hi everyone, i was diagnosed with fm 3 yrs ago, and it has gradually got worse, even the pain clinic has discharged me 6 months ago as she said she couldnt do any more for me. the pain is unbearable and i'm taking 8 diahydrocodeine and 10 tramadol, using a heat pad, and taking clonazepam and amitriptyline to help me sleep so i dont wake up stiff and sore. none of it seems to work, does anyone know of any other pain medication i could try, and cn i get morphine on prescription, thanks

Sorry just saw your post. A Colonoscopy is when they put a camera type thing up the bottom end to look at the bowel and possibly intestines. My daughter has had some before has she has crohns diease. Not very pleasant experience as they pump some air inside to get a clear picture.
Afterwards you get really windy as the air has to come out and can be a bit painful with wind pains. Best thing to do is to walk round after and gets rid of the air quicker. They do give you a local anaesthic and enough so you don't feel any discomfort. Sometimes makes you a bit sleepy afterwards. Think you can bleed a little after. But if you get really severe pain, temperature or and severe bleeding have to get in touch with hospital if you are at home. We have got dad in as a day case and will stay overnight especially as he is 85. Not a very nice test but the best way to see what is going on.
You have done well with losing a stone in a month. Keep up the good work. Hope you are not in too much pain now.

If I were you I would get back to your GP and insist on help xx and if he/she isn't listening change doctors as I have done, and was a relief too, finally someone medical is listening instead of looking at me as though I was silly!!!!! Like Tess says you have done very well loosing the weight well done!!!!! Yeah Gabapentine did that to me and it is only now that I am finding the weight coming off and I feel not as bloated, as at the beginning of the year I looked nine months pregnant being on them, but thankfully the weight is coming off and I hope it continues for you too xxxx
Take care and I hope you are having a better day xxxxx

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with your colonoscopy. That has happened to my daughter Claire before when they don't give you enough sedation. She had one when she was only 13 as she had been diagnosed with Crohns Disease. It traumatised her for a long while afterwards. She still has them every now and again but always insists they give her more sedation. Never had one myself and don't like the idea but if you have to I suppose you do it. But they could make it more comfortable for patients.
Yes my dad had his and was ok afterwards. Never said his was painful.
Stayed in hospital overnight because of his age 85. Goes to see his consultant on 30th December. Told him he had some polyps and cauterised them. Will know more when he goes to clinic but is doing ok now. Coming to me for Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day!
I am not too bad tired and aches and pains but we just have to get on with it. Still trying to keep my exercises going but difficult with having other things to do for Christmas.
How are you feeling now! Are you nearly ready for Christmas.
Well take care and good to hear from you.

I am shocked they never gave you any sedation  No wonder it was painful. I hope your appointments in January go well. It is good when our husbands can help out. Even if they don't do things the way we do at least they try. Well I hope you have a good Christmas and talk soon.

I do feel so sorry for you it must really hurt you both but especially your husband who has treated her as his own daughter for so long. Can see why you didn't really have a good Christmas. It is good to watch the grandchildren open their presents. I watched Molly who is five as she opened hers and also sophie who was too young at only 13 weeks to open hers this year. Molly did it for her.
I had a good Christmas and busy one! Not too good at the moment with bad throat and full of cold. My daughter invited us to her house for New Year and as we went to hers over Christmas we feel like a quiet night in.
So Stewart my husband and I are staying at home with a film, bottle of wine or whisky for stewart and maybe a film. Are you doing anything for New Year. I hope you are not in too much pain and will talk again soon.

Poor you! Are you feeling ok now. What a start to the New Year for you!
Why wasn't you given an inhaler before. That does make me really angry when they don't give you all the medications you should have.
I hope you are feeling a lot better now. I am not too bad the normal aches and pains. Really got to get back into my exercises but still getting over a bad cold. So give myself a few more days. Not seeing physio until February so got plenty of time to work hard lol.
Take care
