Muscle twitching and jerks

Posted , 60 users are following.

Hi. I have read a couple of places that other people experience this with peri. Just wondering if anyone has a clue as to what causes it. It was bad for about a week and then got better. Now it's back. Ugh. Such a worrisome symptom. Please again tell me I am not alone on this one!

Has anyone found anything that you can take to stop the muscle twitches? I have started magnesium but was wondering if anyone knew of anything else.

Hi everyone, It's been awhile since anyone posted, so thought I would check in to see how everyone is doing. My twitches are still going strong, almost a year now. Sometimes they are bad, sometimes not, but I always have them. I go between ignoring them and being scared, so nothing has really changed. Hope the rest of you are faring better.

I am so so so glad I came across this thread! I'll be 50 in a few months and I've been getting weird twitches and muscle spasms randomly and frequently- mostly my thighs, rib cage, and triceps. I've been freaking out and terrified that I've got like ALS or MS or something horrible. I'm so relieved to know its not uncommon and other women get this too. Thank you all!

No idea what causes it but I had muscle twitches and cramps bad during menopause. I had myself thinking I had ALS which I'm sure didn't help. That was four years ago. I still get periods of twitching, mostly in my feet and legs.

First I want to say hello and I'm a newbie here. You are definitely not alone, I also experience the unpleasant muscle twitching. I also experience electric shocks which are very painful in my head.

I really thought I was alone. I'm so sorry to hear that you are experiencing this but it was a relief to hear that I am not alone and we can help each other by sharing our experiences. I thank God, I had no clue this was a symptom of menopause.

Thank you for sharing. I will be praying for you as I know this is so unpleasant.

Hi! I am having similar symptoms: Muscles jerking and twitching when I am trying to rest. Some days it happens more often than others. My doctor believes it is my anxiety. I don't really think that is the case and I am feeling somewhat relieved to see I am not the only one. Like some have said, I was fearing the worst.

I started taking magnesium to see if there is any change. It's so alarming and random. It really freaks me out.
