Newly Diagnosed with AV - Issues with Replens

Posted , 15 users are following.

I have been dealing with what feels UTI symptoms since early April.  7 courses of antibiotics later, a very painful cystoscopy, a yeast infection, BV, and now AV (and a 15 lb weight loss that I did not want).   During this entire time I have been using replens with the hope that some of the pain and burning would ease up a bit. But it didn’t. It turns out that the replens has been making things worse.  I have been having this very unusual white tissue like discharge  in addition to swelling, redness and severe burning. Turns out it is the replens!  Anyone else experience this? And any suggestions on a more natural product that has been successful at treating or at least reducing this horrible pain.  Anyone using Bioidentical hormones for AV?

My dr. said the compounding pharmacy would send me several bases to try to see if I was allergic.  When the pharmacy contacted me, they said they only had one base for the estrogen compound.

Are there other pharmacies that might have a choice of bases? Seems to doctor should know.

There is only one compounding pharmacy in my area.  I am going to call the dr. and tell him when I return, but I ordered it for it takes 5-7 days to pick it up.

Just wondering if anyone has ever heard of or used a product called Multi-Gyn Compresses? The packaging claims they can be used for itching and irritation on the labia and vulva area. They claim to be completely natural and safe but I suppose that means nothing if it causes a reaction.

julie, somehow I missed your message 2 days ago. Several women on this site recommended Muti-Gyn so I sent to the UK for a tube (not compresses). The results were rather disastrous for me. I had severe burning as soon as I put it in.

The burning calmed down after about 5-10 minutes. I tried using less a couple of days later. Didn't burn as much, but it caused a discharge. I brought the tube to the doctor (who I wasn't able to see for months as I was away). She checked the ingredients and said it was not surprising that it would burn thinning skin.

Have no idea how the comresses will work or if they are made of the same ingredients. Good luck. Let us know.

That message was held by the moderator for 2 days. But thank you for sharing your experience.

I figured that out right after I sent the message. The company name has been mentioned so many times I don't know why they would bother to block it then let it go.

Just compared the ingredients in the compress with the actigel by the same company. All appear to be the same other than the lactic acid which is listed for the compress. I threw mine out, but that's the info someone supplied on Amazon.

Maybe these ingredients are fine if you don't have AV? I don't know. It sure made me uncomfortable and as I said the gynecologist said she would never recommend it for thinning menopausal tissue. But I know several women who I'm pretty sure had problems related to AV swore by it on this forum. Not sure what to make of this info, but just so you know, I did have a problem with it.

Are we permitted to mention brands?  Is it 7th something or Earth something?

The moderator is very inconsistent on what is "allowed". A quick search for organic TP will bring up choices and details.

Moderator deleted my last comment so I am trying this again. Has anyone ever used vaginal compresses?  It’s made by a company that claims they are natural and safe and helps with burning, itching, swelling etc.

We have discussed so many different products so I still haven’t figured out why some comments are deleted and some aren’t.

I have seen something similar online.  Are you supposed to put these in the freezer?  To get some instant relief, I place an 8 oz. water bottle in the freezer.  Then, I place the bottle inside a thin sock and place the water bottle inside my underwear.  The underwear holds it in place.  I leave it on for five minutes on and five minutes off several times.  Temporary relief, but I will take anything right now.

I want to see if this gets deleted...It’s Multi-Gyn Compresses. I don’t think they get refrigerated. And I use the soft gel ice packs. They work for me to help me get a few hours sleep at night and since they are soft, I don’t even notice they are there.

Julie, having questions and comments being deleted or held back to be judged if acceptable can be very frustrating as all we are trying to do is help ourselves and each other by sharing info. Are you familiar with the private message feature? Click on the small envelope icon next to a person's name and you can communicate whatever you want privately. Unfortunately no one else gets to share in the information.

Good luck figuring out why some comments are blocked. Seems very random to me. Quite frustrating as it should be obvious we are people desperate for solutions and not salespeople pushing products
