I also want and NEED to lose about 3 stone this year.  I am determined that my new knee will be given as much chance as possible to work pain fee.  Jean, I agree with you too. The past four years have been ruled by this blasted knee - that ends in 2015!!!  I will be in charge of my life and do what I want to.  God it feels good to say that lol.  Happy New Year xxx

I am totally with you ruby, I feel exactly the same. 3.stone for me too and living life to the full. I retire at end of january and don't intend to let my knee rule my life as it had these last few years.

Maybe we can all keep in touch on here with a 3stone weightloss discussion post to encourage each other . We have specific specialisation with our knees too.

Think by this time next year we will be bouncing around

Good for you Susan!  I have had a good time over Christmas and now I have to start thinking about life again and not my right knee. Yes I will still exercise etc but then it will be what I want to do.  If I want to go anywhere and do anything then I intend to do it or at least give it a good go.  All the best to you xxx

Hey bionic Jean!, Doesn't it feel good to finally feel that we have a life again.

Lets all hope that we can stick to these resolutions.  I'm sure we can if we all just remember the pain we were in before we had our knees done.  This forum is so supportive of everyone I just know it will keep us all on track xxx

That's a great idea Scoobeedoo.  It will encourage us to stick to it too. The day after I had my op, my consultant came round and I asked him how much the joint weighed.  He replied " in the grand scheme of things Ruby, it doesn't really make much difference". Sarcastic little man lol!, Come on Scoobeedoo and Susan lets go for it and lose that 3 stone.  Think how much that will help the joint in the long run xx

You are so right ...this Forum has kept me sane....there's always been someone around to reassure  me when I've been feeling that things aren't going as well as I expected.

and maybe in 2015 I will be the one reassuring others

I don't mind being called Bionic Nan but I do object to wearing a daft outfit and a cape ....lol

It has helped me no end as well. Just knowing that someone is going through or has gone through what you have is just so reassuring.  Also whenever I have been worried that something was not right, so many have replied and made me feel so much better and not like a neurotic lunatic. If I can reassure people in the future that would be great.xx

That's our mission for 2015 Ruby to reassure others.

We can do it. Think of carrying 42lbs of potatoes and then not having to do it.

Wow when you put it into potatoes it shows how much excess we are carrying.  We will lose it though,Scoobeedoo.  We are determined that 2015 will be our year.  Goodnight all sweet dreams (even if sleep is only fleeting lol).  Roll on 2015 xxx

I have lost my first stone since I had the surgery and it has given me a boost, but like most of you, I desperately need to lose a lot more.  Four years ago I never went above 10stone.  Then my very fit non smoking partner developed lung cancer, and I was unable to get out much he died two years later.  In that time I put on two stone.  Four months after he died my mother who was nearly 101yrs, decided to give up her house and move in, so life continued at a very sedatory pace.

She then developed a brain tumor and I was back being a full time carer.  she died in the late summer of 2013, at nearly 103yrs  and  by the time I had got over that it was Spring 2014, and yet another stone had piled on.  I promised myself an active year, lots of fun and running about with my dogs, and then in May 2014, bang my knee went, and the entire summer was a blur of pain.  So I to have two more stone to lose to have a hopefully 2015!  biggrin

Bless you Liz what a roller coaster you've been on and come through. I'm sure you'll lose the weight with the determination that's got you through this far. We can all do it together . We all here to support each other. Let's make 2015 a happy and healthy one x

Bless your heart Liz, you have been through so much in such a condensed amount of time. I also hope 2015 will be the year things turn around for you.

On a positive note, it sounds like you have good genes ( longevity) if your mother lived until nearly 103! More reason for you to keep those knees in shape - you've got a long way to go smile

A very happy new year to you Liz! Betty

Shall I start up a weight loss thread or shall we just chat as we go sling. I thought a new thread could keep all the discussion together
