    Hi my fellow Orlistat users,

I can confirm after talks that have taken place between Roche and the European Medicines Agency have agreed that Xenical Orlistat has been allowed back in production and that we in the UK should start seeing it in our chemists from late August onwards.

Thanks to all those that phoned both organisations you may have helped push these people into solving what was really a battle of words between the two organisations.

Well done and give yourselves a big pat on the back.

    Hi Mike,

I will be honest I wanted to make some calls but im not very confident with confrontation. I was very lucky yesterday to get a call to pick my first prescription up. I was a little worried that I might get this prescription and not get another one next month. Im gettting married next year so it would be no use been able to get hold of it one month and not the next....dress fittings and all that lol. Anyway thank you for this information. I would like to thank you for calling these people and getting us some answers and thank all of the other people that had the confidence to call. I just hope the information you have been given is correct :-) Hopefully you all get calls for your presciptions soon.

    Hi Mike / Oldbuster

Whooo hoo !! Well that's just brilliant news.

I had tried phoning Roche myself yesterday and only got the bog standard reply that's been there ages.

So well done you Mike on getting this info and more so for sharing it.

I can't wait now - I almost feel like a child getting excited at christmas.

The only sad bit will be when the forum is no longer needed - it's been good to chat with all fellow Orlistat users.

Hi Taboo, Yes I have to agree with everything you have just said, Mike is a superstar. I was also just thinking that we wont need this blog but maybe we could set another one up to let each other know how we are getting on when we have it again. after all people always want to know if medications are a success or not.

What a good idea to keep the forum going - self-help groups really work. I have only just joined but can see the advantages of a group of Orlistat users being in contact. Sharing highs and lows makes it easier.

Hi I agree with Chantelle29 and Lindenrosemary, this blog has been invaluable to me knowing people have been in the same state. I am glad some people have got their prescription filled but can't believe Rockrabbits reply about Asda, how can people just walk in and get it and we have been waiting months for ours. Here's hoping we all get some soon. I have managed to lose a stone in about 12 weeks with slimming world but still cant excercise due to arthritis in my knee. It has been a long slog!!!

    Hi all,

Please do feel free to start a new thread if this one does come to a natural (and happy? biggrin) end. There are already quite a few older discussions under Orlistat. Alternatively I can rename this thread when relevant if you just wish to carry on posting in here.

If you want to do this let me know but I won't change it until the situation is resolved.

Great idea about keeping this thread going, more seem to join it every week.

We could post what out weight loss are or dare I say weight gain each month and if you are having problems either with your diet or you need ideas on the types of food or the size of your meals as well as this you may suffer some of the side effects that come with taking Orlistat but this must not take the place of informing your doctor. Until then we can let each other know if and when their chemist start getting supplies in.

I had a similar expereance as the asda one by Mand43pink. I called one pharmacy and they said they had one box in so i got all excited, until they told me they were holding it back whilst a custom went to thier doctor to get a prescription!

I agree this thread has been brilliant knowing that there are others out there in the same situation, and i hope that you all get your prescriptions filled soon! :D
