Hi everyone, im new to this site and orlistat, i was prescribed these back in feb n still havent been able to get them, spoke to gp who says theres no alternetive! i emailed hardtofind medecines and this was response rolleyes

I'm sorry but all of our stocks are exhausted now, I don't think you'll find any anywhere now. We are being told Aug/Sept, by which time hopefully all pharmacies will have it in stock again, the shortage has been caused by the unavailability of one of the raw ingredients.

I do apologise for any disappointment.

    Hi all,

I have spoken to the site managers and we cannot publish individual's contact details in the forums. A general comment such as contacting the company is ok but we cannot get involved with targeting individuals within a company.

Mike - I will send you your original post in full via PM so others can contact you if they wish.

    Regards,

    Many thanks Alan.

So much for a free and democratic society.

If any body wants the info just say so and I will PM it to you.

Roche who actually manufacture Xenical Orlistat have said to me today that there will be an update at the end of this month.

They insist that it is a Procedual problem which of course covers a multitude of things.

Roche is not the only manufacturer of Orlistat. Teva is also a manufacturer and they are still producing - they just have not been able to keep up with demand apparently. I spoke to someone at The Online Clinic today and they told me that Teva will be delivering to the UK this week. I have registered with The Online Clinic as it is totally free and they have promised to e-mail me when they have stock in.

Roche are the only company in the world that manufactuers Xenical Orlistat.

They are still producing Orlistat for the American market and others but not for the UK.

If you try and buy from places like Walmart in the States they just wont ship to UK

    Mike,

You are right that Xenical is only manufactured by Roche but Xenical is just a brand. Teva does manufacture Orlistat and production is ongoing but they cannot keep up with demand. I have had the Teva version of Orlistat earlier this year - it is exactly the same.

I spoke to a friend who is a GP and he said that Xenical will be flowing back into the UK after Roche has a meeting with the European Medicines Agency. I think that he said that it was a technical compliance issue after they had manufacturing problems in the States. They need authority to recommence supply to the UK.

    Margaret.
