Teva does not manufacture. They are UK's approved seller and importer but they buy Orlistat from Polfarma.

    Hi all,

Hope you are all well considering.

Just an update from my neck of the woods.

I rang barnsley hospital at the beginning of June and they advised not to call back until the end of august as they wouldnt have any until at least then.

My auntie who is a nurse in Rotherham came over last nite and said she couldnt understand it as all of her patients in Rotherham are now back on orlistat.

I went to see my specialist nurse this morning who called barnsley hospital for me after I had explained to her and they say they chased last week but still cant get it. They advised they will chase again today but with no promises.

Getting fed up now, its really disheartening going to gym 4 & 5 times a week and not losing. I got prescription in Feb and still not had any.

Would love a proper explanation as to why its not coming through.

    Hi Chantelle,

I deleted your duplicate and comment about it biggrin. Just good timing. If you do accidentally post duplicates I will come across them but the quickest way to let me know is to just click the report link at the bottom right of the post. This alerts me and I can tidy them up.

    Regards,

    Alan

    Hiya

I think we would all like a set date as to when this is going to be back and available for all of us.

I know I am so fed up with just not knowing and all your comments show you are too.

It is great though to have all the support being shared here, after all we do all want the same thing, just wish they'd get a move on with it. wink

I've gone past the why's and where fore's of it, I just want it asap. mad

This was my question to Teva UK......................

"Message: Can you tell me if you are in stock of Orlistat. I have been on Xenical Orlistat for the 18 months up to Feb this year but Roche say that because of a procedural manufacturing problem they have and are unable to supply. Could you possibly tell me what your position is in supplying chemists in the UK? Thankyou"

And this was their reply this morning.......................

Teva UK Limited does market generic Orlistat 120mg tablets, but unfortunately we do not have enough on the market to cover the demand which has come about since the branded version - Xenical® (orlistat - produced by the company Roche) - went out of stock.

We are endeavouring to obtain as much stock as possible to try and meet demand but whilst more will be made available in the coming weeks it will not be enough to fulfil demand whilst Roche’s supply problems persist.

We are sorry that we cannot be of more help and suggest that patients seek advice from their GP if they are unable to obtain supplies.

    Kind regards,

Hope this helps some of you anxiously waiting the resupply of Xenical Orlistat.

Thanks Alan I took a look but the ladies there seem to have no problems getting their Orlistat (xenical) so hopefully it just might be back in for us soon too.

I've been to my doctor today for my monthly weigh in and she said that Orlistat is coming back into stock now, in my area of Wakefield anyway. She has had several patients who managed to get their prescriptions filled in the past few weeks. I plan on ringing round the pharmacies on Monday to see of I have any luck. I too have had problems getting it over the past few months but I think we just have to be persistent, ringing around the pharmacies regularly as once they get any in stock it just flies off the shelf so quickly!

Good luck to everyone else smile

I have been ringing around different pharmacies here in Essex but only one (some distance from me) was getting small regular supplies in ..so after asking them if it was ok.. I posted my prescription off to them (as I dont drive) a couple of weeks ago.. they havent had any more supplies since. I did have my prescription with my local Boots but they have not had any in at all and are not expecting any.

It seems to be luck who gets what and where ..I think once you find a pharmacy that sometimes gets stock of Orlistat then try to get your prescription with them so that your in line for their next stock.

@fliss where abouts in essex are you? I'm from southend and I also rang round chemists looking for orlistat but found this completely useless, so I just tried chemists in my local area and I finally got some from my local chemist as it seems everybody else was only getting stock to cover the prescriptions they owed out but because I use my local one very often they gave me first refusal. My advice is don't give up as these pills will be back in stock
