Until your EMG test come back could be a number of things your neuro will rule out the serious illness for sleeping amitriptyline is good for nerve pain

I just had my letter from the hospita had a EMG last week came back normal no nerve damaged yet both feet toes all numb was told it was peripheral neuropathy there is over 100 types of neuropathy had all blood test all clear had this problem now for over a year it's getting worse

I have a pretty similar diagnosis. I am now putting it down to my lower back. I had a CT scan that shows some aged wear and ttear but no real reason. Then went to nuerosurgeon who wants an MRI scan of whole spine.

That has presented a problem as Inhealth who run the scanner do not yet have a protocol for patients with MRI compatible pacemakers!!

My lower disk is flat as a pancake I saw the scan when I saw the pain clinc doctor he said I had peripheral neuropathy so did 2 other specialist all before the EMG I have carpel tunnel in both hands the feet and toes are bad even with drugs and cream I take dunno what's next also pain in hip joint

Drugs and cream can help the pain have a look at NHS website about neve pain and damage I don't want to alarm anyone

I take it that you are not diabetic as that is the most common cause of neuropathy.

And no answers apart from a fits all idiopathic neuropathy.

The numbness started before the lower back problem but suddenly at the start of June the numbness worsened to the extent that I cannot walk without my wifes arm or hand for support.

At that time I was taking Bisoprolol and thought it might be a side effect from it as Google finds neuropathy to be a side effect of it. Other symptoms went but not the numbness.

I am mainly OK indoors but as soon as I put shoes on it dramatically worsens.

Got myself a walking stick as I feel like it's hard to walk now yes seems it's that idiopathic neuropathy other drugs have been said so I guess it's very long term not matter how my pages on sites seems there's no real cure

I had that back in 2009 for my lower back worked well dunno if the NHS do it ? Will ask

Yes they do it. My wife had it for a time but they limit the number of treatments you can have.

My GP is quite in favour of it and has had it himself.

Recent NICE rulings have limited the treatments for back pain and they now regard acupuncture as a "Sham" so will have withdrawn support for it.

The numbness in my foot continues when walking outside and my back pain is worse. I eventually had a whole spine and pelvic MRI scan privately that cost me £914 and did not show anything that was not on the CT scan. The neurosurgeon said there was nothing for his knife and referred me back to my GP with again a must be neuropathy diagnosis. My GP has now referred me to a neurologist who specialises in neuropathy.

I did see an osteopath but when she saw the small aortic aneurysm on my CT scan was afraid her treatment might burst it, I did see a cranial osteopath who does a gentler treatment. It helped to a degree in loosening other joints but she felt that she was not helping the real problem.
