My Anteria and Posteria Repair

Posted , 126 users are following.

Hi Ladies,

Prior to having my Anteria and Posteria Repair, mainly due to problems going for a poo, when to be frank it felt like I was trying to push the poo sideways out of my bottom, resulting in lots of pain and blood - making me very unhappy. After reading this and other forums, which I found very helpful (which is why I'm contributing now in the hopes that this helps others) I decided that although some people had not had a good experience it was worth the risk rather than putting up with the pain for the rest of my life (47 at the time).

On examining me the Dr found that I had significant bladder weakness too and he suggested that he could improve both - he did seem to focus on the bladder a little when I kept telling him it was my bum that was more of an issue - I digress a little as you know how dismissive doctors can be and how hard it is to stick up for yourself, especially in this area which not only affects you physically but psycologically as it impacts your sexuallity and self confidence too.

So I had the op in May 2013 and I recognise a lot of the other post-op entries on this forum but the main instructions were - 3 Golden Rules, number 1 - don't lift more than half a kettle for 6 weeks. Number 2 do pelvic floor exercises or it will all come back and need doing again. Number 3 make sure you stick to rule one and two.

I took 8 weeks off work (I have a desk job and a supportive employer) and followed the rules I, 2 and 3. Yes it was difficult and very frustrating also for the family to remember when you look fit and able but you can't bend to pick stuff up as it would pressure where you shouldn't have it.

It wasn't all plain sailing with pain and concern about stitches not disolving as quick as I hoped but I wanted to let you know that now (9 months on) I feel more confident, sexy and in control of my bodily functions. The Rectocele hasn't made things perfect but things are still improving even after so long so perhaps it will get even better but if not, its much much better than before.

Regarding the sex, thats better too and one thing I wanted to share - I noticed significant dryness for around 6 months, around the scar tissue but I', happy to say that this is also is improving.

Basically well worth having done and I would advise anyone to go for it. Prolaps issues should be taken much more seriously by GPs as it is embarassing to discuss and we deserve to feel 'Right' and everything that entails!!

      Hi there

i am not sure what the pelvitone machine does.  Before my surgery was agreed I used a little electronic machine to try and help with my pelvic floors but it didn't work as I think I was probably beyond anything other than surgery.  I am now 12 weeks post surgery and things down below are great tho I will start to use the electronic machine now that I am 12 weeks post op to improve my pelvic floors and make sure that there are no prolapses of any kind in future so it was worth the money.

thanks for your post it was very uplifting to read.  I had my surgery for prolapse bladder on june 23rd (6 and half weeks ago) and am wondering if some of my symptoms are similar to what you experienced.  I go back to work next week on Wednesday.  I constantly get swollen stomach, and cramp like aches in my lower belly as if I have had period pain (but I have had hysterectomy 20 years ago).  I get very tired and I also have anterior/posterier vaginal repair and up about 2 inches into my vagina I have a very sharp piece of nylon or plastic (stiches?) - is this similar to what you experienced?

    thanks Ally

      Hi

i obviously didn't have the same operation as you but similar but nearly 6 months on and I am still very tired.  I don't think we realise how much it takes out of us.

Every pain I had I thought that something had gone wrong.  It's a very personal operation and I think we just want everything to be perfect ASAP but unfortunately it is a long healing process.  The stitches can take up to 12 weeks to fully dissolve.  I had all the aches that you are having but I promise you they do settle down so please try and not worry too much.

even know I am still paranoid that something has gone wrong which is just silly.

good luck with your recovery.  Take it easy as much as you can.  I too went back to work after 6 weeks but wasn't back full time until 12 weeks so just look after yourself and rest when you can and let me know how your doing.

Hi Debi thx so much for ur support ..yes like u I keep thinking ive done damage cos everything I do causes some sort of pain.... its the weight gain I hate and at same time find that just a few easy daily tasks causes more pain and tiredness ... how long before ur bladder started to work normally .. I still feel like I have to pee a lot and can feel the pressure on my bladder to go and moving my bowels causes a whole different set of aches... I try not to say too much to family cos it feels like im complaining all the time .. I see my specialist in 3 days.. r there any thing u have heard me say that was not normal for u that I should ask him about? Thx again Ally

      Hi ally,

I would definitely mention the sharp piece of plastic /stitches altho they will do an internal anyway.  I was so worried that I ended up with an apt to see consultant after only four weeks and I had been worrying over nothing.  I thought I had prolapsed again but hadn't.

my bladder took a while to settle down.  It didn't work at all to begin with and I was discharged with a catheter and even still the flow isn't great and it does take much longer.  I also have to watch that I don't overfill if I am out having a few drinks as it then takes ages to empty and it is very uncomfortable.  It has all been worth it though as I don't have any leakage at all now.

Hi Debi thx for that and for sharing its so great to have someone who understands and has been thru it as I dont know anyone personally who has had procedure and I as such im not sure what questions to ask and what to expect  so thx again cheers Ally ps its time for me to go to bed its past my bedtime in Adelaide south Australia ☺

hi debbie hope things are still getting better for you. I had my posterior vaginal repair 4 days ago and I feel so exhausted all the time. I just about managed a short walk round a lake. I know I'm 70 but before was doing 8 mile hikes. How soon did you get to feel more like your normal self energy wise. Also did you find you were crying a lot more?

      Hi Elsae

wow you are a fit lady.  I just had a checkup tonight 7 1/2 weeks in and only just starting to feel ok.  my specialist said still no vacuuming, or pelvic floor exercises.  walking only.  and i start back at work on monday.

I am still not convinced that the op has worked for me yet as i still have pressure on my bladder as if i have not emptied properly so need to go on antibiotics and need to have vaginal eostrogen as my skin is very thin which is why my stich poked through the skin.

dont feel bad after 4 days....it took me 4 weeks to start to not be sleeping all the time and im 48 years old.

I wasnt crying all the time but it does take a lot out of you.

just rest and dont try to do anything before you are ready

      thanks

      Ally

Short walk round a lake! Please be careful. You do sound very fit, but any dragging sensation is a warning to stop. The more you put your feet up (literally, not just sitting in a chair) the better, at this stage.

I knew it! The guides and pamphlets all say to start pelvic floor exercises straight away. Some even say as soon as the packing comes out. I just found it painful, so stopped. I now use the kegel app, which talks you through it, and takes you through graded exercises. Please be careful back at work. This operation really does take it out of you. Be kind to yourself.

Hi Elsae, Hope you are feeling alot better now from your op. I was very tearful the first week or two after my operation. Anterior vaginal repair, TVTO and perinieum repair. As for the exhaustion eight weeks in i still find if I have a busy day and don't get a chance to properly rest (laying down) I end up exhausted and uncomfortable. My difficulties was finding the conflicting information about recovering from  a pelvic floor repair. I've had to go on three lots of antibiotics and wish I'd had the antibiotics before my op to avoid the consequence of having an infection delaying the healing it seems. I'm not due to see my consultant until November though I have been to the clinic due to infections and had a check. Some of my stiches are still in place and I was adviced to see my GP to have them removed if they haven't disolved by next week. It is scary the recovery period ... I feel like I've been paranoid to the degree where I think I'm going mad sometimes. It stems from not know what normal healing looks/feels like. I still feel pain, I still have the odd spotting of blood, I still feel sore. I have days when I think at last I've turned a corner and think I'm healing nicely then I end up having a day like today when I know I've done too much, lifted my grandson when I know I shouldn't have and have been in pain internally since so I'm feeling miseralbe now and scared. I guess the blues must come and go because you can't do what you normally would do. Like you Elsae i normally do alot of walking but I am still now where near the fitness level I was at before my surgery. I read again and again though that we need to take it easy and listen to our bodies and rest when you feel you need to and don't underestimate the seriousness of the surgery you've had. Take it easy and don't feel you have to rush into recover. The women that seem to have had the best recovery are the ones waited on hand and food for the whole twelve weeks. I don't know why we can't all have such understanding families ... maybe we need to be more assertive and insist we need to take it easy ... The women was the same age as you. She very slowly built up her fitness level and a year later was feeling like a brand new woman. Wishing you a full recovery ... I'm getting back into an old hobbie of mine, reading, it's bliss not to feel guilty about reading instead of doing the housework. All the best. smile

Hi Det, I think you are dead right when you say there is a lot of conficting afvice out there: I guess it's just that everyone is naturally vergy different physiologically. And I think the anterior repairs are worse than the posterior repairs. But it's helpful to hear what others are experiencing and to feel reassured by that. Hope you soon get all the niggles over with: I see the consultant next weeek. That will be just over 5 weeks since my op. so I am a little surprised you are waiting so long. I did have a little bleed and went to the GP; an elderly locum who said that since most women wanted female GPs to do their vaginal exams it was a long time since he'd looked at a vagina. So I told him this was his great chance! Poor man.. but for all that he was very experienced actualy and was able to be quite definite that all was OK. I'm sure we will all be back to our normal selves eventually.... I had my second swim yesterday and managed to double my lengths.Swimming is very relaxing. Good luck.
    • Posted

ooh you're brave going swimming .... I heard it is good for you but after having two bouts of infection and needing three lots of antibiotics I'm so scared of it getting infected again. I might contact the consultant secretary and ask to be seen earlier .. I presumed the fact that I'd been to the clinic since my op that they figured I wouldn't need to be seen as soon. I'm going to contact my physiotherapist about my fitness level. Well done you ... are you actually feeling more comfortable now?

Hi there !! I haven't had my surgery yet but am scheduled for January 9 to have a total hysterectomy , anterior and posterior vaginal vault repair , cystocel (sp) with bladder sling , rectocel and also repairing my perineum . I am scared but it has to be done because it seems as though everything is prolapsed - vagina, uterus, bladder and rectum . I had only gone to me obgyn for my yearly, boy was I surprised to find out I had all of these problems. I'm only 44 and am already having a hard time dealing with my emotions . I'm wondering how you dealt with it and how you're feeling right now . I know this is a year since you posted but hopefully you see this . Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated .

Hi Abbey 75107, I am 36 and had my surgery done on January 4, 2017. I hope your surgery went well. It was my first surgery ever so I too was terrified. I had my uterious removed and bladder repair surgery, im not sure of the technical terms but i got to keep my overies so that makes me happy. I had prolapse to the point that my uterious was protruding out of my vagina it freaked me out. I woke up with vuedigo about 4 nights ago and was rushed to the hospital for that and have been here since so im not sure if my emotional state is from just feeling generally overwhelmed by all these health issues at once especially being a single mom to boot. I am from Canada and I figure i can shed some light on what is going on for me right now and perhaps we can be buddies and at least have someone to talk to about this whole thing. So today is 11 days post op. I had a bit of a rough start leading up to my surgery because i had to cure a yeast infection and then start treating myself for a bladder infection i am currently on my second round of antibiotics and I have high hopes I wont need a third course. In regards to my bladder I have coughed laughed and sneezed with no leackage but i do feel pain when i do all those from my surgery site. I am trying not to lift anything, i did drive my car and that went alright. My hips still hurt i plan to see my chiropractor in hopes he can help with that. I have been noticing it feels weird to pee i agree with the lady above about the inital gush then i rock a little and i get a second trickle. I asked a nusre in the hospital if this is normal since i am stuck here anyways and she said that it is completely normal because everything is still very swoolen that in time everything will work its way beck to feeling more normal. I also was laying in bed chatting with a friend and started peeing glad it was in the hospital bed and not my own, the nusre also said that is normal for above reasons. I have decided to just attempt to try and pee every hour just to be safe. I still have quite a bit of abdominal pain but I have been taking naproxine to manage that it only takes the edge off though. I found lating down with a heat pack on my back ir side and my tummy helps to ease the pain. I also like to lay on my tummy for some reason eventhough it hurts a little it seems to relieve my back pain a little. I know it seems terrible to only be 44 and have to have it done but you could consider it a blessing we are young and our bodies are better at healing faster so that is an added bonus smile I feel very exhausted after being on my feel to long so i am trying my best to ask for help it is so hard to lay around when I am so use to being an independant woman. I am in a very new relatioship and he is taking very good care of me and my 6 year old son so i figure i should marry him before any other ladies catch on to his amazingness! Feel free to message me back even if you just want to talk about how you are feeling. I hope all is well ?

I'm from Canada also and I'm 65,but I have not had the surgery for bladder prolapse.I had a lot of  discomfort for almost 2 years, then last august, opted to try a pessary and  after 2 tries, I have the right size, but it still has its drawbacks.Have to use  estrogen suppositories and Flagyl cream every 3 nights which is supposed to stop bacterial infection.I'm retired, thank goodness because I couldn't have worked with this problem.

      Hi sherry,

I'm 38 years old and had my posterior vaginal wall repair on the 3rd of January 2017, to be honest it's been a pretty tough time, I ended up with a hematoma and infection 8 days post op and had to go back into hospital, I have 4 children so was hoping the recovery would be straight forward but that's not been the case. I saw my consultant on Friday and she said it's healing well and to start doing things round the house but I'm so scared to as I don't want it to prolapse again and since the bleeding has stopped I've noticed I am leaking urine as well, I mentioned this to my consultant but she said they didn't touch my bladder as they were repairing my back wall of the vagina and she said it's most probably because everything is swollen at the moment but I'm still worried. Has anyone had this after this kind of repair and I'm so confused on what I can and can't do, I'm only 3 and a half weeks post op, so just concerned about it all and don't want to put my recovery back. Some advice would be great. Thanks ladies. 😊 xx

A lot of times when you fix one prolapse another will pop up

      Hi Emma,

Sounds encouraging, that you are healing g well and can start pottering around the house.

They should really tell us that thsee repairs are major surgery and can take up to 3 months for the stitches to pull together and heal and can take up to a year for deeper tissues to recover.

Your bladder will be on shock from the anesthetic and as consultant said everything still swollen it can take a few months for swelling to go down.

Bladder will recover eventually and regular pelvic floor exercises will strengthen the muscles and help leakage.

Take plenty time to recover and listen to your body it will soon let you know if you overdo things, just do little bits as pieces and see how it goes and build up slowly. Same with walking start with a couple of 5 mint walks and see how things go.

Avoid any down pressure on the pelvic floor, so be careful not to lift anything more than 500ml and as with everything else build up slowly.

Great advice to be found at top of forum home page.

Take care, try not to worry,

      Phyl x

Hi Emma, just found this forum after weeks of searching one, thanks to all you ladies for sharing, it really helps. I had a total hysterectomy just under a year and a half  ago and then recently I felt that something was wrong, so went back to my doctor who referred me to a specialist and 3 weeks ago today I had my repair (9th of Jan). Next week I'll be having my post op visit, I'm not the anxious kind but this time for some reason I'm so worried that maybe I over did things and need more repair or something, anyway my mind's playing tricks, probably because I've haven't been out of my house since the op.I also have 4 kids, probably partly to blame but well worth it anyway. I was told that the leaking lasts about a month, so it sounds normal to me that you still are. Hope that we all get back to feeling 100% soon. Take care.

      Hi Tammy,

I'm the same, I do feel so anxious at the moment and went to the doctors this morning and I've now got a urine infection, feeling completey fed up and just want things to go back to normal. I am so worried about my bladder but fingers crossed it's due to the urine infection and that everything is swollen. Doctor said if still leaking in a week after the course of antibiotics they will investigate further.

I'm so pleased I've found this forum so nice to speak to people that understand and get some advice. Hope your appointment goes well and you're on the road to recovery. Take care and keep in touch.

Hello Sherry, thank you for your reply! I however, have not had my surgery as of yet. On January 8 I returned to the hospital through the ED due to severe nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. I have had problems like this going on for months and about six weeks prior had had a colonoscopy which had showed nothing except a few minor polyps. Because I could not keep anything down, my doctors decided to admit me and perform another colonoscopy. I am very thankful that they did because this one showed a 9 cm polyp on my ileocecal valve. It was the flat polyp the kind that you don't want to get. Because of its location on the ileocecal valve, it kept the valve from doing its job, opening and closing which in turn caused me to have all the symptoms. I was immediately given a pic line and then tube fed through something called TPN so that my body could get the nutrients that it was lacking. On January 18, I had right hemi colectomy surgery to remove the damaged area around where the polyp was, including the ileocecal valve. I was released on the 25th. It was very painful the first few days, but now, I feel pretty darn good. I am still scheduled for my total hysterectomy and all of the other things but now that is pushed up until February 14th !! Happy Valentine's Day to me! I will keep you apprised on what happens following surgery.

Hi emma . I had my surgery on 3rd Jan 17 went in for front and back prolapse and hysterectomy the latter was a shock when I went for consultation. Day of surgery I had only hysterectomy and back prolapse done as apparently my uterus was double in size so front prolapse seemed to go back . Water works are now working a lot better than pre op bowels are still a no go laxative powders or suppositoris needed. I'm still have the bulging feeling down there at the.back pretty much the same as before op . I did get a water infection two weeks in but seems ok now . Did ask gp if all was ok as it still felt that ir wasnt . She said back wall looked ok from what she could see but as i was so sore inside and out she could look properly .Still have discomfort inside when sitting down at times .I try to rest but sometimes it's hard as I'm not a sit around person . Be nice to hear back from you to compare each others recovery. I'm back at consultant on 21st Feb x

Hi Emma was a little relieved to read your post and sorry you had a bad start but hope things continue well. I am a fit 68 yr old 14 days post op from vaginal hysterectomy (ovaries still intact) and anterior and posterior repair all due to prolapse. The usual tiredness and thinking I can do things and find I can't! Bleeding seems to have stopped but having some leakage which was my biggest fear and had said so to my consultant pre-op as had never had any bladder problems whatsoever much to his surprise. I am hoping after reading your post this will settle down as I have been so upset about it. Good luck with yours and thank you .x

      Hi,

It's so nice to be able to talk to people that have been through the same thing. I finish my course of antibiotics tomorrow and still got leaking, I'm so worried and I'm going to make an appointment to see my doctor on Monday, like you I didn't have any bladder problems ( only a little leakage when I sneezed or coughed😊 ) but this is to the point of having to wear thicker pads, I feel so upset by it and am worried they will now need to give me bladder surgery, ( going through surgery again is the last thing I want) makes me wish I'd never had this done😣 I'm hoping things will settle down and this is just a matter of time. Fingers crossed. I wish you all the best of luck and please keep in touch let me know how you are getting on. Xx

Thanks for replying, so nice to talk to other people that have been through the same thing. I finish my course of antibiotics tomorrow and I'm still leaking, so going back to the doctors on Monday. I must admit I'm so worried, before the op I only had the slight leakage ( when I sneezed or coughed) but this is all the time and having to wear thicker pads. I'm worried I will need bladder surgery ( and surgery is the last thing I want) I'm trying to be positive and hoping this will all settle down in time but feeling anxious about it all. Hope you get on ok at your appointment on the 21st February and you're recovering well. Keep in touch.

      Hi,

I finally got hold of my consultant and I'm seeing him on the 22nd Feb, they seem to think the bladder infection is causing the leaking and have sent my urine sample off to see what bug it is to know what antibiotics to give me as they've tried 2 lots so far and still have it. Fingers crossed it is all down to the infection but still want to be reassured by my consultant and for him to take a look how it's all healing as haven't yet seen him since the day of the op, as always been his registrar. I'll keep you all updated. Keep in touch ladies. 😊 xxx

Hi emma . You'll be seeing the consultant around same time as myself. Went to see the nurse at gp to see if things are ok down there as I'm still.spotting blog after going to loo . She examined me and said all looked ok still swollen and sore inside had swabs done for infection but had nothing back yet so fingers crossed. They couldnt explain why I'm feeling this bulging feeling which is frustrating. Starting to think it's where they stitched me near the.outside. but as they only examine you laid down and not stood up they don't see or feel it . Going to say this when I have my app with gyny . Didn't think things would be so hard . My emotions are all over atm too . It's not being able to see an end to it all .

Thanks for keeping me.updated emma . Hear from you soon . Stay strong x

Hi, had my 4 week post op check up on Tuesday. My doctor (urogynecologist) said that everything is fine and that I can go ahead with everything. I still have some stitches, am swollen and get tired but he said that it all depends on me now.I am definitely not ready for anything, especially not the "function" as he put it eek. He wants me to see my gynecologist in a month, I think that I'll wait until that appointement before going back to gym, proper housekeeping and the 'function".Have a good and restful weekend biggrin

Thanks for replying, I feel completey the same, some days I feel positive about it all and others I feel so emotional. I also feel a bulge down below and I'm so worried somethink is wrong with my bladder. Don't really see an end to it all and nearly 6 weeks post op and certainly couldn't even think about "function" at the moment, not with my bladder problems. I'm just holding out for the appointment with the consultant and will hopefully be able to move forward from it all. Certainly wish I'd never had this done. But perhaps in a few months I may feel different, good luck to you both ladies, keep in touch and stay strong.

Hi ladies I thought I'd replied but can't find it. I've just visited gp was very sore and uncomfortable and still leaking which as you know is really upsetting. Took a swab to send off and said I might have thrush as had been itchy. I'd put that down to stitches. Gave me an anti-fungal tablet and the usual cream-as if you want to put that anywhere near!! Have now had a lot of bleeding which freaked me out but spoke to a woman's health team at the hospital who said could be stitches dissolving or infection. My Gynae away till 22nd so wait to see what swab says. Hope you girls have a better weekend and chins up😄 Xx

Hope swab comes back ok, I had a lot of bleeding when I had an infection, so could be that, I hope they sort it out quickly for you. Rest up lots and take it easy. Xx

      Hi Emma

Thanks I hope so and you too. I feel really pathetic! The bleeding has stopped but still leaking but just hope that will settle eventually. Taking a friend in next week for same op and had to be a bit careful with the truth!😂You take it easy to x

Hi Emma hope you're doing ok.

Swab came back clear so that's good but all else the same but no more bleeding. Still having Epsom salt baths and walking and doing bits and pieces. Feel better in myself but just hate these pads due the leaking! Everything still feels as if it's swollen so fingers crossed won't be too long for us all to recover completely. Got to try and keep positive ladies!! 💪

      Hi,

That's good news about swab being clear. I know what you mean about the pads, I hate them too. I completey agree about trying to stay positive, I feel very up and down at the mo but today I've felt quite positive and holding out for some good news on the 22nd, my friends and family keep telling me to give myself time to recover, which I find hard.

Keep in touch ladies and take care of yourselves. 😊 xxx

Saw your message to Emma and was also wondering how she is. Hope you make as good a recovery as I have. It's early days yet for you and I thought I would never get back to normal but definitely have now.

      Thanks for the message Hilian

Great to hear your doing so well can i ask what op you had ?

I had vaginal hysterectomy and anterior and posterior repair on 19th Jan. I'm in the UK and had a great consultant. A few problems afterwards with a rather big bleed and then urine leak which freaked me out but all resolved itself as he said it would.

      Hi,

To be honest things haven't been to great for me, saw my consultant in Feb and he told me once fully healed and with pelvic floor exercises it should resolve the leaking but unfortunately I'm still leaking and have had quite a few urine infections, going back on the 5th of July to see consultant again to see if my leaking has stopped but I'm not seeing any improvement so far and finding pelvic floor exercises so hard to do, but keeping at them. Fingers crossed I won't need anymore surgery. How are things with you? Hope all is going well. Take care ladies. 😊 xx

Also forgive me if too much to ask but did it make any difference to sex life?

      Thank you x

      Hi,

The soreness and tiredness is very normal, it took me months to feel completely back to normal as I felt exhausted all the time, I itched a little in the early days after the op but it wasn't too bad, perhaps if it continues mention it to your doctor. Hope you have a speedy recovery and rest lots, that's something I found so hard to do but it is something you must do to aid a quicker recovery. Take care and keep in touch. Xx

Very itchy!! Thought I had thrush but I didn't. Nearly drove me mad. To be honest haven't tried out full sex but feel as if it would be fine. Main reason for that is that three weeks ago I fell and damaged my knee and ribs so having just about got back to full fitness been in agony! Going on a ladies golf hol on Sunday in Tenerife but not yet able to play!!

Hope all going well- don't scratch!! 😂

I did get a tonic and it made me feel a little better. To be honest haven't tried yet, when I went to see my consultant in Feb I asked when I could and he said it's still early days and to give it a few months as still got stitches, so I'm not sure if that's cause I'm leaking as everything I read said wait 4 to 6 weeks but I'm pretty worried about about the whole thing when the time comes😣 ( my poor husband, it's been a long time.) 😊 lol.

Hope the itching eases for you. X

Hi Emma my leaking stopped first at night after about 7 weeks and then totally after about 9 and nothing at all now. I have a friend having same problem and I think it's the swelling inside causing pressure on the bladder.

Hope you're all getting better soon. X

Im not bk till may 26th so iv a million questions to ask then

They really dont give enought information as to what to expect afterwards

      Hope your doing ok x

I'm away with some ladies and one has had the same and is 8 weeks post op and already today had the heavy feeling and still leaking but it is improving and I hopefully reassured her I was exactly the same and am now fine. So no they don't tell you enough. X

      Hi ladies,

Thanks for the messages, I really hope it does sort it self out but some days leaking is worse than others, I must admit making me feel so down, wasn't expecting to feel like this nearly 4 months post op and so unsure what they will do to ressovle it, certainly the thought of more surgery scares me but don't want to continue with this leaking either, you're certainly right about not being given enough information regarding these operations, I still feel there are so many unanswered questions, I'm continually back and fourth to my doctors and they keep saying the same thing to give my body more time to heal and to wait till the 5th of July to see my consultant but surely this long after op i'd see some improvement and I'm not. Have a great holiday and hope you have a speedy recovery elainer.Xx

You'll feel better now having been reassured so hope all improves in time.

Same to you Emma and keep in touch.

It's hot here and going out on the golf course in a buggy but not playing with them which is a shame. Still in pain with knee and chest but I'm told it's going to be another 3-4 weeks before it gets better.

      Hi Hilian

I had the same op as yourself and unfortunately a small injury

to my bowel. I am now 6 weeks post op and still having some

abdominal pain and leaking. 🤔I had no problem with my bladder

before the op. Can I ask how you were at this stage?

      regards Woodie x

I had exactly that so don't worry. By 9-10 weeks almost completely back to normal. Leaking stopped about 7-8 weeks at night and gradually over the next couple of weeks altogether. I played golf a few times when I still felt a pulling but now I'm absolutely fine but had a tumble a couple of weeks ago and damaged my knee and ribs so actually in more pain than ever.!! Away nongolfing with girlfriends who are golfing so ball spotting and the odd putt. They reckon 6 week recovery! I'm only on nearly three😩I'm sure things will be fine soon for you have faith and patience.

      Hi there

Back home to the UK tomorrow so looking forward to being back with my husband much as I enjoy our ladies away week and we have a good time with lots of laughs! Will miss this lovely sunshine.

Knee and chest a bit better so hope it keeps doing that. As far as the hysterectomy recovery goes I don't feel as if I've had anything done now apart from no horrid prolapse bulge which almost feels a bit strange!!

Hope you getting on ok too.

The friend whose here with me who is now 9 weeks post op is doing well too although done a lot more and has been tired she feels good. She's managed 4 rounds of golf which she didn't think she'd be ready to do so very pleased.

Hi. Hope you don't kind me gate crashing this thread. I had a posterior repair (rectocele) almost three weeks ago. I'm feeling good and seem to be recovering well apart from a few slight issues with bowel movements, but nothing major. My biggest concern is about resuming sex in a month or so. I'm really scared that I won't be able to because of being stitched up too tightly. I'm 39 and this is worrying me a lot. Just wondered if you wouldn't mind sharing your experience?

    • Posted

You should have started a new thread as lots of this one is quite old. There should be no reason why you are now too tight. Lots of girls have had both anterior and posterior repairs done at same time & they aren't too tight. Part of the Surgeons skill is to make sure that you are as near to normal as possible & I'm sure they are totally aware during the operation of maintaining a useful vag. If it looked like that might be the case then I think the surgeon would have discussed it with you. The more you worry this early out from trying, then you're going to be so uptight come the time, that you probably won't be able to achieve it.

Hi Emma the best advice I can give to anyone who has had TVT or mesh repairs is to join Sling the Mesh on Facebook it is a closed group of women and some men who have hernia mesh inside of them you find out a lot of stuff on there It has been on the Victoria Deryshire tv show too just have a look take care
