want to write to reassure you that it is normal for this to be ongoing for the period of time you have had it, unfortunately it can take several months (and it did for me) to get better but it doesn't mean to say you have Chronic Fatigue, it's just the way recovery seems to go with this and want to reassure you that given time you will still make a full and complete recovery, I truly believe that having been through it myself and thought I would never get better at one point!
Thinking of you and don't worry about Chronic Fatigue....the fatigue is all normal during recovery from the virus (not that is helps when going through it) and don't panic if it doesn't go right away because it will most definitely go! Taking vitamins and herbs definitely helped me, a good strong multi-vitamin as well as B complex for energy levels and high doses of Vitamin C (1000mg-3000mg per day), and an immune boosting herb like siberian ginseng or echinicea - will give your immune system a good boost.
Hang in there and remember you WILL get better!
Craig
