My life with Globus

Posted , 5 users are following.

I just wanted to introduce myself to the group. Hello! Anyway, I am 58 now and I have have Globus since my late teens.

For me, I have come to the conclusion that it is related to the muscles around my head and neck are responsible for it as I have looked into other things and been checked by doctors. A few years ago I went for a few sessions with a practitioner in NW London who specialises in relieving Globus. It did help a lot but as with this type of condition it needs to be maintained and going to practitioners is expensive.

I visit an osteopath every month and I now do yoga as well as neck stretching etc. If I neglect to look after myself the Globus comes back with a vengeance!

I believe, for me, it is caused by stress, tense muscles etc. I had a difficult early start in life and have had periods of depression and still have anxiety. I take antidepressant/anti anxiety meds which help. I have been seeing a therapist for the last 8 years trying to understand why I am the way I am. All expensive but I wouldn't be without it.

Warm wishes to you all!

    Hi Sheila,

Thank you for writing. I’ve had it for a year now, and have come to the same conclusion pretty much. I think it is muscular, and related to tension and inflammation. It is really hard to take day in, day out.

Do you have trouble with your ears, that could be related?

Hi Deon, this is another attempt to reply. I typed it all out then it all disappeared...grrrr!

Thak you for replying to me. It IS hard isn't it? I don't have problems with my ears but I can see how it could affect them as all the muscles are interconncted.

      Sending you warm hugs😊

    Hello Sheila

    Welcome to the group

I can’t believe you had it since your late teens

    That is horrible!

For me also started with stress and developed SIBO due to over active acid in my stomach due to stress. After taking antibiotics for my SIBO it went away but I have to watch everything I eat!

    Is crazy 😜

Mostly have to follow the KETO or Paleo diet cause if not I feel it trying to come back

I massage my neck with a lymphatic massage and do neck stretch every morning.

Is not easy since I’m 57 and seeing myself deteriorate!

    Is definitely and inflammatory disease.

    Keep me posted!

      Hello

Thanks for your reply. I'm interested in the lymphatic drainage massage, will ask Auntie Google.

      Lots of hugs

Thank you shiela for the information you have acquired. I so agree with all you said. I have glibus, I have neck issues, even a knot in neck that had tests and conclusion muscle. My ENT said I must carry my tension in my neck. Yep..I try 2 keep reminding myself to look up as far as I can neck back shoulders relaxed and roll head side to side. Many ppl say this has worked wonders as it has helped me as well. I stress over health issues. After having a catscan, the next day I awoke with tinnitis in both ears ..now over a year later, it is still with me and stresses me even more. That is a HORRIBLE THING TO HAVE..but..I learn to say...it is what it is..I say that alot..I just deal with everything day by day and just keep moving. I try not 2 think about what might happen..I can't go there..I panic..so I just keep going..hope you can too..Past is history, future is mystery so we put it in God's hands..Blessings...

Thank you Terrie. Life is hard hey? People bear many difficult illnesses, horrible things that happen to them etc.

All we can do is carry on, getting help and learning to live with uncertainty.

      Terrie warmest hugs to you.

    Loving your post Sheila.

I have had consultant diagnosed globus on and off for 10 years (I am 52).

I completely agree we just have to put up with it when it gets bad.. Check out some of my older posts for more globusy detail...
