How long since your surgery?  This is something I remember vividly.  They told me to take Miralax.  I took one dose and nothing had happened by the time I thought it shoud have, so I took another dose....  MISTAKE!!!  Anyway, the 9th day after my surgery was pretty much spent on the commode.  Live and learn, I guess.  smile

Lol I was with you on that one Britni!

    Took

Me about ten days to go ..

    Was getting worried .

Apparently is it quite common after surgery plus the co codamol I take still makes one notoriously constipated . I hated the taste of the stool softener .. Yuk! I ate prunes, drank orange juice, lots of water and stool softener but took ages . By god that first one will make your eyes smart it was like giving birth so be prepared !

Ten weeks on back to normal so try

Not to worry tho it does feel weird and anything codeine based bungs you up !! Good luck !

Yip 8 days waiting for me before any movement. I took lactolase but doubled the dose without any success, lentil soup worked a treat 😊

take the stool softener with a full glass of water.

Then have a cup of hot tea.

If you take too many narcotics, things will stop moving.

It's awful, I know!! I finally got desperate at one week postop anterior RTHR and had my husband help me with an enema then we hung out in the bathroom and "chatted" a while. It wasn't very pleasant but it was certainly effective! After that I took the stool softness 3-4xs/day....

I vote for the prunes...you and hubby could feed each other and still have the nice chat

      wink wink

and a very good morning to y'all ...

just checking in with you ... oh, that is terrible .. in my case the hospital did not discharge me before I had a BM ..got something for it and luckily for me, it worked ..

not sure about the banana .. I usually eat one when it is the other way around ...

how about black coffee and a cigarette on an empty stomach? always worked for my granddad ...

    wishing you great relief

    big warm hug

Is it morning out there already? But hello there

In the hospital they kept checking...listening to my stomach...heard that there was some movement so they didnt seem too concerned...but that was days ago...i dont think it is possible to even try your granddad remedy because my stomach is far from empty...it looks so full..thanks for wishing me great relief...Lord knows i need it.

Laxido! The standard dose is one or two sachets per day. For compacted bowel you can do 8 sachets (two to each glass of water) That will shift anything. But you may well find nature will sort it out anyway. And if they told you not to you probably should follow their advice.

Bowel surgery 4 years ago gave me rather too much experience with this area.

Are you taking any opioids (or codeine) as they make you constipated? Even ibuprofen can have that effect.

I think I went over a week and you do start to get uncomfortable - not a great feeling.

Yes i am on opioids so i know the cause of it...i just need help on getting it out

I can take stool softners but they told me to stay away from laxatives that make u go rapidly since i cant just get up and run to the bathroom...i dont need diarrhea so i cant over do it but im well past that uncomfortable feeling
